Hello, I am Theo, the Bible Explorer.
And today we will be walking through the story
of Prophet Elijah.
There was a prophet named Elijah in the Bible
who lived in a time when God's children
were doing a lot of evil things,
like worshiping other gods.
There was no rain in the land for a long time.
The rivers dried up and food became scarce,
but God took care of his prophet, Elijah.
He led him to a small town called Zarephath,
where a poor widow lived.
The widow and her son had only a little flour and oil left.
It was just enough for one last meal.
After that, they had nothing else to eat.
Elijah told the widow, do not be afraid.
Make a small loaf for me first
and God will provide for you.
The widow obeyed, even though she had so little.
Let's pause for a little pop quiz.
What did the widow do after Elijah asked her
to make bread for him?
A, she ran away.
B, she trusted God.
C, she chased him away.
D, she cried.
That was fun.
Now let's get back to our story about Elijah and the widow.
A miracle happened.
The flour and oil never ran out.
Every day, there was enough food for Elijah,
the widow and her son.
Before we finish today's Bible story,
let's attempt one more pop quiz.
God provided for the needs of the widow
by giving her what?
A, water and milk.
B, flour and oil.
C, oil and juice.
D, water and bread.
God provided for Elijah and the widow
because they trusted him.
When we trust God, he takes care of us too,
no matter how hard things may seem.
Now a little recap before we go.
Prophet Elijah was a prophet in Israel.
Because the Israelites were worshiping other gods,
God did not rain down on their lands
for three years and six months.
God sent Elijah to a widow in Zarephath
so she could feed him.
The widow had little flour and oil left,
but made a loaf of bread for the prophet.
They all ate throughout the drought
and the flour and oil did not run out.
Remember, God will provide for all your needs.
Philippians 419.
