Hello and welcome back to my channel.
So a couple of years ago I heard a quote that shook me to my core.
All right.
And that quote is this, you have the same amount of hours in your day as Beyonce.
I feel attacked.
So then the question becomes, why am I not Beyonce?
I mean, I kind of am in my own mind.
I am in the shower.
I'll tell you that.
What you accomplish in any given day and what you end up accomplishing in your life, it
all ultimately comes down to time management.
And I'm going to share with you guys today, my best tips and tricks that I actually use
in real life to shave seconds, minutes, some cases hours off my week.
We're going to jump right into it.
Starting with ways that I like to save time in the household slash cleaning arena.
First thing is a little trick that I absolutely swear by.
This is something I tell myself over and over throughout the day, like 10 times a day.
And that is one touch.
The idea that every item you're interacting with, you want to touch it just one time,
meaning you want to put it away right after you use it rather than putting it down and
having to go clean it up later because that's going to waste you time.
So let's say you're drinking your cup of coffee, you're done with it and you want to just put
it down right here on the kitchen island.
Think to yourself, one touch, you walk over, you put it right there in the dishwasher.
If you can do this throughout the day as you're interacting with things, it will save you
so much time because it's going to prevent a mess from accumulating in the first place.
Now I do realize that having kids kind of makes the one touch method difficult throughout
the day because you're busy, you're wrangling little monsters.
So what I do here is I have two times a day where I set a 10 minute timer for a speed
clean right around lunchtime.
I'll set my 10 minute timer and I will clean up the mess that's accumulated and ideally
get your kids to help.
And then again, after dinner, I set a timer.
Sometimes that one needs to be 15 minutes because there's a bigger mess and I run around
the house and I speed clean all of the toys and the mess that's accumulated.
Having the timer there, it's a psychological thing.
It makes a difference.
It makes you move faster.
For laundry, one of my least favorite things to do, instead of doing multiple loads, I
use these color catchers.
And what this allows you to do is mix your whites, your colors, your darks all in one
load and by putting this in the load with it, it will collect any dyes so you don't
have to worry about colors bleeding or staining or anything like that.
They're magical.
These are magical.
So it's going to save you time having to break your laundry into three or four loads.
You could just do it all at once.
So now I just do my regulars and I do wash my athletic wear separately.
One thing I do to save time when getting out the door, because I'm always switching bags.
Sometimes I have a diaper bag, sometimes I need a purse, whatever it may be.
So what I've done is I've put my necessities in these clear bags.
So now whenever I need to leave the house, all I have to do is move the clear bags into
a new purse versus having to dump things out, find what I need.
I just go, whoop, take out the bag, put it into the new bag and I'm ready to go.
Another thing is I always have my diaper bag fully pre-packed and ready to go.
So if I am going anywhere with the kids, I have the full diaper bag with an extra set
of clothes, anything I could possibly need for both kids because oh my goodness, it would
take me so long to leave the house with prepping and packing everything for the kids.
With summer coming up, I have a beach slash pool bag that's pre-packed and in the garage.
So if we're going to the beach or the pool, there's extra things that you need, right?
Your sunscreen, your hats, your beach towels, things like that.
So I have that pre-packed and in the garage.
So if we are going to the pool or beach, I just grab that.
Now let's talk about how I save time cooking because let me tell you, I used to waste hours
and hours a week between deciding what I'm going to make, finding new recipes, going
to the grocery store, prepping, cooking, cleaning, like this is hours a week, okay?
So what I've done is I've been using HelloFresh for years and years now.
I've talked about it so many times here on my channel, but it really is a genius way
to save time.
HelloFresh is a long-term partner of my YouTube channel and they are sponsoring today's video
and it just makes so much sense because with HelloFresh, you get your meals delivered to
your door.
So you don't have to spend the time planning, what am I going to make, thinking of new ideas,
writing down all the ingredients, going to the grocery store, finding all the ingredients,
coming home.
It saves me so much time just on the preparation side.
And then in the actual cooking portion of it, they now have the quick and easy meal
options.
So those are meals that can be completely made from start to finish in under 20 minutes.
So I tend to go for those now because I am short on time.
All of the ingredients come pre-portioned, ready to go so you don't have any excess waste.
Every time I cook a HelloFresh meal, I have an extra portion that I set aside for lunch
the next day.
So I'm cooking one time and I'm eating two or sometimes even three times.
And now they even have the option that you can add extra meals or extra side dishes to
your order.
Over the years, I've tried maybe five or six different meal kit services and HelloFresh,
in my opinion, is the very best in terms of the quality of the ingredients, the taste
of the food for the price.
Like the price of HelloFresh meals is extremely affordable and you could get it for even less
if you go to hellofresh.com and use my code, which is BVASOR12.
You can get 12 free meals, including free shipping.
So if you have not tried HelloFresh yet, you know I've talked about them so much.
Now is the time to try it because it is going to save you so much time throughout the week.
So use my link in the description box to try HelloFresh if you have not tried it yet.
Now is the time.
And for breakfast, a new little trick I've been doing to save time is I pre-make smoothie
bags.
So I'll get all of my dry ingredients and put them in bags ahead of time.
So that would be my protein powder, spinach, frozen fruit, green powder.
I have those pre-portioned set aside in the freezer.
So in the morning, all I have to do is grab my smoothie bag, dump it in the blender and
add my liquid of choice and a little ice, blend it up, and I have my breakfast smoothie
in under a minute.
Things I do to save time getting ready.
So I can get ready in probably six or seven minutes now because A, I have my DIY lash
extensions on.
That was always something that would take so much time, like doing my mascara, eye makeup,
all of that.
With these lash extensions on, it shaves minutes off my routine and those are valuable minutes.
So I have a video of exactly how I do these, but it's been a year now and I still swear
by them.
Another thing I do to save time getting ready is I use these ridiculous eyebrow stencils
because my brows, like they're really asymmetrical, so it would take me forever to like figure
out how to get them to be perfectly shaped.
With this stencil, I just slap it on, fill it in, and it's like a minute.
Another thing I just don't do anymore and it saves me quite a lot of time is I don't
blow dry my hair anymore.
I just let it air dry and then I will curl it.
I have like a nicer curling iron now, so the curls will really hold.
So it takes under 10 minutes to style my hair and it will last for usually four days.
And let's be real, it's better for my hair to not blow dry it.
On a day-to-day basis, you can save yourself time getting dressed and figuring out what
you're going to wear if you have a little uniform for yourself.
And I know that might sound bad and it's not like you're wearing the same thing every day,
but you're wearing a version of the same thing.
For me lately, you know, between being home, the pandemic, whatever it may be, it is almost
always black leggings and either this athletic top that I'm obsessed with if it's hot or
out or a sweatshirt.
In terms of being more efficient and saving time, like working and getting things done,
one of the things I do, maybe the biggest thing to really be efficient and saving time
is I work in time blocks.
This is something I have talked about before and there's a couple different ways you can
do it.
One is using one of these time blocking cubes.
So you sit down and you say, okay, I'm going to focus for 30 minutes.
You put your timer down and for those 30 minutes, you do not check your phone.
You do not check your email.
You don't do anything but the task at hand.
And then once the timer goes off, you reward yourself with like a five to 10 minute break.
You can walk around, get a snack, check your phone.
That is how I get anything done.
That's how I'm sitting here editing this video that you're watching.
So you can use the time cube.
I actually most often use an app on my phone called Flora.
So I'll set a little time block and it will block off everything on my phone for that
time period.
Also throughout the day, I notice that I get really pulled in and distracted by my phone
and notifications going off all day long.
So I will set my phone on silent.
You don't always have to be available every minute.
Wherever you can, and it's not urgent, if you can put your phone on silent or leave
it in the other room, it will help prevent you from getting constantly distracted.
If you've never thought about this, it could be a way to really, really save a lot of time
in a given week, depending on what you do.
And that is hiring a virtual assistant.
There are different websites out there where you can find someone for a really affordable
price.
You can do research projects for you or book appointments for you or do administrative
tasks for you that might sink a lot of time, but it's not something that you necessarily
have to be doing.
And this is a big one for me because I'm such a control freak.
I have done everything myself for years and I'm starting to learn now I need to let go
a little.
But the concept here is just think about ways, if possible, you can outsource, delegate,
move tasks over to other people who can help you.
In general, for saving time and being more efficient, it is better to be focused and
do one thing at a time.
However, if you are working on things that don't require a lot of mental energy, I'm
a huge proponent of multitasking.
So for example, when I'm showering, when I'm getting ready, when I'm driving, I am listening
to an audio book or a podcast.
I'm trying to use that time to improve myself, to learn things.
When I go on walks is when I will do all of my phone calls.
If I need to catch up with a friend or a family member, I'm multitasking.
Those are the real life, practical things I do to save myself time in any given day.
And they really do work.
That is how I'm able to get anything done.
And if you want to save yourself a lot of time and hassle from having to meal plan,
prep, go to the grocery store any given week, I highly, highly recommend HelloFresh.
It is one of my most favorite things of life and my code now works to get 12 free meals
and free shipping.
So my link for that is in the description box and my code again is EVASOR12.
So with all of that said, thank you as always so much for watching and I will see you soon
with a new video.
