So if you guys are ever curious as to how I edit some of my videos or throw like a film
look.
I have a plugin called Dehancer.
Dehancer is just a film emulator.
So if you guys are ever curious on how I color grade or have certain effects in my videos.
I have a code in the description if you guys ever want to use it.
So shout out to Dehancer for sponsoring this video.
So in this video it's going to be similar to my last video where I go out and find some
camp.
If you guys haven't seen that I'll link that above.
If you guys are from Washington or at least western part of Washington you know it's been
really sunny out lately.
Kind of want to enjoy the weather while we still have it.
But yeah like I said I found a spot along the Hood Canal.
Never been there before.
So wanting to go out and explore a little bit.
So if you guys haven't noticed I tend to answer some frequently asked questions.
The question that I think you guys have or at least I've seen in the comments is how
do I make money from all of this and how do I afford this lifestyle.
So I'll answer that when I go out and find some camp.
Alright so I'm on the road to get to the spot that I have and really really rookie mistake
because I did not download the map to the spot that I'm going to.
So I think I might have to try to find it old school and just keep driving until I see
something.
I do know that I need to continue up the road and then there's a right turn somewhere.
Having a map is no good at this point because this is what I see currently.
The other option is to throw my drone up and see what I can find and I think I might actually
just end up doing that.
quick and then fly the drone because the spot I have picked out is actually up this road
and up around this corner so I'm going to fly the drone to see if there's anybody up
there.
Alright so I just got the drone up and I thought the spot was right here but actually it's
up this way.
So I'm going to turn back around and then go up this road.
Looks like there's a, I didn't see it but apparently there was a road up here that leads
up this hill that I'll show you here in a second.
One of the benefits of having a drone, not just to get footages, but to scout areas.
I'm literally the only one here so I'm going to park here for a second but I'm going to
see what's up this road.
I think where I want to be is up that road.
That way I know for sure that there's nobody there so you can tell the sun's coming out.
I'm going to head up this road, that will be camp for tonight.
It's still pretty early so what I'm probably going to do is open up the tent, just let
the air in and out and then make some food.
The question you guys have is how do I make money from doing all of this?
How do I make money from content creating?
How do I afford this lifestyle?
Because not too long ago I did a overview of everything on my Forerunner.
I went through the entire build somewhat and some of the people asked is there's a lot
of gear that you have, how do you afford all of it?
Yeah, and it was just the overall of how do you afford this kind of lifestyle.
Short answer is that I have a 9 to 5 still so I still work a day job.
Me doing all of this is just a weekend thing.
I would definitely love to do it full time but fortunately it doesn't pay a whole lot.
It's not as much as some people say it does and that could either just be me on how much
I make versus on how much somebody else makes which is very very different and I did not
realize that.
Number one, YouTube does pay and YouTube does pay you on a monthly cadence but you gotta
qualify first.
The second one would be affiliate marketing and then the third one is like brand deals.
Total combine all of that, YouTube pays the most and then I believe affiliate marketing
and then brand deals but just by looking at it, you can definitely make more money doing
brand deals if you are good at negotiating and if you're consistent on YouTube, that
definitely can pay you a lot.
So I'll be fully transparent.
Based off of YouTube, I think my strongest month was around $4,600.
Affiliate marketing wise, I think my strongest month was like $160 and then brand deal was
like $200.
So it's not a whole lot.
It's not, in my opinion, a lot to live off of.
But that being said, I still have a 9 to 5 that I still work and then I come out on the
weekends and then do all of this because I was doing it anyways, I just never filmed
it.
Tip for anybody that wants to do any of this is, in my opinion, just do it.
Doesn't really matter if you're whatever you're filming or vlogging or doing what I'm doing
right now.
It's going to be bad at the very beginning.
Don't go back and watch like my very first videos like it was trash.
I barely knew how to talk in front of camera.
I kind of don't know how to talk in front of camera now but I'm a lot more used to it
and I got used to it as time went by.
Just start.
Just start doing it.
You'll get the reps in and then it'll come natural.
I know this is a advice that everybody gives on YouTube if you ever look it up is that
your first couple of videos is going to be pretty bad.
That's true because you have no idea what you're doing.
You don't know the shots that you want.
Yeah, you just don't know how to film a whole lot of things and so I had to kind of go through
that edit some of my videos to understand that some of the stuff that I'm looking for
doesn't work.
Some of the stuff that I do and then find out the stuff that does work and so as you
can see now probably in this video, there's a lot of b-roll that you need to get.
I can go a lot more in depth on how I create and edit videos and stuff if you guys are
interested.
If not, I'm honestly going to do it anyways.
Answer to that is how do I make money from all this?
I work a nine to five and the money I do make is from YouTube affiliates and brand deals.
This arguably might be one of the best sunsets I think I've ever seen because for one, it's
peeking right through the mountains and then you got the lake down below and it's casting
this crazy shadow over here.
I feel like as the sun starts to set, it's going to hit those mountains and then you're
going to get this crazy, crazy glow.
As for dinner goes, I think I have, well I don't think, but I have marinated steak right
here so it's just fish sauce, oyster sauce, and a little bit of sugar.
I guess I didn't realize this but mountains are peeking over over there.
I guess when I arrived, the clouds were covering a little bit so it's showing up now.
Let me take you on to the other side.
You 100% cannot see this but what I'm pointing at right now is Mount Rainier.
This is a super clear view of pretty much everything.
I don't think you guys can see it.
You guys might as super faint but that is Mount Rainier over there.
Very curious to see what this place looks like in the morning.
I think the sun is going to rise over on this side but it just keeps getting better and
better.
I cannot wait to see what the sun looks like when it goes right over the mountains over
there.
Anyways, on to dinner.
Yeah, this is one of the best sunsets I think I've ever seen.
Very nice.
What time is it?
7.30.
Yeah, I think it's time to grill up the steak.
I think I was too occupied enjoying the sunset as well as flying my drone.
Just below well done.
It's basically well done.
I'm just trying to be nice.
The good news about it is that the marinade that I used created a crust specifically with
the palm sugar that I used.
Although it is well done, it is also crunchy.
I'm going to enjoy this and then enjoy the view for a bit.
I'm going to probably call it a night.
I'll see you guys tomorrow morning.
There is some firewood down this way.
I think I'm going to go grab it and try to start a fire over here.
Also, I do want to check out on how far this receiver can go.
This is hooked up to the mic over here and then on the Sony I have an adapter that DJI
sells.
We'll see on how far this can reach.
Apparently, it can reach pretty far.
We'll find out when I come back.
I'm back.
Hopefully, the receiver is received.
I don't know if you guys ever noticed but I generally don't like starting fires.
For one, I don't really bring firewood with me.
Number two, forest fires and number three, sometimes the smell.
Speaking of smells, I do like the smell of firewood during this time of the year.
Let's see if I can start this.
Devin Chetsoe, Devin Chetsoe releases the D3.
Devin Chetsoe just short circuited that.
Loco, that's a break it.
That's a break it.
