Hey guys, hope you're doing well.
And today I want to talk about my most recent trip to Europe for 6 weeks.
And I spent about a total of 30 days in Italy.
And I majority shot on my Fujifilm X-T5.
Now, the other day I was thinking that Italy, out of all the places that I've traveled to for photography this year and in previous years, is the best destination for a photography trip.
You have coastal areas like the Amalfi Coast, Rome and Venice for street photography.
Milan and Lake Como is a fashion hub.
And the northern Italian border is just stunning for landscape images.
So in today's video, I want to go over a collection of photos and footage that I took during my time in Italy.
And I want to discuss my thought process, the places I visited, and just some additional locations that I would like to return to next year.
This video is a little bit different, so let's just jump right into it, starting with where the trip began, Rome.
I'd like to mention that all the photos in today's video are edited with my Pastel Film Lightroom preset pack.
And all the videos are graded with my cinema LUTs, which are all linked in the description down below.
So with that out of the way, my favorite images were shot in the actual town of Amalfi.
I recommend waking up early and catching the bus into town.
In the morning, you get this beautiful side light coming from the ocean.
And if you're shooting in the afternoon, it's super busy for one.
But you also lose the light quickly as this area is shaded in the afternoon from the huge mountain ranges behind.
After our stay in this region, we then made a 10-hour road trip to Tuscany for a wedding.
Maria, my partner, was shooting stills and I was on video.
But I also got the opportunity to shoot a couple rolls of film.
After the wedding, Maria actually had to head home, while I continued on a 10-day road trip along the northern border of Italy and into Switzerland.
I'm not going to show too many photos from this road trip, as I have made a separate video providing more details about this road trip.
And since I was traveling to Europe for weddings and brought all of my Sony gear,
However, the majority of these photos and videos are shot on the Fujifilm X-T5, along with the 18-55mm kit lens.
And this combination started to fail midway through my trip, and the camera just ultimately broke at the end of the trip.
Which is something that I did discuss in a previous video.
But today, I want to share a follow-up to this issue and discuss this later in the video.
So during this road trip, I encountered several issues or problems with my Fujifilm X-T5.
And I wanted to provide a quick update regarding that situation.
Now, I've concluded that this isn't actually a camera problem, it's more of a lens issue.
This little 18-55mm kit lens, over time, wears out.
And starts to create issues with the Fujifilm camera being used.
Now, since returning from Europe, I just haven't used this lens.
And I've instead used a collection of third-party and native Fujifilm lenses.
Without experiencing any further issues with my Fujifilm X-T5.
And I've had a lot of people commenting on that video with the same issue from this lens.
And Fujifilm being Fujifilm, haven't addressed the issue or provided a decent firmware update.
But they did replace this lens with a new kit lens, the 16-50mm.
So with my X-T5 having these intermittent issues, I headed to Venice.
And I only stayed one night in Venice due to time constraints.
But I truly wish I had allocated at least three nights in Venice.
As this was just an amazing place for photography.
Now, Venice has a really nice atmosphere.
And I did capture some of my favorite images and scenes from my time in Italy.
So that was the end of my 30 days photographing Italy.
And if you do like the way that I edit my photos, I do sell Lightroom presets.
Which are linked in the description down below.
If you want to watch my previous video of my road trip through Northern Italy.
