A Catholic Paradise | Colombia (El Santuario de Las Lajas)

This place is unbelievable. I don't regret one bit coming to this place. It's so beautiful, it's so picturesque. Everything is so natural, so well kept, so clean. No one word could describe this place. It's too good. It's too, too good. So I'm approaching the main site which is the, the sanctuary. This is simply amazing. This church was built in the mid 1900s and it is said that it is a place that's very holy 1754 there was a woman by the name of Maria Meneses de Quinones and her daughter Maria. During that time they were passing through the valley and there was a violent storm that came out of nowhere so they had to come at this particular place, this particular site to find or to seek refuge and shelter from the storm. And within the whole mix of the whole story little Rosa saw in the sky the silhouette of the Virgin Mary. She expressed that to her mother. But what is interesting about the story is that little Rosa was unable to hear or speak and she being able to exclaim that she is seeing the Virgin Mary, it became known as a miracle. However it's not the only story of miracles taking place at this site. And as I said before the place in itself is known to have miraculous properties. Just being here, going to the church, going to pray. So hopefully I could find some type of divine intervention and maybe a miracle would happen with me. I'm going to try to take a walk in the church. Let's see how beautiful it is. I need to be quiet. So it's not a mass that is taking place right now because there is no priest and there are no lay ministers to conduct the mass but people are still doing their devotions and I can see up front that they are still lighting their candles making devotions to which ever saint that they need to devote the light to. What I've been told as well too is that at night they usually have a mass and they light up the entire site. I was told that I should come at night but I don't think I'll be able to get good camera footage of the valleys. So yeah this is a beautiful place. Very very beautiful place. So that little corner there it's a statue of an angel that is dispensing some water and people would go and they would put rosaries around the neck of the statue and collect the water as holy water. It's an interesting and religious thing that they're partaking in. So I think this has brought me to the end of this trip and it has been very very very beautiful. I can't reiterate how much I've enjoyed coming here. I don't regret it at all and I recommend that anyone wanting to try to cross the border or even just having to stop by Nipiales for whatever reason, please stop by because this place is simply amazing.
