#golf#golfsportofperfection Check out the best shots of the day from Round 2 at the 2025 Texas Children's Houston Open, featuring Scottie Scheffler, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler and Joel Dahmen, among others. Round 2 was suspended due to darkness after an earlier weather delay and will resume at 8:30am EST
The PGA TOUR is Texas-bound for a two-week stint in the Lone Star State, beginning with this week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open. Germany’s Stephan Jaeger will defend his maiden PGA TOUR title, but he will have to hold off the top two players in the world – Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. The 2025 PLAYERS Champion is back in action as he continues to prep for the first major championship of the year. Meanwhile, the University of Texas product and Lone Star State native Scheffler returns to Memorial Park after finishing runner-up here last year, in the hopes of securing a title before the trip to Augusta. Other players in the high-level field include Wyndham Clark, Tony Finau, Sahith Theegala and Min Woo Lee among others.

179 yards.
He's posed on it.
They were liking it back there in the fairway.
Take a look at the reaction.
Check this out.
Doug Gim.
Always a fighter.
Oh, he likes it.
Echeverria.
Wow, what a golf shot.
Are you kidding me? Dancing in two.
Here at the 8.
That was impressive.
11.
The hole isn't playing quite as long today.
Only 189 yards, but still
putt here with a lot of break and got off
to a birdie, birdie start.
If you feel
lost, you're going to stay lost.
Davis Thompson, he's a fellow bulldog
of yours, Billy.
And he's got a shot tracer right there, right down
the throat of that flag.
Beautiful.
There have been 29 aces here since
1983, the last game.
How'd you play? I played fine. I scored
like crud.
What is he talking about?
Majestic divot from Jaeger.
That was on a frozen rope.
What a shot.
Okay.
He said, I needed to
sharpen the irons.
Well done, my man.
Put himself in a nice position off the tee.
He sure did. Took it up the left side here.
Hole location way in the back
on this green.
Very deep green fluid all the way back there.
He's dialed in with his
short irons, that's for sure. Yep.
Back-to-back birdies for Scottie.
Takes it straight up.
Likes it.
As he should.
Come on.
Good shot.
I was going to say, let's see what
Sung Jae can do for an encore right here.
Let's do another good looking shot.
Wow.
Are you serious?
Brendan, you weren't kidding about that
position on 14 for these guys.
That's a
golf shot right there. Big tone.
Oh, he likes it.
Oh, as he should. Oh, boy.
Three feet
for a birdie putt
on the way for Salinda.
The rookie, Danny Walker
at the second tee.
He's four over par.
What do we got, rookie?
What do we got,
rookie? What do we got,
rookie? Come on.
Good shot, Danny.
At the second from just off the green.
Yeah, this was huge today.
His putter was red hot
and another one goes there at the second.
Par three playing
191 yards today.
Hole located in the front left
portion of the green today.
Oh, what a beautiful
shot.
Rasmus Heugart at six under
on the box at number two.
Ideal shot
landed just beyond the pin.
Oh, just like that.
Beauty there from Rasmus.
Okay.
One under par.
Tied for 50.
Oh, yeah.
That's a good birdie there.
Wow.
Very good.
I believe the kids say dropping a dime.
Matt
McCarty on the second.
Oh, McCarty.
How good is this? Wow.
Best of
the day right there.
17th, Jackson Suber.
Right
there. It starts going down the hill.
Moving a little right.
Go ahead.
Get it to minus seven.
25 year old
out of the University of Mississippi.
And here is
Pat Desire with his second
on the 12th.
Maybe the best swing we've seen
him today and look at the result.
Balanced right there. We've seen him
coming out of these shots, Jack, but
that was a perfect shot right there.
Third
shot. Third hole. Taylor
Pendrith moving some
soil. Yeah. Par five.
Good tee shot.
Really nice wedge shot there.
Pars at three and four led him to this second
red at the fifth. Yep.
It's pinned to the front left. There's a little
bit of an upslope you can use here to fly
it past. Watch this. Look at all
that spin and these fairways are so perfect.
Clean contact. Soft greens.
Make a birdie there. Make a
birdie at the seventh.
This par three is just a beautiful
looking hole right along the
D3 also
looking to bring it in right to left.
Took it way
up, didn't he?
And why not?
Why not?
Thomas D3. That was decadent.
Back to Grayson
Thig.
I like watching this guy play too
because why? I gave you
a little insight yesterday.
He's a competitor.
Fiery.
Come on.
Grayson Thig.
Darn it.
Par 70 on Thursday
drove it way left at the first
so 22 feet per par.
He had a long approach for his third.
145 yards or so and what a way to start
around.
Here at the first.
Two under for the tournament.
Now drops it in
to move to three under.
What a way to start your round.
Welcome to day two.
As we move over to 15.
Here's John Pach
at three under on the day.
Oh wow.
Almost dunks it.
And John Pach.
He's never known.
An exclamation point
for Keziah
to finish off his round
as he chips in.
At 15.
Damon hated it.
Now he loves it.
Rory McIlroy's
and Wyndham Clarkson.
He hasn't backed down at all.
That's a good one.
It was perfect.
Monday qualifier
out of California.
Charlie Ryder
for Eagle is going to try to make the most
of a big week.
Make the most
of a big week.
How about that?
Three under par.
As we move over to 15.
Here's John Pach
at three under on the day.
Oh wow.
Almost dunks it.
And John Pach.
Hometown kid.
Vanderbilt Commodore.
Matthew
Riedel. He knows the golf course.
And he
going flag hunting here.
Utilizing the tilt and the grain.
How much break?
Coming down the hill.
He's looking for it to go left
a pretty good bit.
Finally.
Finally sees one go in.
You know we saw Eric Cole over here
earlier in the day at the 17th.
Made birdie.
Maybe that's the place
to drive it.
Lee Hodges.
Buck 65 at 14th.
Hadn't played since the WM
Phoenix Open was nursing a rib injury.
He's got a pretty simple
golf swing.
Speaking of Maverick, he's on the tee at nine Bones.
Just a
three finger seven iron from 184.
What a great shot there for Maverick.
Weeks ago.
108 yards.
Must have had some trouble off the tee.
This should spin.
Good shot though.
Zach Johnson's a long ways away
at 17 putting for birdie.
We were talking about Rory's 95 footer for eagle.
This one here on
17 for Zach.
No you're not.
Oh yeah.
Zach.
He's making a run just over 67 feet away.
Trying to make it to the weekend.
Not even smiling.
Scottie Scheffer.
That means eight under par.
Just a par 70.
Nico is already six under on the day.
So he might match that 62 or even do better
later tonight.
