Entry point 66. Crocodile River into Crocodile Lake.
So this entry point is definitely not very well used. The one stipulation with
the Crocodile Lake permit is that you can only camp on
Crocodile Lake. The reason being is that there's no way
to exit the Crocodile Lake area without
leaving the boundary waters so you're stuck there.
But these portages going in through the vegetable lake chain
are a little bit overgrown but not too bad.
It feels good because it doesn't seem like there's a lot of people out here.
I've been through here about three times and I've always enjoyed it.
Here we are on South Cane Lake. Not a very big lake. Take you about five
to seven minutes to paddle across.
Portages are actually pretty good shape. Not too much to work your way around and
not too badly overgrown.
And here we have portage into Crocodile River.
We've got some really shallow waters here. About six inches to a foot for quite a
while.
get through. Looks like we're gonna have to find
another way around this one or go right over it.
Sometimes the easiest way is straight through it.
The last campsite on the western side doesn't seem to be occupied so let's go
check it out. Hopefully we can find some access
to the sunset and the stars tonight.
