Hi, my name's Lisa from Pilates by Lisa, and today I'll be taking you through
my anti-aging facial Pilates routine. Now, I've been doing these exercises for as long as I can
remember as a part of my fitness and my beauty routine. I was introduced to these exercises by
my 80-year-old grandmother, and if you could see her, you'd be doing these exercises every day too.
She has beautiful glow to her skin, it's flawless and smooth, and she credits this to her facial
Pilates routine. Your facial muscles play a critical role in the contouring and shaping
of your face. These exercises improve circulation, increasing the blood flow to give you a healthy
glow. They also work the muscles that lie underneath the skin to help to firm, lift,
and tone, and also decrease the tension that causes fine lines. Now, we're going to be pulling
some pretty interesting faces with this routine, so make sure you're somewhere that you feel
comfortable pulling some silly faces. We're just going to have fun with it.
Now, this routine takes about 10 to 15 minutes. You can do it any time, anywhere. You can even
do it while you're watching TV over nighttime or when you're stopped at the traffic lights,
if you're brave enough. So, let's get started. We're going to start from our neck and then work
our way up the face. Now, this is my favorite exercise for toning, sculpting, and defining
through the neck area and underneath the chin. So, to begin, we need to make sure that we have
an underbite. So, what I want you to do is push your chin forward and bring your top teeth behind
your bottom teeth. You're going to keep that position and then you're going to come with me
and follow along as we lift and lower the chin. So, come into your position and then lift towards
the ceiling, keeping that underbite the whole way through, and then lower down. We'll do that 10
times. Lift and lower. Good. Lifting up and lower down. Eight more like this, lifting up to where
you feel comfortable. It's really important to make sure as well that you have a neutral spine
when you're doing this exercise to make sure you're in the correct position. Lift up and feel
the muscles under here working the whole way through. Six to go and lower. Drop the chin right
down towards the chest. Five more and lower. Just four more and lower and three. I want you to really
feel those muscles at the top of the exercise. Two more and lower. Last one. Hold it for just a moment
at the top and then lower all the way down and come back to the center. The next exercise is to
get around the lips and also to help to plump and firm the lip area. So, now we're going to
make a shape like we're going to stick a straw through our lips and then really push your lips
forward as far as you can. I'm not going to be able to talk through this one. I'm just going to
hold it with you. I'm going to hold it for 10 seconds, but just make sure you're really pressing
lips and pushing them forward. Let's get started and release. Okay, so you should feel this through
the top of the lip, just above, through here as well and also slightly through the lips. We're
going to do that twice more. Okay, so come with me now and hold it for the same duration
and release. Okay, we'll do that one last time. Pressing the lips and pushing forward,
really putting your energy into it like you would a Pilates exercise and release. The next exercise
helps to firm, shape and lift through the cheeks and through the jowl area. Okay, so this really
helps to build up those cheek muscles and this is one of my favorite exercises. So, we're going to
pull our face into a long O shape like you're screaming or yelling O and then you're going to
try and pull the insides of your cheeks towards one another. Okay, so you just want to create that
sensation. So, once again, we're going to hold these ones for 10 seconds. I'm going to hold it
with you. We're going to do it together. So, make your face in that long O and then pull
and relax. Good. So, you should really feel that through the cheeks. It's a fantastic exercise.
Okay, so once again and relax. This one's tough. So, you should really be feeling it right through
this area all up here. When you're doing this last one, try and just tense your cheek muscles
a little without wrinkling your eyes. Again, you're going to really feel the exercise even more
and relax. This next one's a little bit more discreet. So, this is when you can practice
anywhere. This helps to firm and lift the area underneath the eye and through the crow's feet.
So, we're going to make sure that we're almost squinting without furrowing the brow and keeping
the rest of the face nice and still. You're lifting the lower part of your eye halfway up
your eyeball. So, you're lifting and tensing and feeling all these muscles working and then
relaxing. Lift and relax. Lift and tense and then relax. So, you can see I'm not actually making
any lines around my eyes when I'm doing this and this helps to firm, tighten, and tone without
creating fine lines. Four more and three, two, and now just hold this last one. Just holding it for
10. Good. Making sure you're relaxing through the rest of your face, pulling those eyes up,
tensing and firming. Good. Three, two, one, and relax. Let's do that again. Firm and lift under
the eye keeping the rest of the face nice and relaxed and release. Two, and three, four, and five,
six, and seven, eight, nine, and hold. Just holding so you're not creating any expression
lines but you're feeling those muscles working, toning, lifting, and firming. Three, two, one, and
we'll do that one more time through. So, just gently lifting the lower eye and then relaxing. Two, and
three, four, and five, six, and seven, eight, nine, and just hold this last one. Firming those muscles,
working, keeping the rest of the face nice and still. Four, three, two, and one, and relax.
Now, I just want to make a quick note with that one. If you're not used to these exercises and
you find them difficult to maintain and hold, just like with any other exercises, with practice,
you'll become better. So far, we've worked through the neck and the chin and jaw. We've firmed,
lifted, and plumped the lips, worked the cheeks, around the eyes, and now finally the forehead.
So, what you want to do here is just move your hair out of the way. You're going to place your hand
on top of your forehead. So, this helps to just iron out any wrinkles through the forehead. Now,
you're going to keep the hand there and you're going to push your eyebrows up against your hand
as firmly as you can, like you're trying to lift your brows, but you can feel that resistance. So,
it's the push and pull that we do in Pilates. We're going to keep pushing those eyebrows up
against our hand for 10 seconds. So, keep that going. Keep the rest of your face nice and relaxed
and keep pushing up and feel that tension through the muscles of the forehead. And once again,
the hand is stopping those wrinkles from forming. So, you're working the muscles without creating
any fine lines. Four more seconds, three, two, and one, and then just relax. We'll do that twice
more. So, make sure the hand is nice and firm against the forehead. Lift the eyebrows, press.
And eight, seven, six, five, really pressing up as high as you can. Three, two, one,
and relax. We'll do that one last time. Good. This is fantastic for decreasing those 11 lines
between the eyebrows, decreasing forehead wrinkles, lifting the entire face. Good. Four,
three, two, and one, and then gently relax and take the hand away. Now, as a bonus exercise,
I like to do this one of a nighttime when I'm laying in bed. Close your eyes, and I want you
to imagine that all of the muscles in your face are being pulled towards the back of your head.
Now, when my nun describes this one, she says, you want to imagine that all of your wrinkles
are being pulled around to the back of your head when no one can see them. So, you want to close
your eyes, keep your face relaxed, and then just feel those muscles smoothing out, all of your
wrinkles smoothing out and being pulled towards the back of your head. Five seconds, keep that
going. Feel the tension through those muscles working. Feel all those wrinkles gathering at
the back of your head, and then relax. We'll do that twice more. So, you need to close your eyes
and just visualize those muscles pulling towards the back of the head. Good. Really feeling that
tension, feeling the muscles working under the skin. Three, two, and one, and then relax.
One last time, closing the eyes, feeling those muscles working, feeling the skin smoothing out,
feeling the face lifting. Three, two, and one, and then open your eyes.
Now, hopefully, your face is feeling refreshed, you're feeling those muscles have been worked.
Even if you're a skeptic, give these exercises a go and just feel the incredible benefits. I
absolutely swear by them. Most of you that follow me know that I am a big advocate of natural beauty
and health, and this is a fantastic way to keep your skin looking fresh and youthful without any
hidden nasties. Thank you for watching, and I can't wait to see you at the next video.
