Hello, dears! I know counting macros can be confusing so here's a super basic way to begin tracking them. As you get more comfortable with tracking your macros, then spread your wings and try other macro calculators, intermittent fasting, counting micronutrients, etc. BUT, basics first. today we are going to learn about macros
we're going to learn about what they are
why you should count them and how to
count them
macros is short for macronutrients
macronutrients are the building blocks
of all the food that we eat there are
three main categories of macronutrients
which are carbs proteins and fats
why you should count your macros you
should count your macros because
counting macros is essential to
maximizing your fitness goals
especially if you're just beginning
counting macros gives you an exact
guideline as to how much food you should
be eating so think about counting macros
as going to the salon to get your hair
colored when you go to salon and color
your hair you also want to get a color
safe shampoo and conditioner to use at
home the color safety improved
conditioner helps to maintain the color
and helps it last as long as it should
otherwise if you're not using a color
safe shampoo and conditioner the hair
color fades out right away and the time
and money you spend on your hair color
goes to waste
in the same way going to the gym is like
going to salon to get your hair colored
and counting your macros is like
getting the color safe shampoo and
conditioner your time at the gym is
maximized by counting your macros and
eating clean otherwise if you're just if
you're not aware of what you're eating
and you just eat whatever you want then
the time you spend at the gym goes to
waste how to cut macros so the easiest
way to cut your macros is by using the
myfitnesspal app which i will show you
how to do right now
alright so the first thing you're going
to want to do is just download the
myfitnesspal app
it's uh here it's just a little blue
icon with the under armor
icon in there
and i already have it downloaded so i'm
just going to go ahead and open it up
all right
so when you first download the app it's
going to ask you to sign up using
facebook or email go ahead and do that
after that it's going to
ask you a couple of questions about your
age weight your height goals
etc just and just answer these questions
accordingly
and if you ever need to change your
goals or adjust them you can just go
down to the bottom right hand corner
where it says more
and then go to goals
and then you can adjust your your weight
and
your activity levels and then your if
you need to train change your macros at
all you can go down to nutrition goals
and then to the little tab that says
calorie macronutrient goals and then you
can always change your
macros there as well all right
so to enter food into the app
you're gonna go to
the diary button which is the second
button to the left
and
then you're just going to click add food
i always
find that the easiest way to add food
is just to
use the barcode
on the food item that i want to enter in
so i'm just going to go ahead and scan
that
and then that's just the little
barcode icon on the upper right hand
corner
all right
so i just scanned in some protein powder
this is the woman's best one
and so here the servant says 30 grams
which for this brand is just one scoop
and if i if you ever need to change how
the serving size is measured you can
just click on it
and then it gives you different options
for different
ways to measure the serving size
all right and then you can adjust the
number of servings you're going to be
eating by clicking on number servings
let's say i want to do
two servings of two scoops of the
protein and then i'm going to collect
the check
and then to add this into your diary
you're going to want to go up to the
upper right hand corner
and click the check again and then that
adds it into
your food diary when you buy raw meat at
the store you can skin the barcode but
the macros you're given from my fitness
pad will likely be for the raw means not
for when it's cooked so if you're going
to be cooking your own food at home keep
in mind that raw food weighs more than
cooked food for example i usually find
that six ounces of raw chicken breast
weighs about four and a half ounces once
it's cooked so to correctly enter in
your food i'd recommend weighing it once
before you cook and then once again
after it's cooked so you know what the
conversion is
write your conversions down somewhere so
that when you cook these foods again
you'll know exactly how much food you
need
so if you don't already have a scale for
your food i would recommend getting one
i have a link to one that i'd recommend
for you guys down in the description box
below so do keep in mind that your
macros are there acting as a guideline
and not as a restriction if one day you
go over your macros then you go over
your macros that day just let it be and
just try to hit your macros again the
next day or if one day you are under
your macros
then you're under your macros for that
day don't stress about it just try to
hit your macros again the next day thank
you so much for taking the time to watch
