Thank you selena for inviting me to be a part of your video you're the kindest soul I've ever met. I love you so much ❤️😘
We are about to watch my music video, Same Old Love, which
is the second single off my new album.
The concept was to take the meaning of not just
one same old love, but different types of love
that you may share, whether it's a relationship, a father,
daughter, a mother, and a son, newly honeymoon stage couples.
It just kind of describes the cycle of what love can be.
And here we go.
So we shot this in downtown LA.
Night shoots, two days.
I started working at 6 PM, which means I wrapped around 5 AM.
Michael Hausman showed out.
He's incredible.
He was very collaborative and knew exactly what I wanted.
We kind of used this whole kind of a Parisian vibe
with the concept of the hair and the makeup.
And we just made it seem very classic.
And he also knew how important it was for me to translate emotion
and make the video cinematic and not just a beautiful piece
where I could be dancing around.
It tells a story.
It's fluid.
And he completely followed through with that.
I don't believe.
A lot of anger, a lot of sadness, too.
It's real, though.
I wanted real stories.
We hired real actors.
And I was going around the same block over and over again.
Cute couple kissing.
Made me a little jealous, but that's OK.
When I was shooting, we were driving around one block.
So the director was on a walkie saying, all right,
now you see the couple.
Now you see the mom and the son.
Now you see the married couple.
There was a lot of acting, a lot of those moments.
And it was great because I understood what the song was.
It means so much to me.
So I kind of got to dive into that.
The director was telling me a story
where one of his favorite artists would walk to his show.
So we kind of had this moment where you could see I'm not
really about the glamour.
And I'm not really wanting to have that moment.
I needed to escape it.
So I feel like that was my way of wanting
to just go be with real people.
And I've done that in my real life, for sure,
where you just kind of want to get out of your world
and just step into life.
I'm an actress as well.
And I love being able to have real emotion in my music
videos.
I just, it is beautiful.
It's supposed to tell a story.
But I love things to feel cinematic and movie-like.
That's ultimately what the video represents.
The baby.
The father-daughter.
Yeah, that one was really special to me.
Just kind of the imagination and the wonder
that young girls have.
The first guy a woman loves is her father.
I had no idea if we could pull this off,
because it's never really been done,
where we invited my fans.
And we surprised them, which was so fun.
We said it was a free event.
They didn't know what they were doing.
And they were a part of my music video.
And we did a little movement.
The dancers are super cute.
So it was very easy for me to dance with them.
And it was great, because the shots are really beautiful.
And it's able to capture the movement.
The end of the song is supposed to represent
all of these emotions I felt.
Because it's a little, you know, I'm experiencing life.
I'm seeing things.
And then what do I put it into?
You can kind of see my frustration.
Then you see the passion I have.
What keeps me motivated is real life.
What inspires me is real life.
And it leads me to being where I am today,
which is doing what I love, being with the people I love,
and my fans.
