And you see Tyler Glass now in his first two starts.
The first one really good against the Braves.
Tough weather night at Philly,
and you see only lasted two innings.
The five walks really stand out.
I expect him to bounce back tonight and be on point.
Ian Happ, the switch-hitting left fielder,
steps in from the left side.
Ian Happ swings at the first one.
Michael Conforto is out there, and there quickly is one down.
Here's Tucker. Tucker on a line.
Caught by Kike.
He plays everywhere on the infield.
And three pitches, two down.
Turner, I gave you those numbers.
If you're just joining us, 0 for 14, 10 strikeouts.
That's borderline ownership.
Woo!
That ball, strike three.
He went with another fastball. Had a little tail to it.
It's a big challenge for a big guy, David.
Well, it really is, you know,
and the question becomes with Colin Ray
is he's not stretched out,
so his efficiency early in this game is big for the Cubs.
How deep he can get, how many innings he can give.
Mattoni's ready, as is the righty Ray.
That's a good bam for the four-seam fastball,
and he sits down.
Here's Mookie Betts, the shortstop for Los Angeles.
Three-two, Betts.
He's gone, chasing outside the zone at 95.
Back-to-back punch-outs to start for Ray.
Two-two, he got sawed off.
Ray will get to the bag before Edmund,
and a very, very good inning.
Dodgers and Cubs still scoreless.
Top of the second on tap.
Bush hits this one to fairly straightaway center.
A little drift into the left-center field gap,
and it's caught out there by Tommy Edmund in center.
And Glass now retires Bush.
Corner at 294.
If Migo can get on,
he would try to maybe steal a bag here.
This one is to right.
Tay Oscar a couple steps to his left,
and then back a few to make the play.
Six up, six down for Tyler Glass now.
Michael Conforto twirls the bat toward the mound.
He's ready to go.
Left-handed hitter against the righty Ray.
Swings it, the first one up the middle,
and if Carl Armstrong's not going to get it,
nobody's going to get it.
A single for Conforto, first hit of the night.
Conforto is aboard, and the batter now is Will Smith.
And Smith breaks his back, little blooper,
and that's going to find Greengrass.
He is safe at third.
Oh, aggressive base running from Michael Conforto,
going first to third on the bloop from Will Smith,
and the Dodgers have the Cubs cornered here in the second.
Stocky strong, left-handed batting,
Max Muncy at the plate.
Cubs keep the infield back.
Swing and a miss, and Muncy goes down.
Just continue. He talks to himself,
walking out of the box.
Big second out for Ray,
who's got four strikeouts so far tonight.
First and third, two out.
Nothing and one to count for Kike.
Kike sends one in the left.
Hernandez delivers a two-out hit here in the second
to give the Dodgers a one-nothing lead.
Third inning, Cubs trail one-nothing.
Pete Pro Armstrong first up against Tyler Glass now.
Swings and sends a sky-high fly ball
down towards the foul pole and right.
And it hits right off of it.
California kid.
That hit way up on the foul pole.
A towering drive by Pete Pro Armstrong,
and this ballgame is tied one to one.
A man on in the batter, Matt Shaw.
That's in the dirt. It gets away,
and the Cubs will take advantage of that.
Carson Kelly heads down to second base.
That's out!
Oh, a strike three.
That's part of the struggles for Matt Shaw
when a ball looks like it's inside,
and he thinks he's got to walk,
and instead, you get called out on strikes.
Back to the walk machine, Ian Happ.
He flew out his first time up,
and this time he sends one to center field.
Edmund, big jump, big dive.
He makes the play.
What a play by Tommy Edmund in center field.
I didn't think there was any way
he was going to get to that sinking line drive.
Never doubt Tommy Edmund.
Bottom of the third, top of the order for the Dodgers.
And Nico Horner is at second base and wearing a microphone,
and we'll let this plate appearance play out
before we engage with Nico.
Ha!
Maybe not the guy you wanted to play
while you're talking to the booth.
Big swing, good call.
Nico Horner all over it, and there is one.
And that is a big out.
Tell us about the things that shaped you
as a baseball player growing up.
Tommy Edmund, center fielder for the Dodgers tonight,
was a teammate of mine in college, played short.
My freshman year, and I played second,
so amazing to see all the success he's had here.
All right, here comes the fan question for you, Nico.
Hey, Nico, got a question for you.
Who is your favorite older teammate at Stanford?
That's a layup.
Hey, baby.
So you know who that was?
Was that Tommy?
Yeah, it was.
Tommy is great.
Tommy is a...
It's amazing the player that he's always been
an amazing player, but the power that he's developed
into has been so impressive.
Dodgers and Cubs still locked at one apiece.
As we welcome you back for the fifth inning.
Miguel Rojas is out there at second base.
Let's go back to last night, Biggie, for a second.
You pitched, you came on a relief,
and you had imitations.
When did the idea hatch to do the imitations?
And do you have a favorite one?
Because we're seeing them on the screen now.
So when I play catch in the afternoon...
Oh!
Wow, too tight.
When I play catch in the afternoons with Muncie,
who's my catch partner,
we always mess around with our staff kind of deliveries
and the way that they pitch.
Dodgers one, Cubs one.
And here's Otani.
And he rolls one over to second.
Playing it back was Horner, and he's able to get him.
So there are two quick outs.
Edmund batting from the left side
with a right-hander Keller on the mound.
That's going to get down.
That's going to set Mookie Betts to second.
He rounds.
Now he reads it and will head to third.
But Tommy's now on first,
Betts on third for Teoscar Hernandez.
Teoscar lifts one into the shortstop.
That stands to be swung.
Dodgers one, Cubs one.
We're into the sixth inning at Dodger Stadium.
Two down, nobody on.
Michael Bush the batter.
Good battle going on here between Glassnell and Bush.
Let's see where it lands.
Deep in that pen, Bush does it again.
It's two-one in favor of the Cubs.
Long gone for Michael Bush.
And the Cubs lead two to one.
The Cubs now ahead two to one.
And the Dodgers are threatening with minutes second and third.
Swinging and a drive.
Hucker, but the tying run will come in.
And Max Muncy does the job.
We're tied at two.
Will Smith is on third base.
It's the go-ahead run.
Only one out in the bottom of the sixth.
Quique Hernandez up.
Three-two.
Oh, it's caught.
I believe Shaw was able to snare it.
That's one to center.
Karl Armstrong takes a few steps in.
He's there.
Rojas will leave Smith at third base.
Dodgers hold even with the Cubs.
Two-two.
Pete Karl Armstrong with a home run in the game.
Armstrong gets into another one.
Sends Edmond back.
He's watching it land in the stands.
What a night for Pete Karl Armstrong.
Pete Karl Armstrong with a long home run.
His second of the game.
And the kid from Sherman Oaks, which is about 30 miles away
from here, is putting on a show in front of friends and family.
For the top of the eighth inning,
the Dodgers continue to trail the Cubs three to two.
Alex is on the mound.
He's facing Kyle Tucker.
Sends this one to left.
Coming in now, going back.
Conforto.
He cannot make the play.
Craig Council may have seen some chalk fly.
He may ask for a replay.
I think it hit the glove, too.
It hit the line and the glove.
That's going to be a fair ball.
Watch the marking.
It's right there.
After a few, the call on the field is overturned.
It was a fair ball.
Went out of play.
The runner will be placed at second base.
Yeah, he's leaving the batter's box.
That's big.
So now you have insurance in scoring position for Chicago.
Held up.
He's going to get there by himself.
Now a man at third.
Still first and third.
Now two out.
Not out of trouble.
Nico Horner.
And he swings to right.
He's safe.
And the Cubs lead at four-two as Tucker comes home.
Top of the ninth inning in Los Angeles.
It's the Cubs with a four-two lead over the Dodgers.
First pitch is seen by Pete Crow Armstrong.
He's thinking two.
He may be thinking three.
The yard breaks.
He is heading to third.
And the ball spiked there by Rojas who tried to hold up.
As a result, two homers and a triple for the road runner,
Pete Crow Armstrong.
He has homered twice tonight, Ron,
and now just for good measure, he throws in a triple as well.
Bottom of the ninth, set to begin at Dodgers Stadium.
The Dodgers trail the Cubs four-to-two.
Veteran right-handed closer Ryan Presley with a two-run lead.
There's a strikeout, and he went with a curve ball.
You saw the strikeout rate at 6%.
He's better than that, and that right there showed it.
Dodgers Stadium with a jolt of life and energy
with Freddie Freeman at the plate.
He wants to bring the tying run to the plate.
Up the middle, folded Swanson,
and that terrific Cubs defense pays dividends
and prevents Otani from coming to the plate as the tying run.
Great play by Dansby.
Took a base hit away from Freeman,
and that quiets the crowd.
Trying to keep the game alive.
Four-two Cubs.
Presley against Otani.
Otani on the ground.
The Chicago Cubs use pitching, base running,
and a Pete Crow Armstrong night to remember.
To take two of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers,
they win it four-two.
And the Cubs played some great baseball here
all weekend long, Ron, at Dodgers Stadium.
