The Untamed Wen Qing Hanfu

Hi everyone, how are you? I hope that you don't mind me getting directly into the topic of this video. There is a Chinese series, a Chinese drama that came out in 2019 called The Untamed. It is based on the novel. I really do love that Chinese series, the actors and the characters. There is a character called Wan Ting and this video is about her first hanfu that she wear at the Cloud Research Chapter Season. On YouTube, there are five different untamed costumes that I saw. Unfortunately, it didn't include Wan Ting's hanfu. Well, I find it quite sad because I would have loved to see a video detail of the different layers of the hanfu that she wear. I counted like four or five different hanfus that she wear during the series. This is my take on her hanfu. So, please don't come after me because this is the first time that I made a hanfu. I found this picture online and I did try to figure out the many layers of the hanfu that she wear. So, this is my take. There is a black inner shirt, a red outer shirt, a black inner skirt, a red outer skirt and a waist band. I know that in the picture, you don't see a black inner skirt. In the series, when she move, you do see a black inner skirt. The black inner shirt well, first of all, the color is quite white. So, what I did is that I took the pattern of a the exact fabric used by the production team. So, I have to find a similar fabric to deal with. The sleeve took me quite a while to do because I made the embroidery by hand and oh my god, I hated my life during that moment. But once it's done, well, it was quite easy to assemble that. Sorry, I don't know how to say that. The corner of the collar. For the skirt, I could have sewn the black inner skirt and the red outer skirt together. But I did them separately because I need the red outer skirt for the second handful of the character weaving. Well, I have already done the second handful and I am in the process of doing the video and you will understand why later on, when you will watch the second video, which I will do it another time. For the black inner skirt, I could have simply do a normal pleated skirt but I wanted to wear it as a everyday skirt. So, I'm quite cheated. When I watched the ultimate video costume of Wei Wuxian, well, he's wearing a skirt like that. Wei put an elastic waistband but I did it differently. I just simply put a normal waistband and I put zippers. Plus, knowing me, well, like any lady, I want to have pockets in my skirt. So, I did a long pleated skirt with a pocket and zippers. I unfortunately lost the footage of the red outer skirt. Let me explain how I did it. So, I cut six rectangles. I did the seam so I layered them on top of each other like this. With this fabric, I cut four rectangles, two for the front and two for the back and then I added a waistband. I did not forget to add the two strings to tie around my waist. For the waistband, it was very easy. I just cut a rectangle through the corner and put in the string and also a black ribbon and there you are. Now, for the headpiece, I made it myself. I just used hot glue gun to make the headpiece and then first hand clothes that she wears. And yeah, this is actually the first hand clothes that I made and please don't come after me saying that it is very ugly. I did try my best. But you know what? Whether you like it or hate it, I don't care because I made it and yeah, it is not the prettiest hanfu, the prettiest work but I don't care. I made it. I'm very proud of my hard work, you know? Yeah, because I put my blood and sweat into this. Yeah, I made it with my own hands. It was a very hard work. So yeah, that's all for today.
