In 2019, Yuji Nishida was a MONSTER !!! Back in 2019, 19-year-old Yuji Nishida was absolutely unbelievable. His athleticism was out of this world – the way he jumped was just insane, like he had springs in his legs. His power, precision, and energy on the court were something else. At such a young age, he was already playing like a seasoned pro, dominating against the world’s best volleyball players. This volleyball video is from the Volleyball World Cup 2019, and it shows exactly why fans all over the world went crazy for him. Nishida was a MONSTER!
Yuji Nishida (西田 有志, Nishida Yūji, born 30 January 2000) is a Japanese left-handed volleyball player. As of July 2024, Nishida plays for Panasonic Panthers at club level.
Nishida made his debut with JTEKT Stings at V.League on 6 January 2018 in a match against Sakai's Osaka Blazers Sakai. His impressive debut at the young age of 17 soon earned him a position in JTEKT's starting six,[5] as well as on Japan men's national volleyball team. Nishida led the national team to seventh place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, its best result in 29 years.
So, Japan, a bit closer.
Oh, Gabriele Neri looking to try and take Yamamoto out of the game altogether there.
The dink from Neri rescued Yamamoto, of course.
The push doesn't work.
Drive in and then the switch.
Nishikawa setting up to go for the big one.
Oh, that rescued from Yamamoto.
Nishikawa, beautiful.
Nishida with a freebie down the line.
Looking for some more.
Skims the net corner.
That's not a good sign.
The teenage terror.
Coming up with another kill.
Oh, absolutely ripping through this.
Well, that's the rocking match-up you'd all get at a Spartolia.
Nishida, there is bread, there's butter.
And there's the block there to deny it.
Oh, no, no, no.
Nishida, just in the phase of his second set, has arrived.
Let's see if they can side out here.
Nishida makes sure of that.
Japan are getting a bit of pressure now.
Yamamoto is struggling.
He gets hot.
And we have a good chance.
Japan have got to keep feeding him.
He's got to keep hitting as well as that.
Italy on the board.
They want to be serving up lollipops like that.
Because at this level,
Golami then.
And look to try and close this gap.
Nishida.
There's so much on him.
It cannoned around all over the place.
And ended up on the other side of the net.
Look at this.
Flies off Golami.
Final attempt at D.
Trouble staying alive.
If he didn't get his hands up on that,
that might have smacked him fully in the throat.
Oh, goodness me.
Here comes Nishida.
That always means trouble.
Always.
Immensely.
They're opening up a nice big lead here.
Amir Hossein Isfandiyar.
Marouf now serving.
Sakita hangs it up for Nishida again.
That's good.
Same time again.
Still around.
Chase, chase, chase.
He'll stay on.
Got to watch these blockers Japan.
Sakita goes backside.
Nishida.
That's a point.
Top part is.
With a point on serve.
Tends to go full on.
We've seen a lot of those.
Now Masuko Golami.
Serving Ishikawa.
Sakita will go backside.
Nishida.
The block sold out.
They committed.
Majara and the youngster.
Have done their homework on Nishida.
They see how he loves to just swing through all the time.
If he'd swung through that,
the block would have eaten him up.
But he dinked him.
And nobody expected that.
Dropping it.
Golami with serve.
He's gone backside again.
Nishida goes for the dink.
Good effort there by Masuko Golami to pick it up.
You want your middle blockers.
Scrambling around for that.
Don't you?
That's what you want.
A lot more ground for them.
Monopolizing the point scoring.
In the early stages of this match.
Japan maintaining.
A little edge here.
Now where's that going?
Maruf comes brilliantly.
To just keep that in play.
But Japan.
From resetting Nishida.
There he goes.
Maruf just helping out on his way.
A big left handed swing.
From the youngster.
Here we go.
Watch out.
Backside.
Gone.
Nishida magic.
On the far side there.
Nishida loves to swing.
Put everything on it.
But he's learning that you gotta just.
Take the edge off sometimes.
A little dink.
Catches the block on its way down.
Can't defy the laws of gravity.
Now it's not coming.
A soft one.
They've got a chance here.
Here we go.
Lever.
Is wiped out.
On set point.
My goodness me.
They were there together.
Nice take from Ishikawa.
Nishida drills it.
That'll do it.
A much more entertaining.
And certainly a lot more competitive.
Second set.
We have a lead here.
And he's overdue.
Yuji Nishida.
Pretty quiet on serve so far.
That had two of them going for it.
And there is the ace.
Had to cut.
With Yuji Nishida.
It's always a case of when.
Not if.
This was a beauty.
A sizzler.
Low.
The lead is down to six.
That's a real soft slow one.
From the sandwich.
Nishida.
Takes care of that.
Took a technical time out.
Comfortable.
It'll be Mohamed Ayek.
To get this five setter.
Under way.
This is his first serve.
Not the toughest one to take through Ishikawa.
And it's just about.
Scrambled through by Yuji Nishida.
Big power hitter.
He's only 19 years old.
Has way too many grows into his body.
Because he brings serious power.
Doesn't know what holding back means.
Sanchez.
Oh.
That's a tough block on.
A block with one hand.
Nishida doesn't go through the gears.
He's full on every time.
He'll get a few blocks against him.
That was a tough one to put away.
Kowalski got a touch.
But couldn't do anything.
That's taken well.
But this is just inspired.
Absolutely brilliant.
Play with the soft stuff.
There goes Nishida.
Switch up.
