The Clayton "Triumph" 5 Bedroom Entry Level Double Wide Mobile Home

Donnie what are you doing I'm down here trying to stay warm yo we're looking to buy a uh we got a piece of property that needs a double wide on it or a stick build house so we got to look at a couple double wides and we figured we'd bring you alone we're at a mobile home lot of what would you call it they sell them they repossess them they've got new ones used ones they install them and they have a whole bunch of them set up and you can come down and check them out so we're going to check this one out I'm going to guess this is a Clayton because it says built on the side and I think that means Clayton built over there in the middle could be so we're going to see this place has a lot of Clayton we're going to walk up in it and just see what the layout's like and what the what these things are uh what this one looks like that little symbol there ain't that The Atrium Hospital symbol it looks that way walk in the front over here look so it's got gray vinyl sighting maybe we'll walk around and show you the outside first it's got black shutters for the wind noise yeah it's a little windy today a little cold a little chilly um we're coming up on Christmas here pretty soon now we have a uh like you said we have a a piece of land that's in a subdivision it's not a mobile home park but it's a subdivision there are a lot of mobile homes there um and this particular spot actually has a a u a restriction on the property now we own the property but there is a um I don't know what you would even call that there was an agreement basically made whenever the property was first sold that in on that particular lot you couldn't put a single wide trailer on it you could put a double wide trailer on it which inherently I guess is considered just a nicer product or you could of course put a stick built home on it that was before modular homes really became a thing I think you could put a modular home on it what in the world is that plastic went down the side of uhuh well the Edge from rolling up on the it's taking everything in me Donnie and I have to pull that down don't do it don't do it they I don't want to mess with their stuff they might want it like that I don't know I doubt it but we don't want to get kicked out of this place we want to leave everything exactly how we find it how's that so yeah on the back there's no shutters that's typical you know they make the front look a little more dressed up what do you think nny I like the slideing door so far the only problem with these is they're pretty expensive now yeah and they're expensive to move them too yeah to set up a double wide I mean 20 grand Donnie's thinking it's like 20 grand I don't know that they're that expensive but maybe so here on this lot they they have set this one up it's blocked and everything it's probably pretty level um they haven't done the complete kit usually they trim them out and put the vinyl siding on them and all that you can see this one here they've got just parked here this a good example to show you so this one has not been seam together see how the the middle there so it's still wrapped all the way down that side of the mobile home I'll look in that window there and maybe we can show you but this one here has been set up so it's been leveled and you see the cinder block uh the the blocks under it and you see that it's been at least patched together lined up how it's supposed to be I would presume they put a roof cap up there to keep the water off of it see right down the center of it there that's a door handle right there yeah so it's these are just literally parked here a truck could come along pick them up and roll off with them they've still got the wheels under them and everything these probably also have the wheels under them but they've blocked it up the wheels ain't touching the ground yeah they've blocked it up off the ground so that it's nice and level um because it's their model they want you to be able to go in and look at it you can't go in this one and look at it because it's still it was never put together let me see if I can show you a picture of it um yeah so you can see there's the living room it with the the covering over the uh the where it joins together there all right so we're going to walk up in this sucker hopefully nobody's home anybody home you nobody's home so we just checked that to make sure that uh there nice some chili in here woo let tells you the insulation is good cuz it's kept it as cold as it was last night we always announce ourself when we come in one of these things cuz you might have somebody squatting in here there might be somebody working in here and they might defend themselves if they feel attacked I will say I don't think we've been in one quite like this Donnie they're all a little different the layout this one the door is a little farther down uh from what I assume is the master bedroom so this this living room is a good 20 ft wide what do you think Donnie yeah 20t you can cheat and you can usually tell by the panels the so 4 8 12 16 20 24 it's close probably 24 ft think about my truck you park it in easy yeah so it's probably a 24t long living room and I would assume it's about 15 ft wide these are probably 16t wide uh units on each side um it's got the big vaulted ceiling but I it's also fairly um plain you know what I mean there's nothing once you see the trim packages on these a little bit this is kind of just their cheapest version of doing this it looks like to me wonder what they're doing here r i wonder why they got that in there I don't know trying to hold it you can see you can see it boat out yeah maybe since the uh there's this big opening here that's some kind of I don't know maybe they just always have problems there blows the air blows that out you know they have to build these so that they can move them it's all the way wow um so yeah so here's the master bedroom also very large this might only be like a three-bedroom or something we'll see I know we'll see but uh very large master bedroom and if again if we count our panels now I know that's not a full panel but is that more than 4T yeah they make them five some of them's five that screws me all up does it one two three four five I don't know 20 ft at least let me think about I you know I judge by a basketball goal can I lay two basketball goals down here I think so that's 10 ft you know what about a piece of plywood yeah I think I think it's about 20 ft it's close it's probably 20 ft in the uh in the master bedroom um this thing's going to have one heck of a bathroom I think so there's no closet in the master bedroom we've been noticing a lot of them have the closet in the master bathroom now so we'll see how they've chosen the outfit this one now look how far off that wall that door is I'm going to think that that's the master closet and it's going to be huge huge so it's just a uh regular six panel door single vanity instead of a double that's interesting uh it's got the the way they're doing the mirrors now is they just hang a mirror on the wall with no trim and just use those little Clips to hold it I actually kind of like that cuz it it doesn't have the the fake fancy look you know and the toilet of course pretty big bathroom mhm garden tub we were in one the other day that was set up a lot like this yeah this ain't this is kind of their simple bathroom now and then huge closet in my opinion for a mobile home so it's about 15 ft wide and about 5 ft deep um I mean you could store all kinds of stuff in this closet you put a vol swag you could you could literally put a dresser on this side of the closet and clothes hanging on this side of the closet and have plenty of room to get to both of them yep but this bathroom is about as plain as the bathrooms get in these double wides it's just got the garden tub which is a little bit of an upgrade um but it's it's even only got a single vanity sink usually they have a double vanity and we've seen them with just all kinds of strange things that they've done to them um but this is you know it's really all you need nothing wrong with it let's talk about the ceiling right yeah we love these ceilings that they're doing in them now people are saying that's popcorn that is not popcorn yeah that's not blowed on that's brushed on some that's brushed on rolled on you can't spray that because it's not yeah there's a there's a pattern to it somebody said that uh they do it with a whisk broom good that's possible you know um you take a smashed up broom basically and dab it on the ceiling but I got to tell you it's a hell of an upgrade to the way they used to do them yeah they used to have the same stuff on the ceiling yeah and it looks nicer than popcorn yeah I actually like popcorn you know we grew up in the ' 80s so popcorn's fine with me I know a lot of people hate it but this is much better than popcorn it's just a nice texture and it hides all the imperfections it looks like it's actual half in drywall on the ceiling up there yeah you can see that that yeah that's half in drywall like this here is a lot less these are 38 usually and then another thing if you look you can see a seam right there so if you look there's your seam there's your two pieces joining together and they have completely hid that seam with that texture you just cannot see it very nicely done that's in my opinion that's really high end and it looks like they're using the uh the uh waffle tape they're not using the paper tape yeah they have got the ceilings as good as you're going to find them in most homes you know all right so here's the kitchen we've done one laid out similar to this recently um it's got the it's going to have the U the uh um hot water tank and and the furnace in that room along with the laundry the utility room so it's got the frigid a refrigerator it's got a little island here in the middle that's pretty common now in them a lot of them have that even the lower end ones frigid a dishwasher maybe we'll get a name of this one here for you um I would assume that's a friger a range yep frigid a range and then the the hood is always a different brand this one is unbranded so I think they're actually made by Clayton it could be that those don't have very many regulations on them so the company is able to make them themselves 28 wide this only 14 on each so okay 28 wide 28 for 76 the Triumph This Is The Clayton Triumph people you probably already knew that from the uh title cuz I'm sure to put it on there uh We've mentioned many times we really like their their load centers that they use now and this is how they're doing their hot water tanks look at this bad boy here this thing is expensive too probably $1,500 something like that I looked at Lowe's they've got them but they ain't even got them priced yet yeah so it's it's like a hot water pump it's something to do with heat I believe yeah somebody said that it operates a different from the um from the U heating system the furnace but so the furnace you know is a heat pump and they're they're saying that the hot water is working the same way somehow so whatever I'm not a plumber obviously yeah I don't know nothing about it these doors are pretty nice too um yeah this is they're metal doors but they're they're kind of thick for what they are um some of these you've seen are really thin just stamped uh steel this actually has a weight to it pretty nice I like how it's double LED yeah backwards so there's no rough there's no rough edges for you yeah so it's pretty cool all right and that's the washer and dryer goes up yeah washer and dryer here there's the main water cut off that's a neat way to do it we need to think about that in the future yep um putting it in that little tub there is a great idea yeah so you can always get to so you know if you need to turn off the water in your house basically this this line is going right to the hookup underneath the mobile home so uh you can just turn it off right there now they've usually got that in each of them but this is the first I've seen it where they put it inside this little box box here at my house for instance I've got this and this but I don't have a main water cut off right there that'd be a great place for it yeah you got to go through the the jungle and find it yeah yeah so this this area here um I mean you could complain about the quality of the drywall and stuff like that but as far as the layout this is just great I mean this is how you would want it recess lighting yeah recess lighting all through the home I've noticed whole house ventilation yeah that's whole house ventilation I'm sure so there's a switch over there to turn off the ventilation um so the kitchen here now so we saw the living room there's also a that's I mean in my opinion that's a fullsize dining room um what's left to be desired in these things are the cabinets yeah the cabinets are always kind of cheap although this doesn't look too bad but it's like paneling yeah it's very very very very thin the doors the doors are really thin this here I mean it's like paper yeah it's just a sheet of well you can see it there see how thin that sheet is that's how thin the outside is too be real easy to put a foot through that yeah it's uh the somebody come up with a good thing you know how we talking about these swelling yeah somebody said that uh they take and put uh oilbased paint under them so they won't absorb that would be a great idea absorb water yeah cuz your problem's going to be if you get water on the surface um if it drips over that the first thing it's going to do is rot out underneath that look too if you let the light hit that at the texture on the mhm so it's like they're trying to make it even feel like marble you know but yeah that's the uh and another thing no panry yeah no panry and everybody complains about that it's just the common complaint is there's not enough shelves now there's a little bit above the refrigerator like there is in most of them this one has a lot more than they usually do really I mean it's got probably twice the storage that a lot of mobile homes do but yep there are you can all you can't ever have too many cabinets so let's walk down the hallway see how they did the back half of the home huh this looks like it's going to be set up a little different than usual so here's the traditional Hall bathroom um I think that's the shorty bathtub is that regular SI can you tell I don't think so cuz you can tell the toilet yeah so that's like the 54 56 54 the 54 in bathtub instead of the 60 a regular home usually has a 60 that one's a 54 um but this is they have put this bathroom in every mobile home since like 1970 I mean that's the hall bathroom they're always like that vanity right there toilet right there short bathtub with the same surround um um and the reason they do it is cu it works just fine yep all right so this is bedroom number two little Hall bedroom again it's small but this is a hell of a step up from how they are in a lot of single wides the the the room would stop about right where that window is so you you got an extra 5T of of room here that you wouldn't have in a lot of mobile homes pretty nice really with own light got the Deep closet there with its own light in the closet and its own light switch that's pretty cool yeah usually they're not that big a lot of times in the single wides there will be a bedroom on this side and a bedroom on that side so this this closet is split in half and that room gets a closet and this room gets a closet but because of they're behind the bathtub but because the way this one's laid out you get one whole Closet in this little Hall bedroom you can see here they put the transition thing under the door oh never mind this isn't the side that's another interesting thing Donnie they've ran the hallway down this side so the rooms on this side are a little shorter than the rooms on that side but that little piece under the door there there's a similar piece that would go over this to hide the the seam Ste 6t closets Man 6 7t long closet nice decent size uh bedroom bedroom here number three bedroom number three yeah that's a that's a pretty good size closet maybe 3 and 1/2 ft and uh maybe 6 ft deep yeah something like that with another recessed lamp up above this bedroom number three detor smoke detector in it has code there's another one in the hallway there this is something that they do they joint before people love that show them what you're talking what you talking about that two before is only that long y then another one's this long then another one is this long then another one's this long then one this long yeah it's just then this long they're making them out of little pieces and they're not all like that like this one's fine but this one's all pieces and if you look that is a I mean they're using it as a 2x4 even though it's pieces of a 2x4 you can actually even see the joint right there look at that there's a big knot and you can see the fingers of the piece next to it look at that crap and they may have a where they've decided Well hell this one's solid so we can make this one cheap I don't yeah if they hook this header here that might damn stop it all I don't know but it just you know kind of makes you wonder this here's another one so it's like this side is solid it's a it's one piece but this side's a little Pieces Just ways to cut Corners that I guess save money but for the amount of money it Sav you wouldn't think it would be worth it you wouldn't think a 2x4 now is you know $5 so this is bedroom number four this home is really similar to one we've already done cuz I remember the closet being like this so this is behind that other closet from that end so this whole end of the mobile home is Clos well this side is closets mhm bedroom number four and are we about to get a third bathroom have we done one with three bathrooms yet I don't know I don't know so this is the exact same bathroom it's just opposite mhm um so you know or actually is that the 60 in I can't tell we one of these days we'll bring a tape measure that's not 60 yeah that that you can that's not 5T you can tell no all right so uh same deal there it's bathroom number three and it has this little Landing here area plastic sinks plastic sinks that's always something you go this a little smaller bedroom number five the bedroom itself is pretty decent size for a kids room you would assume would be a kids' room if you had five bedrooms and then uh kind of the traditional closet it's a little thin closet on either side of the door another smoke detector and another smoke detector well D there you go this is a this a nice one you know we did another five bedroom yeah but it had a big bonus room at the end was that a five bedroom I can't remember we'll show you that one with the big bonus room
