Hey, what's up everyone? I'm Jeff Teague, Raleigh, North Carolina. Today we're looking at the 2022 Toyota Avalon.
As a matter of fact, this is the Avalon Hybrid Limited. So wait, you gotta plug it in?
Avalon works with a combination of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motor power,
and that gives you 215 net hybrid horsepower.
It's smooth. It's comfortable. Avalon's known for being luxury.
It's also known now for being sporty as well.
So it's kind of got the best of both worlds qualities, as Hannah Montana and Van Halen would say.
I want the best of both worlds.
Let's stay on the inside and give you the first interior look.
Ruby flare pearl outside with ash gray gut interior.
This has a combination of both sportiness and you get that luxurious flare on the inside.
It's loaded up with options and features that might make you feel like you're going to pull up next to somebody and ask for some gray poupon.
So let's look what it looks like from the back so you can see the dash, the console, the visibility, all that good.
Let's take a look at the front of the interior and its plane.
And what do we have here?
We've got LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and then we've got a lot of chrome, as you'd expect on a Limited here.
It outlines that grill that's in metallic gray flex.
It's actually quite beautiful, and it's quite striking in the sun.
It has front camera, so you can see all the way around.
You'll see it has an upgraded advanced safety package on it, too.
We've got parking sonar in the front.
That advanced safety package is going to give you, in addition to other things, the bird's eye view camera.
We've got grill surround all the way down, and then we've got color-keyed lower bumper as well.
This has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 plus on it, and then it also comes with 10 different airbags, so you're completely protected,
at least as well as you can be if the worst happened and you were in an accident.
You know what's beautiful?
We've got these 18-inch alloy wheels here.
All right, we've got five lug pattern here, and then we've got some chrome here with black, the Toyota symbol in the house.
And for a full-size sedan, just look at this profile.
It's beautiful.
It's stylish.
It's sleek.
It's aerodynamic.
It also contains color-keyed side mirrors that have blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert.
This has been upgraded to rear cross-traffic braking, so if somebody's coming up from your back end, from the sides as you're backing up,
in theory, it could stop you, so that's a great safety feature here.
We've got turn signal indicators as well.
Lots of color-keyed going on here.
Lots of ruby paint.
Then we've got these chrome window accents here.
Lots of cutouts, so you have a good visibility going all the way around the bottom here,
and then we also have these taillights sweeping around here so that you get full view of whatever you need to see.
It also has smart-key push-button start on the front doors here, so I can lock it.
I can unlock it.
Just like that.
We'll come around to the passenger side here.
Lots of things jump out at me when I'm looking at styling on the inside and also features,
and I hope they jump out at you.
Not quite scary like Ghostface and Scream, but like, huh, I like that.
See right here, we've got this crisscross pattern because it'll make you jump, jump.
We've got one-touch window over here, some drink holders there, Avalon plate there.
We have power passenger seat.
Does it go up?
Yeah.
Does it go forward, backward?
It reclines.
Lumbar support.
Does it twist?
Oh!
Holla!
It does twist.
And then look at this pattern here.
We've got heated and cooled seats.
The hot stays hot.
The cool stays cool, like a DLT at McDonald's.
Kind of a cool, sporty pattern in a way, but it breaks up an all-ash interior.
Standard moonroof.
And then this right here, this console, it's interesting because it kind of locks you in,
driver's side, passenger's side, but it doesn't feel like you're claustrophobic locked in.
That kind of a thing.
You lock it up.
Lock it up.
You lock it up.
And we've got USB connectivity.
And a little shelf if we want it.
A little tray.
I could have put that in better.
I could put my phone right here if I want to.
I could put a cup right there if I want to.
And then what do we have in here?
We've got a storage unit.
You didn't even have to rent it out.
But this has wireless charging.
I like that.
9-inch premium audio screen.
14 JBL speakers.
Soft touch right here.
Some wood grain.
JBL over there.
I see it.
I see it has a 10-inch color head-up display as well.
Let's keep going to the back, to the back.
What do we have here?
I'll show you this vent as well.
This Vente Latte.
We've got this right here.
That's for cooling the hybrid battery.
So you want to just make sure that that's not covered with blankets, pillows,
stuffed animals on long road trips.
Protect your parts.
That's one way to do it.
All right.
So we've got easy-to-see, like marker lights almost,
except for there for trial safety latches right there.
Big, wide seat all the way across.
Nice, deep cup holders.
And then storage.
You can put a phone there.
That kind of thing.
And then what do we have down here?
We've got heated rear seats as well.
USB connectivity.
Temperature control.
What?
Whatcha, whatcha, whatcha want?
This back end is lit.
We've got these taillights here, and they're more aggressive.
It's bold.
It's sort of in your face like, what?
Like that kind of a thing.
Then we've got a backup camera that goes along with two cameras in the side mirrors,
one in the front, bird's eye view camera in the house.
We've got the hybrid logo here.
The back end here comes out almost like spoiler style.
Then we've got chrome badging and backup sensors as well.
You like that?
Where's the tailpipe?
Tailpipe's kind of interesting.
Is it there?
No.
Is it here?
No.
It's actually hidden underneath here so that you really don't have any access to it.
You don't see it on the road.
It's just hidden, doing its job, doing its biz.
Let's check backseat passenger space.
Do we have chicken dance room?
Well, this is a selfish driver because he's pushed it all the way back, tall person, and reclined it.
But have no fear.
Underdog is here because, look, we still have so much leg room to stretch out.
Chicken dance, da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
We've got pockets here.
The seat is very comfortable.
I like that.
A little bit firmer, raised up a little bit, and then a little bit of a hump for my legs.
I do have to straddle that small hump.
And then here, this is with the seat set for my settings, 5'8", like that.
And then just so much leg room here.
So, again, full size.
You'd expect that, but it has that.
Anytime a hood can do this, I like this.
We've got self-rising, like a bread.
Then we've got a hood blanket here.
Then we've got a little bit of sound protection with that and two different components, we'll call it.
We've got the gasoline engine, 2.5-liter four-cylinder.
We've got electric motor power, 215 net hybrid horsepower.
It's mated with a continuous variable transmission, CVT.
It's just a smooth ride.
It rides sporty as well, and you can have different settings for economy, for normal.
You can have sports.
You can drive a little sportier, you know, that kind of a thing, like, whoosh, right?
You know, like this.
That one sucked.
Whoosh.
That was better.
And what else can we get for the luxury component?
We've got four one-touch windows here, two different memory seat settings.
That one's still protected in the wrap.
Remember heated and cooled seats?
I'll show you that as well.
Yes, I will.
There's the bird's eye camera.
Should I push that?
I can push that.
I can show you different angles around, behind, stuff like that.
Let's go back here.
Heated steering wheel.
Do we have a power steering wheel?
Oh, yeah.
Wow, you can really dance.
Very cool.
Leather wrapped.
It's comfortable.
I like it, actually.
It's kind of soft.
It's grippy.
Trippy.
And on this information display here, this seven-inch information display,
I'll just take you around here.
The fuel mileage is not very good because I'm just sitting here burning fuel.
I haven't utilized the hybrid component of 43 mpg combined.
It tells us when we're using gasoline, when we're using electric.
Higher pressure by wheel.
Settings.
We can even set our head up display.
And here's the head up display.
It shows up right on your screen.
We can see things.
I even saw when I was approaching a car as I was in the parking lot getting
close to it, it actually showed right up there that I was getting close to it.
So with the clearance sonar, it actually did that.
It says I'm in park.
It works with lane departure alert, radar cruise control, your speeds, audio,
all sorts of things.
But it keeps you from being distracted.
You'll see JBL here because it has 14 JBL speakers.
Premium sound.
Excellent mid-range.
Crystal clear.
We can do menu, set up.
But all these things are designed to make it easy for you to get information
when you need it.
The dynamic navigation system as well.
This is not on the 2022, the Toyota Audio Multimedia System,
which is the newest version of it.
Still very functional.
Still very capable.
Heated seats.
What about cool seats?
Oh, yeah.
By the way, if you have on your cool seats, you'll hear a little fan coming
from in there.
Vvvv.
So if you hear that vvvv, it sounds like a portable fan.
That's what it is.
And then here below the shifter, we've got eco, better gas mileage,
sport, better acceleration, normal, normal driving.
EV is just electric.
It's for low speeds, like in a parking lot or a road construction
or an accident on the highway.
Just push that.
And for a short distance, it can give you just electric power.
You'll save fuel.
That's the brake hold at a traffic light.
You can take your foot off as long as this is activated.
It's got to be activated.
And then you can just kind of stretch out a little bit.
Electronic parking brake as well.
What about up top?
Then we've got garage door opener programming, auto dimming rear view mirror.
Oh, I forgot that's what it was going to do.
Ooh, la, la, me likey.
Oh, and it opens all the way.
There's your picture, North Carolina.
Going to Carolina in my mind.
Not LED light, but it is lighted.
And it should have a slider on it.
Slide, slide, just slide.
Now slide, now slide.
Here's a little bit more of the bird's eye view camera.
You can see it from different angles, curb view or overhead,
true bird's eye fashion like that.
And then we'll put it in reverse so you can see.
We've got some grid lines that move.
Lighting's bad, but I'm filming early in the morning to protect from the heat.
So that's what it is.
And what else can we do?
Change the angle.
And perhaps maybe the biggest reason that you're going to get an Avalon Hybrid,
43 MPG on this baby here.
It's right across the board.
Joker, Joker, Joker.
43 in the city.
43 on the highway.
43 combined.
Yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
And we've got a nice big trunk.
It's wide.
It's deep.
It also can fold down the seats.
You do it from the back.
Pull it like a car version of a grenade.
And then what you do is just.
Oh, that one didn't come down because of the seat.
So now you can put longer things through.
And then what about this?
Engineering genius at work here.
Lift.
So look at that.
Oh, out of the way.
Good soundproofing here.
Tire equipment.
We've got us a temporary spare, but we've got a spare.
All right.
I always like showing you the window sticker so we can learn more about it.
Ruby Flare Pearl.
Ash interior made in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Really good safety ratings here.
Here's what I was telling you about MPG 43 combined.
What about standard equipment?
There's a lot going on here.
I like that it has 10 different airbags.
I just feel peace of mind for me and my family.
And this one is 44-1 from Georgetown.
Then we've got the advanced safety package for $1,150.
Special color added.
Get it delivered to the dealerships.
And then all we've got here added to it is clear paint protection on the door.
Like that.
So the price will stay right about what you saw.
$46,900.
