Florence Pugh receives Best Actress award at BIFAs 2017 for Lady Macbeth

And the Pippa Best Actress sponsored by Mac goes to the fabulous Florence Pugh. Oh God, okay. Um, ah, my, when I told my mum I was nominated, she said, well thank goodness, because look at who you're nominated against, you know, you won't win, so drink all the champagne, and I've drank all the champagne and I'm slightly regretting that now. So, um, we, we made a film, and we made it on a very small budget and small time, and despite that, there was a very deep desire and passion to tell this story. I met this character when I was 19, and even then she excited me, she shocked me, she was deliciously dangerous and naughty and nice, and I, I was so in love with her that I didn't really see past the shoot. I didn't expect, not that I didn't expect, I just didn't think that the film was going to go so far, and every time it has, I've been so overwhelmed and so pleased that people are talking about it, and now I'm here, and I'm here with my gang over there, um, and I've been nominated and now I've bloomin' won, um, so it's, it's a bit of a, a treat. Um, I have loads of thank yous, thank you Will, for giving me this part and this opportunity. Um, thank you, uh, Fola Conan O'Reilly, Alice Birch, uh, Ari Wagner, Naomi Aki, Cosmo Jarvis for making this moment truly special, and of course my incredible agent that just basically sorts my life out, and, um, thank you Sophie Patterson, you are a gem. As I said, this has been a really, really wonderful moment in time, so thank you BIFA. Yeah!
