Hey everyone and welcome back to Handyworks. I have already folded the edge of the fabric
and pressed it with an iron to create a clean and finished edge and secured it in my wooden hoop.
Now I'm marking two parallel lines of dots one centimeter apart along the folded edge.
These dots will act as a guide for our herringbone stitch helping us keep it consistent and neat.
I'm using the light green floss and working from right to left.
Now let's start stitching the herringbone stitch. Try to keep your stitches evenly spaced
and at a consistent angle. This will help create a neat and tidy herringbone stitch.
Once the herringbone stitch is complete it's time to add our tiny flowers.
I'm using the red floss and the lazy daisy stitch.
That's one petal. Repeat this to create a small flower with several petals.
It would also look lovely on accessories like scarves or bags.
To finish off the flowers I'm adding small sepals using straight stitches with the white floss.
This border is perfect for embellishing all sorts of garments.
Imagine it adorning the neckline of a dress, the cuffs of a blouse, the hem of a skirt or
even the edges of a sari. You can experiment with different fabric colors and thread combinations
to create your own unique designs. Instead of the lazy daisy stitch you can try other simple
flower stitches like the french knot or the bullion knot for a different look. Get creative
and have fun. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you did be sure to give it a thumbs up
and follow Handiworks for more stitching inspiration. Happy crafting!
