Today, we're flying on AirAsia from Bangkok to Siem Reap, a quick one-hour flight for
our four-day trip.
The airport was nearly empty, making arrival a breeze.
Outside, we found a local driver to take us into the city.
The drive took about an hour, passing through many small towns before reaching Hari residence
and spa.
After checking in, I headed straight to the rooftop pool, where the view of Siem Reap
set the perfect tone for our adventure for the next couple of days.
After spending a few hours at Pub Street, we headed back to our hotel, because the real
adventure begins tomorrow at 5 a.m.
Alright, it's day two in Cambodia in Siem Reap.
We're going to Angkor Wat right now.
It's called a Grab car.
It's only six bucks.
We're on our way, boys.
See you at the temples.
Long road to walk in here, though.
This place is massive.
Yeah.
Probably still have another 20 minutes to get to the entrance over there.
It's beautiful.
It's pretty nice, though.
You hear the birds.
It looks like Paris, like Versailles.
That's a lot of walking there.
Yeah.
I wonder how old these stones are, guys.
Crazy.
You know where the stone comes from?
Wow.
Okay, sir.
They're ready.
They're very helpful here.
I'll take a picture of you guys right there.
Okay, right here, Lee.
About to go in, guys.
This is not Disneyland, boys.
This is like 900 years old.
How did they do this?
They didn't have the machinery back then to move all this stuff.
Think about it.
Like, how did they put all this into place like 900 years ago?
This was a palace, huh?
Yeah, this must have been a palace back in the day.
After arriving to the Angkor Wat Temple Complex, we barely covered any ground.
There's still much more to see.
Let's have a look around.
It's dark in there.
It's like a tunnel.
Hey, look who I found.
Hello, boys.
Hello.
You guys been hanging out in the temples?
Yeah.
This would have been a swimming pool back in the day, huh?
Yeah.
Alright, guys.
Yeah, the sun is just coming up now.
It's going to get hot pretty soon.
We got a lot to see today.
Hey, Lee.
Found her.
Here we go.
You guys are seeing this.
The humidity is like fogging up the lens a little bit.
Here's that giant pool again.
Wow.
This is just the first stop.
We've got like maybe three or four stops today to go.
I think the next one we're going to go to is called Tephron.
That sun is peaking now.
It's only 7.30 in the morning.
I think it's pushing 90 degrees already.
I imagine that used to be open in the past.
Steps.
Modern steps they built, but just imagine the original ones under here.
All made of stone.
And how did they bring all this stone and set it into place?
It's a mystery.
Great archaeological mystery.
So actually we're going to go meet up with Thomas and Dan right now.
They're at a food court.
And apparently there's a sign there indicating that
James Bond, one of the James Bond actors
in the past, there was a movie shot there.
Dan the man.
Dan's got the womans now.
Cambodia womans.
Yeah, yeah.
You see Mary up there?
He's looking to get married, bud.
What do they got there?
Is that for your cocks?
Yeah, yeah boys.
It's so funny, we're just leaving the lunch area.
We're trying to escape because all the women are coming out
saying, you want to buy something for me?
Don't forget me.
You boys are getting hounded, huh?
The girls want to ******* party.
The film crews.
They like the hat.
The tallest man in the village.
They want to party with the tallest man in the village.
They wanted my hat.
They're trying to take your things and your money.
After exploring the main temple complex
and then stopping for lunch,
now it was time for us to move on to the next temple
featured in the movie Tomb Raider.
Good picture.
That's how you do it.
Now we're going to Africa town, you know?
Yeah, I'm halfway in, bud.
Africa town is the main one.
And Mayuan inside.
Enjoy your time.
First time in Cambodia, guys.
Yes.
Got one foot out, one foot in.
Hold on for dear life.
Fresh air.
I think we're going to the temple.
The first stop is Angkor Thom.
And to get there, we've got to pass through this gate.
Our tuk-tuk driver allowed us to step out for a minute
and take some photos.
And just up ahead on top of that temple up there,
I can see some monkeys crawling around.
Let's get a closer look.
This is crazy.
Just look at the details in these faces, too.
Amazing.
And most of this stuff around here is about 900 years old or more.
So it's been here for 900 plus years.
Coming up to the gate right now,
all these butterflies keep flying around.
See the monkeys up there?
Yeah, let's go get a closer look.
Oh, wow. Be careful.
Those monkeys right there, they'll jump on you.
Take your stuff.
Watch out for those monkeys.
Ooh.
He's fighting another guy.
Oh, hey, buddy.
Look at the size of a small dog.
Crazy.
Look at that one.
They move pretty quickly.
They're climbing up there, too.
Wow, he's scaling that whole thing way up there.
And there's a huge one over there just chilling.
This is unreal.
A huge one over there just chilling over there.
Look at that guy.
It's not a movie, bro.
It's real.
This ain't a movie, bro.
This is real.
It's not a Cambodian movie set.
Yeah.
It's a film crew.
Oh, wow.
He's chasing another one.
That's huge.
Oh, they're crawling up there, too.
They're pretty agile.
Walking through the gate now.
Wow.
Hello, guys.
Hello, boys.
Another beautiful day, though.
We got lucky with the weather.
Yeah, we got lucky with the weather, man.
Fixing some of this place up a little bit here.
I'm just saying, like, this ancient ruin, like, the amount of work that was put into it.
It took thousands of people, thousands of artisans.
And they had to be eating, sleeping here, everything.
A whole camp of people.
Wow.
So many different hallways that lead to different places.
And what I'm wondering, Dan, is did this place ever had a ceiling or a roof on it?
And it just, like, fell apart over time?
Or did they always leave it open to the elements to kind of let the air come in because it's so hot?
That's actually a really good question.
I'm going to ask one of those guys.
Do they have windows on here?
Or they didn't have a concept of windows?
Just open openings.
The window was the window to the nature.
This was before glass blown.
Yeah.
That's true.
That's about 900 years ago or more.
Wow.
Wow, now we're going to come around this side.
There's this archway here.
It's a lot of, like, wow, I'm going to have to step up this thing.
It's crazy.
Do we go this way?
Let's go this way first.
Wow.
Here.
Wow.
This is huge.
It's crazy.
This is very expansive.
Giant labyrinth.
Faces on the side of the rock carved up there by hand.
Just imagine the amount of man-hour it took to make this place.
Alright, my wife just loaned me this umbrella.
Totally need it.
It's, like, 100 degrees right now.
The sun's just beating down.
A hat's just not enough.
This place is crazy.
Let's walk over here and see what they've got on this side.
A lot of rubble in this section.
So many photo ops, guys.
This place is just, like, amazing.
Okay, time to head out.
It's pretty exhausting.
It's so hot.
I'm going to go meet the tuk-tuk driver now and we're going to go to the next place.
Ah, this drives through, right?
We stopped for some coconuts.
Boiling hot.
I've got to relax.
Okay, there was a path back there to go straight to the temple, but we got a little curious.
Heading off the beaten path.
Watch out for the cogos.
It's thick in the jungle now.
Deep in the jungle.
Okay, we've arrived at Ta Prohm, an ancient temple in Cambodia's Angkor complex.
Stands as a haunting relic of the Khmer Empire.
Twisted tree roots engulf its crumbling stone walls as you'll see up ahead.
Nature reclaiming what was once sacred.
It was made famous by the movie Tomb Raider and it now stands frozen in time.
Let's begin our walk through the temple grounds.
Alright, let's go.
Here we go.
Ta Prohm.
Temple.
Look at this, guys.
Some vegetation.
You can see a lot of trees through this temple.
This one looks like it's sandstone.
A mix of sandstone and some other rock.
I don't know.
Some of that crumbled right there, there was the roof.
Probably continued all the way down to where that tree is on the other side.
Maybe they're going to use that to rebuild?
Yeah, it used to be part of the temple.
Check this out.
There used to be an opening right there, maybe a window.
Even in its disrepair, it has this cinematic look to it.
It kind of belongs that way now.
Look at the size of this tree.
Leaning against the other one.
Growing to the right.
Some nice spots in the shade.
Wow.
Yeah, it looks like they're laying out some sort of grid to reconstruct this.
If we come back here in the future, it'll look a little different, huh?
No, it's straight.
Maybe that stands for southwest?
Look, from here to here, it's straight.
It's like it's straight.
It's a marker or something.
You can hear the breeze going through the trees and all the cicada bugs, too.
Oh, wow.
As we ventured deeper into the temple grounds, towering structures emerged from the jungle.
The ancient walls embraced by broken stones and overgrown trees weaving through the ruins.
It was truly a sight to behold.
Alright, rainstorm's coming.
Let's go.
That's a wrap on Angkor Wat for day two.
We unwound by the hotel pool later on, gearing up for tomorrow's remote village adventure
and a muddy riverboat tour of Tonle Sap Lake.
So we were going to go to the floating village today.
Our driver took us a little bit out of the way to another place.
And now we're dropped off at this local village.
We've got to find our way on a boat to the area where we originally wanted to go.
Check this place out.
We're like in this little rural town.
I think Dan's going to try to find a school to go in and talk to some of the people.
There's a school right here.
Temple on this side.
Cool.
Boys, where have we been dropped off?
In the middle of rural Cambodia.
You going to go teach a class today?
Yeah, I'm going to go teach a class. Ready? Here we go.
This is teacher Dan.
Homework lesson.
He did a homework assignment.
That's cool, huh?
He's a teacher, huh?
Look at Dan's teaching.
Hello.
Oh, she knows.
My name is Silin.
Good job.
And my name is Dan.
Teacher Dan.
In the Cambodian schools right now.
They're good, huh? Look, we're riding them. It's so nice.
You guys are so smart.
Time to head out, boys.
I'm going to get some kids muddy here.
The work here is done. The schools.
Got to go find Leigh.
See where she's at.
Roaming around here somewhere.
It's pretty cool.
Oh, she went down that way.
We don't know if there's that many rides to the next location.
So I think the taxi driver is waiting for us.
It must flood down here.
The houses are so high up on stilts.
Alright, boys. We negotiated the trips.
Let's go on the boat ride.
Local boat.
So this is one of the restaurants they bring to you.
I think this is just like a short ride, guys.
I'm going to go here. Check it out for a little bit.
See what happens next.
I don't know if you can see this on camera.
I'll show you the phone in a minute.
There's like baby crocodiles down there.
There they are. Look at them.
Just relaxing.
It's hot out.
Dan's just chilling on this lake.
So we're at this floating restaurant.
And we're going to head back to the mainland pretty soon.
And as Leigh's showing here on her phone,
the water level is pretty low right now.
I'll include some footage next up so you guys can see.
Oh, the river is shallow, guys.
Shallow.
It really is shallow. Look at it.
It's like getting cut up.
Guys, I think this river is only like 2 feet deep.
Look at how we walk over it.
Alright, guys. Want to head back pretty soon?
Let's go check with the boat driver.
Let's go.
As our boat ride came to an end,
we headed back to the city for one last night out at Pub Street.
With its buzzing nightlife, live music, and endless street food,
it was the perfect way to wrap up our time in Cambodia.
The next day, we hopped on a flight back to Bangkok.
But the adventure isn't over yet.
In our next video, we're headed to Suphanburi, just north of Bangkok,
before traveling to the south
to explore Thailand's largest wooden temple,
the breathtaking Sanctuary of Truth.
