The first time I ever visited the Asian Art Museum, it was still the Seattle Art Museum,
and it was in 1964. Well, this is the last time I get to see it for a while. I think the first
time I saw it was in like 1948. We are members of the Seattle Art Museum, so I thought we'll
just come on a rainy day. I mean, I don't think I've ever seen a show I haven't loved here.
It's always been a surprise, unexpected. It just has a lovely feel about it. Part of it,
I think it's the setting in the park. The horizontal building is very restful. It's
inviting to come in here. Yeah, it has a quiet quality to it that I like. My favorite Asian
Art Museum memory is that incredible long wall video. I think I came back to see that
maybe six different times with various friends and grandchildren and sat in front of it. It was
magnificent. All of the exhibits I've seen up here, I enjoy. You've got the traditional,
but then you have the contemporary, and they're usually going on at the same time. I love coming
here. I love the building. I love the setting in the park. I'm glad that the building's going to
be preserved. It's become part of my life. I love it. I love coming here. I'm from Seattle,
and I've always loved this museum.
