just needs a couple more coats I think
And um
yeah I won't split them up from their
mates My instant reaction is I hate it
[Music]
Good morning guys Welcome back to
another edition of my garden diaries I
think that's what I'm going to call them
now my garden diaries Basically this
year I'm trying to focus on my a lotment
garden and also my home garden as well
This was neglected last year because I
got my a lotment plot and it was brand
new and it was like a complete jungle
and so I had a lot of work to do on it
But this year the a lotment plot is sort
of under control It's ready just to
plant straight into and so I've got some
time to dedicate to my home garden as
well And that's exactly what I've been
doing So in the last garden vlog and I
will leave the link below if you haven't
if you haven't seen it yet I started to
make some really big changes in the
garden and just try and tidy up a few
areas that weren't looking so good Let's
say one of those areas is just in front
of the shed here It's just been really
difficult to know what to do with it
because the soil underneath the ground
sheets that I've now put down is just so
terrible It's full of chalk and rock and
you can only dig down a little bit
before it turns into almost completely
solid rock So I don't know if there's
maybe a patio buried deep under there
somewhere or just lots of rocks and
stuff but it's just been a really
difficult area of the garden So I've
done what I can with it on the budget
that I've got which is not very much I
don't want to spend thousands on the
garden you know Um so this is where we
are so far A lot of you were very
unhappy to see me put this down but this
is basically weed membrane that I've put
down over the whole area in front of the
shed And the idea is going to be to
gravel it which is what we're going to
do a little bit little bit of today
We're also going to change the color of
the shed I know not everyone will be
happy with that decision either but the
shed has been yellow for about 3 or 4
years now and I absolutely love it It's
so beautiful and sunny and it's a real
real nice like pop of color But after 4
years I'm a little bit bored of it So
we're going to paint it a nice saged
green and I think it will really
transform the garden Changing something
like the color of a shed is just like it
changes the whole feel of the garden So
I'm very excited to do that The first
thing we're going to do is put down some
more gravel Now I've only brought five
bags because it's very expensive So I'm
going to do it in bits when I can and
we'll see what it looks like Right let's
get

going Heat Heat

[Applause]
[Music]
Right Well we're definitely going to
need a lot more bags than this which is
uh what I predicted anyway To be fair
that was six bags The thing is is it's
so expensive to buy it in bulk and um I
want to make sure I've got the exact
amount I need And obviously this is
spread a lot thinner than I really want
it to be I want it to be a lot thicker
than this But what I'm trying to do at
the moment is just cover it so that it
looks good So we're sort of in the
middle of having this really nice spring
weather So I sort of want it to look
good so we can sit out here straight
away now it's sunny you know Um but it
needs like a few more bags to sort of
layer it up a little bit make a thicker
layer You can see a bit of the ground
sheet That's not great But yeah I do
like how it's looking I think this is a
really nice area We have some pots on
here and some planters and stuff I think
it'd be really beautiful Good Happy with
[Music]
that Right let's get this paint open So
we've gone for um fresh rosemary by
cook Are we going to like the color
let's have a look It's a bit late now
cuz I brought loads of
it I better bloody like the color Oh
yeah I do I like the color Oh that is
very nice That is a lovely color That's
going to really really be a big change
I'm excited to get it on the
shed Right Here we go
Yeah I really like
it Yeah I really like
it Thank god I like
it Yeah that is
actually that is such a pretty color I
really like it I'm so relieved I'm so
relieved like it cuz I just brought the
whole paint before even trying it
So that is going to look really good
Right I'll keep going
[Music]
[Music]
[Laughter]
[Music]
Okay guys It's had one coat I think it
probably needs two maybe three coats
just because the yellow was so strong Um
I I do like it Okay I do like the color
and I do like it but when I change
something big like this my instant
reaction is I hate it Like I genuinely
get bored of things and I do know that
things need to be updated all the time
and changed and stuff and I get it in my
head that I want to change it but then I
do and then I hate it and I want it back
the way it was So it's just the way my
brain works But I'm going to show you it
now You can see a bit behind me It looks
a bit more white on the camera actually
I don't know if it's coming out but it
is a bit greeny in real life Here it is
Completely different I mean could not be
more different Isn't that so weird how
the color of a shed can completely
change a garden i think I like it Once
again ignore the fact the shed is so
wonky We are going to fix that But
color-wise I really like it Actually I
do like it I think it's just going to
take getting used to Yeah Okay I don't
hate it I don't actually hate it
Actually when it's got flowers around it
and stuff it'd be really nice I'm going
to put some more flowers I've got like a
made a little mini window box there So I
fill that with some flowers and then
hopefully it'll spill over and look
really nice Just needs a couple more
coats I think And um yeah Okay I'm going
to take a break and then do some
planting
[Music]
[Laughter]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
Right guys I've done a couple of coats
on the shed now so it's looking really
good I think I'm going to plant
something into this window box I don't
have anything specific but what I do
have growing around the garden are a lot
of forget me knots And actually the blue
against the shed will be really pretty I
think So I'm going to plant into
it Also you can see accidentally cracked
our window there so it needs replacing
So I'm going to try and hide that
horrible sticky
tape Could just replace the window but
you
know why not make things harder for
yourself look there's just so many
growing all around my borders I only
sprinkled a couple of seeds and they
come up all everywhere now every single
year which is lovely So let's steal a
few The beautiful thing about digging up
and moving forget me knots because I
have done it a few times is that they
don't die back They sort of continue to
grow So you don't get that awkward
period where they start sort of sulking
They just sort of live straight away
which is just
excellent proper survivors These
are right That's a good
bunch
God grow in there
[Music]
[Laughter]
[Music]
Oh yeah look at that So pretty Didn't
cost me anything Just dug it up from the
garden stuffed it in How beautiful Just
ignore the dodgy tape on the window We
will replace this But for now how lovely
[Music]
[Music]
Right So guess what's going up this
little structure that I've just made
it's just a couple of bamboo canes and
some twine if you couldn't guess that
That's right guys sweet peas More sweet
peas Last year I could not grow a single
sweet pea and I think I've taken it
really personally and this year I've
just gone overboard on them So I've got
two lots of them at the a lotment plot
so far and um I've got two lots of them
to go out in my home garden as well So
I'm absolutely determined to get a sweet
pea this year cuz I really missed them
These is a sweet pea mixed and they do
have the scent So hopefully hopefully
they will grow all up this fence here
and look beautiful and smell lovely too
and I can pick them Right let's plant in
my third lot of sweet
peas I mean if I do not get one sweet
pee this year it will be a tragedy I
think sweet peas are a myth If I don't
manage to grow one this year after all
this effort I don't think they really
exist I think it's fake news and I don't
think anyone's ever really seen sweet
pea before I think they're all liars
Even me even though I've grown them
before right they're all stuck to each
other I'll just grow them out in the
clumps that they come they come out in
Actually I won't split them up from
their
mates Maybe that make them
happier Yeah we'll do them like this You
can all stay together with your friends
and be very happy As long as you grow
for me I don't mind
[Music]
There we go Lovely row of sweet peas
ready to grow And then we're going to do
one more So I'm going to do exactly the
same thing along this little trellis
here Um and I have to make it a bit
taller cuz I think they do grow a bit
taller than the trelluses but I think
that will look really nice as a wall of
sweet
[Music]
peas Right Well you might have noticed
on that shot that I' I've actually
already got some sweet peas um along the
fence here And these are the ones that I
sewed in toilet rolls You can see I've
left the toilet rolls in on my a lotment
plot I planted some of these out and
they all died So I assumed that these
are dead but actually they're doing
really well because they were started a
little bit earlier They could be sort of
ahead of their ahead of the game So I
don't know This has got like a new a new
bit growing on it These are doing so so
well So we'll try and leave these in
We'll make the structure over the top
and then we'll plant some in
[Music]
[Music]
between Right These ones are the Spencer
variety which again I think they I think
they smell
Yeah slightly scented Okay it's not the
most not the best scent I'm trying to
smell them now They haven't got any
flowers on now They won't smell now Not
the highest scenting sweet pea but you
know what they're pretty good right with
these ones we're going to sort of break
them
up Oh please don't die
[Music]
Right And then the last bunch of sweet
peas I might actually do in a pot um and
have like a little mini sweet pea teepee
because I'm very excited about my new
pot area Um but I don't have enough pots
yet So I need to go out and get some
more pots Um and another thing that I
wanted to say in this blog was thank you
so much for all your advice about the
plants that I brought So this one here
is Irish luck and a lot of you told me
it gets very very big So I am going to
move it I planted it here in front of
the clemetus but I'm going to move it
because it's just not going to work
there if it gets too big I mean I could
keep clipping it and sort of make it
Well no I don't want to So I'm going to
move this one And then the yellow plant
the facthia is here Is that how you say
it for Cynthia Foria um is here And I'm
happy for that to get big So that can be
a nice big plant there which I think
will look really pretty because you can
see it from our window Right Okay Well I
will leave the vlog there because I feel
like it's going to be a long one Hope
you've enjoyed my little garden tour
garden transformation Um we're getting
there We're getting there with it
There's still a few things that I want
to potter around and do and change We're
going to move a fly into my nose Why do
they do that they've got all the space
in the world Literally they've got the
world and they always go straight into
my nose Anyway I've got lots more to do
We've got um to finish all the all the
stones get some more planters and pots
and kind of like plant this area up a
bit so it looks really nice But um for
today that's all I'm doing So I hope
you've enjoyed the vlog If you have do
subscribe to my YouTube channel and I
will see you again on Monday Have a
lovely gardening weekend See you Monday
