CHOCK / BATES (USA) | Ice Dance Free Dance | ISU World Championships | Boston 2025
So the final team in this free dance in these world championships, they lead, they've got a
healthy margin, close to four points in hand going into the free dance. Bidding to make it
three in a row. This is Madison Chok and Evan Bates. Round Midnight.
Once again ladies and gentlemen from the United States of America, Madison Chok and Evan Bates.
Just fantastic. Well I'll let the pictures talk for themselves, to be honest
there's nothing I can add to that, it was spellbinding. Well they had the margin,
they didn't need it at the end of the day, they're gonna walk away with this I think.
Didn't put a foot wrong, there was speed, sophistication, elegance, they filled the
ice, the crowd got behind them, emotion and of course that technical precision
that they've evolved over the years. And remember it's been a lot of years as well, they've
competed at the world championships 13 times before, well Evan has, it's their 11th
world championships together and they for sure will win gold with that performance.
Yeah I think they'll remember this forever.
Technical panel really isn't taking a look at a lot. They were so clean today
until this final lift, that's the only thing that let them down in the final
moments of this performance. Technical panel awarding this lift a level two.
At the end of the day I don't know how much that's going to affect them, it's about a point
and a half in base value. So here we go they need 126.37 to win the gold medal.
I would think 132.12 is that season's best score. This year they got that in the grand prix finals.
And Paul Lacan, could it be gold for the third time in a row? Yes it could, 131.88 will do it
for sure. They win the Frenos, they extend their lead and Madison Chok and Evan Bates are world champions again.
