Friday Five - Most recent season-opening PBA Tour champions

He does this every Friday. The last shot. Get low and get on up. Incredible. Absolutely incredible. I mean, you can't place it any better than that. It just splits the 8-9 in half. And what a performance. He beat his last game against Barnes by over a hundred. Huge ham bone for True. That much closer to his first major. And guess what? With this next shot that Kyle True throws in the 10th frame, he's basically going to say, hello world, I have arrived. I am legit. I'm real. I'm not a sideshow. I'm a main event. Yeah. NASCAR Cup Series racing from Daytona coming up next. But first, it's True. Nine pins away from history. There it is. He woke up Monday saying it's a major week. Sunday, it's a major title. Finally for Kyle True. Ready. That adjustment in the 6th frame was a $250,000 adjustment. Going in long. Going to feed on Tyler. Bryan, Cindy, Ramon, y'all. One step closer for Belmont. If Belmont does not strike on this next ball, Rash can strike out and win. He's six pins away from another major championship. Solves the left lane. Ball change. Ball change? Is that correct? Are you kidding me? Incredible. I think he needs at least six. To wrap it up. He'll get nine. He's got the win. Belmont adds to his legacy. Yes. The great Jason Belmont, he has done it again. His 14th career major. And stands the record. Thank you. He wins the 2022 PBA Players Championship. Well, that's kind of a great way to kick off the new year. And our first telecast. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Good ball, Matt. And now it's Tackett's turn. Has to strike on this shot. Last time up on this lane, massive ring and 10 for EJ Tackett. He's trying to get some oxygen. He's got two re-racks. Just got enough of this to get the 10 out. He liked it right off his hand. So Tackett used one of those re-racks. Eight for the win. Eight for the U.S. Open title. Dad, Ed. Oh, what a great moment. Yeah. Natalie wearing the green sweatshirt. Her husband's about to get a green jacket. Let me throw one more shot. EJ Tackett. Triple crown winner. Rolls it out. Tour title 17. His third major. Tackett hugs it out with troop. More bowling coming your way later this month with the collegiate championship. And EJ Tackett looks good in green. So O'Neal with life in the eighth. Look out. Friction. Bill O'Neal. He won it in 2020. And that's how you take advantage of an opening given to you by your opponent. Max score O'Neal 233 still. Max score Smallwood 224. What a beautiful shot by Bill O'Neal right here. You can just never count Willie out because he's just tenacious. He can do so many different things and he's got such great touch. Bill O'Neal. I'm sorry. No, he could have shot 250. Yes. And Bill O'Neal is the 2024 players champion. His third major and second at the players. He's still got it. Don't ever count Bill O'Neal out folks. $100,000 bill for Bill O'Neal. The satisfying moment of the match is sponsored by Snickers. Nothing satisfies like a Snickers. A back injury. A tough win in last year. That back's feeling great right now. He's heading back to PA with hardware. Had to spend the night in Houston on his way here. Missed practice session and still won. I love you. Think of his dad. Think of his family. Congratulations Bill O'Neal on winning your second PBA Players Championship.
