Sydney FC welcome the Lion City Sailors to the Sydney Football Stadium
for the second leg of the AFC Champions League 2 semifinals.
The visitors arrived with a two goal cushion and an impressive record
on the road this season.
But Sydney have turned the tide in the second leg
at once already in this year's competition.
After missed opportunities last time out, fans will be hoping Patrick Klimala
and Adrian Segesic can be more clinical in front of goal today
as both start in an attack minded 11.
Leonard T scored his 33rd goal in all competitions in the first leg
and Rankovic will be counting on his main man up front again today.
Maxime Lestienne also starts for the visitors from Singapore.
Well, all the pressure on the team in baby blue.
Sydney FC playing from left to right in this first 45.
Ninth minutes of action here and the first chance of the game as well.
Iswan Mahbub called into action by Anthony Caceres.
Decided to go it solo from an acute angle, does well to work the keeper.
Nearly 40 minutes played.
Douglas Costa with the corner, straight down the middle
and into the hands of Mahbub by Aleksandr Popovic.
Probably could have done better there.
The stoppage time of the first half.
Sydney still without a goal, haven't conceded either, though.
Still well and truly in this with plenty of football to be played.
Need to take chances like that one for Patrick Kimala.
Six goals in the competition this season.
He should be hitting the target.
0-0 at the break, still work to do for the Australian side
in the second 45, early into the second half here.
It seemed too much from Lion City so far.
Now perhaps Lestienne on his left foot tries to go on looking for the top corner.
The sails well widened over in the end.
Does well to cut back.
And seems to be a little more precise with the finish.
Joe Lollick coming back the other way.
Lovely little threaded through ball to Kimala.
Tries to chip Mahbub from close range.
Can't get quite enough lift on it, though.
Stays at 0-0.
50th minutes.
Plenty of action early into this second half.
Play off by Thi and Costa to Lestienne.
Leaning back on the efforts.
Again, up and over for Maxime Lestienne.
But much better from Lion City.
Cegic, all out wide to Douglas Costa.
Whips one in first time.
Kimala with the header.
Yet another save.
That probably the pick of the bunch for the Lion City keeper.
Time running out for Sydney as they come forward.
Plenty of the ball, plenty of chances as they did in the first leg.
Unable to find the back of the net.
Now perhaps Joe Lollick over the top to pick him out.
Again, just not enough on the header.
Douglas Costa.
Throws the back post.
Balls kindly for Joe Lollick on the half.
Lollick! Joe Lollick finds the bottom corner.
And Sydney have a lifeline.
Is it too little, too late?
That is the question.
It's a great finish from Joe Lollick.
Well, despite Sydney's efforts and a late glimmer of hope,
Lion City hold on and secure their place in the Continental final
for the first time in the club's history,
where they will face Sharjah FC for the AFC Champions League 2 title
on the 18th of May.
