Museum of Antiquity and ruins of Armenian church of Saint Nicholas. So let's begin
with from museum. So museum is located in this small old church of Lodz building.
Very small there are five or six rooms I don't remember. Initially there are some rats
less to say of forest animals which used to live here. For example giant deers or this tur,
yeah the horns of tur. And on these maps you can see the previous forest in Ukraine.
And this map the current situation with forest. So you can imagine that in Kamianets-Podilskyi area
maybe 1 000 years ago there was a wild forest around. But humans decided to cut off all these
trees and now there is steep, almost steep. So in another rooms there are some different household
items, plates, jars and other things which our ancestors used to have in their houses.
Moreover in this area there were a lot of excavations. So I think the result of excavation
you can see in this small museum. Further through this long corridor you can come to the open air
area. Yes and in this area there is a collection of stone idols. Usually such
idols they are mostly they were mostly common in the south area of Ukraine.
In Odessa area, Kherson area, the Kyrgyz area. But also in Kamianets-Podilskyi
there were some of them and it means some tribes
how to say built up very actively here them here too.
Moreover there are some inscriptions in English so foreigners also can visit this museum without
Ukrainian speaking guide. So and around the corner to next to the museum there is a ruins of
Armenian church of Saint Nicholas. There are some rare photos how this church used to
used to look like in the end of 18th, 19th and beginning of 20th century. So the church was very
luxurious and big. But as you see on these photos Soviet communists came into power in Ukraine
and they decided to destroy all the church including this one. So this church was destroyed
in 1935 and only some front part remained as you see here on the video and also some basement of
this church. Tower was not destroyed but even lately in 1976 it was
how to say renovated by Soviet authority. Lately they decided to keep this historical place.
Some entrance to former church basement. I don't recommend to enter there.
Also you can climb up by the way the tower itself is closed for visiting
but you can climb up to this the rest of this facade part here to make some photos and videos
from the height of this.
