I'm Jacob. I'm Yuri. And we're going for a cruise.
2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. With crawl control. But we're actually not going to use it. We're
going to go nice and slow ourselves. Lots of articulation going over these rocks right now.
Yeah, we're on a trip in San Diego for a bunch of Toyota launches. And this thing looks awesome.
We are in the 1958 version, which is very base trim in this one. We've got circle headlights,
but then you could also have the Land Cruiser version, which has square headlights that
represents a different Land Cruiser from the past. That's right. But we're going to focus
on this one in this video. So look forward to our Land Cruiser review, which is actually a trim name.
So right now I am in four low in a articulation section, and we currently don't have a sway bar
disconnect on this model. But there are trims of this truck that actually do have that. And what's
cool is there is a first edition trim 5000 units in North America, which gives you the features
from the Land Cruiser trim in the looks of the 1958 trim with the circle headlights. Yeah,
that's right. Oh, that articulation. This is good. And if you don't get that right away,
you might not never get that again. So hit up TSB.TrueCar.com to look for that when those come
out. Discounter price offers. So we do have a center locking differential and a rear locking
differential in this one. So I am actually using both of those right now in four low. You can also
use four high. This is a proper all wheel drive system. So no, no joking around here. So this is
on the TNGA-F architecture, which underpins the other Toyota trucks like the Tundra and all that
kind of stuff. So we are driving numerous Toyotas on this trip. Look forward to more videos and
thank you for choosing this one if you chose this one to watch. So let's continue it off
with the horsepower and torque. 326 horsepower, 465 pound feet of torque from a 2.4 liter turbo
four cylinder hybrid I-Force Max. And this is only offered with that powertrain. Yes. So that's
pretty cool. Lots of power there. Yeah. Well, I can't really feel it right now, but I'm sure once
we drive this on the road, because that those numbers are very good. And then we do also have
an eight speed auto. So no weird CVT-ness in here, even though Toyota CVTs are actually quite good.
And then this is only a two row SUV. However, it looks like there's room for a seat at the back.
There's cupholders at the back. There's a climate in the back. And I think Europe or other parts of
the world, they actually do get this in a three row version. That's right. And I'm just focusing
on everything that I'm doing right now while driving. So the steering is very, very light. Like
I'm literally I could do this and I don't feel like my wheels are doing anything. And we do have
a bunch of drive modes, but I'm actually not even touching them. Like I actually this truck doesn't
even care what drive mode it's in as long as you've got you're in four low and you're off road. But we
have a mode select button up here. We've got our drive mode indicator and all that stuff.
So this being like a base trim, we've got a small infotainment and then we do have a full digital
gauge cluster in the middle. But it's smaller. Yeah. And I can't see any of it from here.
But this feels great off road. I'm so glad the Land Cruiser is back as what it is. So the 1958
is obviously the name from when the Land Cruiser first came to the States. If you people on the
didn't know that. But it's cool that they brought back like the heritage kind of like
circle headlights. And there's still LEDs in the base trim and in the first edition as well. Yeah,
it looks like looks wise, man. This thing looks very cool. Reminds me of an FJ. Yeah. Yeah. Like
the the what are these called? You're the things that I'm pointing out right now. Mirrors. Thank
you. The mirrors. The mirrors are reminiscent of that as well. And then on the upper trims,
I did see that you can also get a camera rear view mirror and then you can get 360 cameras,
which we don't have in here. And honestly, the size of this thing, I don't feel like I need them.
I'm sure it would be nice. Not as big in person as it may look in photos and stuff. Yeah. But
it's really nice to have that rear cargo space in the back because this thing looks massive. Like
our bags look like they're not taking up any space back there. Yeah, that's actually probably
a pretty cool family car. I would love this as a family car. I don't know if my wife would,
but I just love the look and idea of this. And we also have heated seats over here and
hard climate, which I can see and function while I'm doing this off-road course. And like,
I'm literally just looking over here and I'm like, oh, cool. I just keep my seat and whatever.
Nothing distracting. You have to like go through the infotainment to do any of it. It's great.
Oh, we got a rocky section over here with some guidance. I want you to slow down a little bit
because I guess I'm going too fast. Slower down, Jacob. OK, here we go. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
It's just taking the suspension feels really good. It feels good. The seats are comfy. These are like
super cool looking cloth. You can get different ones in the higher trim. Yeah. Oh, dude,
this thing's just eating this up. I love the size of this thing. Like I would hear feels great. Yeah.
Like if this was that Raptor we drove in Utah, it'd be a little trickier or if it was like a
proper F-150 Raptor. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So this is a little narrow, but I think I can still
take this and water. Oh, wow. Can I do a full splash like a hundred miles an hour?
There are so many rocks so close to everything. Yeah. There's a lot of rules out here as well.
But shout out to Toyota for flying us out here in economy and putting us up in a fancy hotel.
All right. So let's do a little water crossing here. Left hand down. Do you know the waiting
depth of this vehicle? I actually don't. I don't either. But I believe that our tires are at least
partially submerged right now. Do you have to worry about waiting depth when you have a hybrid
vehicle? I wouldn't know that, but I don't think Toyota would do that if that was a thing that
they had to worry about. We will find out. I don't know. It's in my head. I don't know. I'm like.
Yeah. OK. Now I actually don't see anything. So 360 camera would be nice. There we go.
OK. Looking down here, interior plastics, lots of them, but it doesn't feel cheap in any way. It's
like a very good Toyota way. Not like a GM way. It's like, oh, this is a base model. It's supposed
to look like this. But like if this was the GM touch plastics and stuff, for some reason, it
would just be like a cheaper quality. I mean, it kind of it's kind of similar. It's a slightly
different pattern. Maybe that's what it is. Yeah. And then we don't have a sunroof in here or
anything like that. I don't really like sunroofs. Yuri likes them, but I don't feel like I'm missing
out. It's a nice option to have. Look how dark it feels in here. Yeah. Yeah. And the parking sensors
are beeping for us constantly and there's no way to really turn them off out here. Yeah. We can
lower them, I think, in our off-road mode, but it's not going to mute it. Well, I guess it's
kind of good for not hitting rocks. And then like, yeah, man, it would be nice to see that
stuff on a camera. Do we have modes that will show us our angles anywhere? I haven't really
found them right now, and I'm just going to follow this guy's instructions. So Yuri, if you can find
them, I'm going to dig through the infotainment and I don't think it's in here. I think it would
only be articulation that I bet that rear left wheel is in the air. I bet you it's only in the
gauge cluster if it has it. How much was that left wheel in the air? So you can only set up
your levels on this trim in the display, it seems, in the gauge cluster, which is pretty cool. Yeah.
However, because I have traction and everything off, it's just... Does it cover it the whole
time? I have to keep pressing back. Wow. It's a Toyota safety thing. Yeah. They love their safety.
Yeah. That's horrible. Yeah. But driving this thing off-road has been fantastic and we got
some cool looking wheels as well. I think the Terrain Contact AT would be the preferred
Continental recommended tire for off-roading. That's what I would put on it. That's what I
would too. You're round, not even off-roading. Well, exactly. That's what I have on my Ford
Raptor. And this thing is screaming at me because we're potentially going to hit a tree. Hey,
this has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but it doesn't have the Apple CarPlay thing where you
can have the menu on the left show up at all times like the Camry that we just drove. Are we allowed
to talk about that? Because this is before that. It's not a driving impression. Heck yeah.
So the Camry video will be coming out shortly. So Yuri, I think it's time to get you in here
to talk about the rest of this thing, whatever's left. All right, Yuri, send it on this higher
speed course, but also it's blind. So try not to kill us. All right. Right, right, right, right.
Yo, this is handling like everything. Yo, and the approach and departure angles have been fantastic
in this. I think it's like a shorter overhang and stuff like that. Yeah. It's kind of fun not
having cameras in the front. You just kind of whatever. The drone is not going to pick up
the elevation change. So I think it's left. Yeah, I'm good. I'm good. This is my first
time off-roading on a course I've never been on. Today, yes, Yuri. All right. There's a guy waving
me up. We're not getting like high sided or anything. This feels unbelievably capable.
We're in four high now, which is great because we just finished the four low section. And
this is sick. Also, this like motocross course that we're on. Now I can't see. There we go.
Just straight. Oh, that's a big drop. So what else haven't we talked about yet about this?
I don't know, Yuri. Do we have a wireless charger? No. No, we have a hard button climate,
which is amazing. I think you'd mentioned that. I did. Yes. You mind the gloss black in here?
There's barely any of it. Do you mind the smaller screen? Not at all, Yuri. What does it sound like
from the outside? I wonder if this thing rips, we'll find out on the road, hopefully.
You know, I'll rip it up this hill. Oh, we haven't talked about gas mileage. It's actually a 23 miles
per gallon combined, which I actually don't even know what that is in Canadian, but it sounds like
it's an OK number. It's hilarious not seeing where you go. I know. Would you ever off road
with this in Ontario or would you just kind of have this as like more of a fashion truck?
I mean, as a fashion truck, this is pretty impressive. I think I think this would do
really well where we live because it's not super wide. Oh, my God. Yeah, this is I've
never taken a car through this much like crazy stuff. This is awesome. Yeah. Like compared to
the Jeep Gladiator thing that we drove that one time, this is like a pretty crazy, weird,
undulating course. If you had to pick a headlight, would you pick square headlights or round
headlights? Because I'm going full team round. I'm honestly it's it's really hard for me to pick. I
love the round, especially because they are LEDs, but I just I like all of them. Like they did a
really good job with both trims. I'm going to cop out and say, I don't know. How about color? I love
this white color. This feels like a super base spec, but like in a badass way, like those steelies
on there. Yeah. And these like seats are very comfortable. But I do like that first edition,
like yellow mustard color. That is pretty cool, too. Yes. I think it's called Trail Dust.
I think it's a solid name. If I could get one, I would do first edition in trail dust because
that's like, yeah, coolest of everything with the most amount of tech, even though this is
pretty sweet with like no tech. I just love the two tone roof on the middle trim, that trail
dust with the white roof. Yeah, it's kind of like an FJ, right? Whereas this is like one solid color.
And I don't think you can get a different roof color in the base. We got cup holders in here,
by the way, which seems to be squarish. And what about these visors? This is a pre-production
vehicle. I don't think Toyota is good at this. Three, two, one. No, no, no. We've got a flap,
a big flap. Whoa. What are you scared? I didn't see where we were going. Well, I don't know. We
just follow the path. Yeah, this is sick. Dude, that approach angle is really good. Yeah, I didn't
buy it. I think, well, maybe I touched them. Don't hit that. Well, the mirrors probably fold in. It
should be fine. Let's see if they do fold in. Oh, we got one touchdown. Oh yeah. Oh, these mirrors
are actually pretty sick. You think you could rock this as a family car? Like I think everyone
would be happy if we had this. You know what I mean? I think I could. I think my wife would
be happy with this. I would love this as a family car. I don't know if my wife would,
but I just love the look and idea of this. Like it's really nice in here. Although I just feel
like I would have to get the Land Cruiser trim just because it has like leather-ish seats.
These cloth are nice, but they're firmer in the back. Yes, but for like cleanability for a kid.
Do you fit in the back behind yourself? Because I fit. I do actually. At five foot eight? At six
foot one and a half, I do fit very comfortably back there. Oh, that's cool. I don't even have
to follow any grooves. I can just go wherever I want. I know. It's doing so well out here.
Dude, this is actually so sweet. Yeah. And the drone shots that you guys are seeing the entire
time is actually us. Yeah. So shout out to the drone operator for getting sick shots.
Took that tree out. Better luck next time. Do you notice the light steering out here? Yeah,
but it's like perfect. Yes. Yeah. It feels exactly what I'd want it to feel like. Oh,
another cool thing. Those rear seats, they fold down and then flip up if you'd like. Oh yeah. So
that's a cool, another cool feature about this. And then I think all the new Toyotas have safety
sense 3.0. Yeah. So that's good to get all that adaptive and stuff that's across the whole line,
which is cool that you're getting it in such an off-roady vehicle. Right. I already see the
little blind spot monitor indicator on this mirror. Yeah. I got all this stuff here on the steering
wheel and the steering wheel is nice too. Yeah. It looks cool. Everything about this looks cool.
Wasn't there a company that copied this? Oh no. And I was Hyundai copying a Land Rover,
right? Yeah. I guess so. Yeah. Santa Fe. Yeah. I'm like, are they copying something? If they're
copying, they're copying the FJ. I'm like, oh, but it's there. So it's okay. This suspension
is taking it. This, this is unreal. I actually, I actually love this after this course. And I love
the way it looks like everything about this Toyota did a killer job with this. All right.
So with all that out of the way, let's get to the price. So this 1958 is the lowest cost
version you can get. And it starts at $55,950. American. The middle trim, which is the Land
Cruiser. Yes. It's a trim with the rectangular led headlights is $61,950. American. And then
the most expensive first edition is $74,950. 30 degrees down. I hit the yellow. So I think
pretty good pricing. I think they did a good job. The GX, I guess it would be the equivalent
Lexus product of this, which is comparatively priced, but obviously more because it's Lexus.
The worst part is it's probably tricky to get one of these. Yeah, probably. These are going to be
in very high demand. I think. So make sure you hit up tsp.truecar.com before everybody else.
Yeah, definitely do that. I honestly, if this was the only version I could find,
I think I'd be happy with. Oh, for sure. I'm going to hit that sign. Why would you do that?
I'm trying to, I thought you were. Well, thanks for watching guys and look forward to all of our
other Toyota videos that are still coming from this event. Like the Camry, which is,
I believe the next video. See you later guys. Thanks for watching. Jump in.
This course never ends. I don't think so. Whoever set this up as the course to show
off this vehicle should get a raise. Yes.
