To really get to know a place, you need to understand the soul of the place.
And there's no better way than diving into its local food and culture and having conversations
with the people who belong to the place.
That's exactly what I'm up to next.
I was really craving to experience the local cuisine.
And who better to ask than the locals themselves.
So my friend and I just got into Singapore.
Could you recommend some places for us to go and eat?
You guys are looking for like fine dining or like local food?
Definitely local food.
You can go to the Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre.
They have a lot of variety foods there.
Okay, the Hawker Centre.
Okay, done.
Thank you.
Rajvi, this is such a pretty neighbourhood, na?
It's like the perfect mix between old and new.
I think it'll be great for my Instagram.
See?
Okay, so we're finally here.
Let me ask someone.
This is incredible.
The energy, the diversity, the essence of Hawker Centre.
It's like a feast for the senses.
And look at all these amazing dishes being cooked right before our eyes.
I've always believed that the heart of any culture lies in its food.
And here, right now, I feel like I'm connecting with the soul of Singapore.
Look at these storefronts.
Each with its own character and charm.
It's not just about the delicious dishes.
It's about the passion, the history, the stories each bite carries.
I want to savour every moment, every flavour, and let it become a part of me.
Hi, I'm Ananya.
I'm new here.
Can I ask you a question?
Yeah, sure.
Okay, so, thank you.
I'm very hungry.
So I was wondering if there are some vegetarian options that I can try out.
Or if you can recommend some special hawkers I should go to.
Yeah, so we have a lot of vegetarian options.
Like Nanya Cuisines.
Yeah, and Plant Based.
Oh, you have Plant Based here?
Okay, nice.
Okay.
Yeah, or otherwise, if you like non-vegetarian, we also have Chicken Rice.
Okay.
Which is what we are eating.
So I'm looking for something fresh and vegetarian.
And I'm surprised because I always thought Singapore only has a lot of non-vegetarian options.
But the fact that they have vegetarian as well is so interesting.
Yeah.
So we have everything.
It's a galore.
Amazing.
Veg and non-veg.
Nice.
Okay, I'm gonna go check it out.
Thank you.
Wow, I thought you weren't comfortable talking to strangers.
Actually, people think I'm very reserved and shy.
But I actually love talking to people, especially strangers,
because I feel like you get to learn so much from them.
Fun fact.
Can I get some Nonya Curry and some Tofu, please?
Rajvir, what did you order?
Obviously, Chicken and Rice.
How can I not try it?
I came for the food.
But I ended up discovering the heart of this place.
The culture, the people, and the stories that bind them all together.
It was more than I ever imagined.
The food here and the desserts were so yummy.
I ran out of time but not of options.
Their stories were also very cute, right?
Yes, and very inspiring as well.
I'm thinking of opening a small dhaba here.
Raj's Dhaba.
Why not?
You've made some good friends, huh?
As they say, love is friendship and food is my love.
So yeah, I made friends and food and lots of love.
Bye.
But what's the plan?
Where are we going?
Let me ask them.
Hi.
So my friend and I were actually looking to explore the nightlife here.
So what are some nice options?
So you can go to Marki, you can go to Zoo or Nighthawk.
Okay, so clubs are nice.
But actually we wanted to do something more adventurous.
So do you have some adventurous options?
So for nightlife, you can go to Chimes.
You would love the vibe there.
Okay.
Thank you.
Bye.
I'm beyond overwhelmed with the hospitality the city has in store.
Can't wait to experience how this night unfolds
and the wonderful memories I make today.
This location is amazing.
It's right in the heart of the city and you can feel the energy all around.
So welcome to Analogue.
Hi.
So this is really interesting.
It looks kind of like a wave.
Basically, we look at the future of the food system.
So things like over-farming, materials and accessibility.
So this bathtub is made out of recycled plastic bottle.
Wow.
This is so cool.
So it's 1,600 kgs of recycled plastic bottles
that's been 3D printed into 14 different pieces.
I wouldn't be able to tell by like touching this texture.
We take something that people might just throw away in the bin
but make it into something really beautiful and functional.
And I saw those cool tabletops as well.
So we look at different materials and those tables at the corner
are made from mycelium, which is a form of mushrooms.
Oh, amazing.
I would have never imagined.
It's so cool that people are being mindful of the environment
and finding unique ways to recycle the waste and use it so creatively.
And I've heard the menu is plant-based and vegan.
Yes.
So what would you recommend?
We're entirely plant-based
and we try to explore the plant kingdom
and make sure that the food is exciting and fresh.
I've got a couple of recommendations for you.
Okay.
So I've got our plant-based nuggets
with a homemade curry sauce from the chefs.
A bit of mushroom.
Oh, can I get the hot sauce also?
100%.
Okay.
We'll get it for you.
And we also have a jackfruit taco by using unripe jackfruits.
And a bit of char siu mantou, a twist on a local dish.
Yeah.
I'm hungry.
So let's go.
Oh, can I also get a non-alcoholic drink?
Certainly.
So over here at Analog, we have an extensive non-alcoholic menu
and none of it uses any sugars as well.
We use low GI sweetness.
So not only is it tasty, but it's good for you as well.
Oh, non-alcoholic.
I can try that too.
Can you order one for me as well?
Later, I'm going to check the pub scene anyway.
Amazing.
Thank you.
Here you go.
Can I mix the sauces?
Yeah, 100%.
What is this made of?
So this is a plum-based nugget made from wheat.
And I would say it's almost as good or better than the real thing.
Wow.
And then over here, we have a jackfruit taco.
So young jackfruit marinated in a bit of Indonesian style curry with micro coriander.
Just make sure to squeeze some lime over.
Yay, more food!
Oh, over here, we have a char siu mantou, which is a take on a local dish,
but we've just made it plum-based.
We have a little bit of eggplant fritters in a bun and a little bit of lettuce inside.
Oh my god, that's yum.
I'm really surprised how good the plum-based food tastes here.
I'm definitely going to try out a few more things.
Can I get you a beverage with your food?
Yes, please.
Like, what kind of flavours do you like in your drink?
Sweet with a little bit of freshness, maybe?
Cool, I'll make you something.
Thank you.
All right, I have some drinks for you over here.
Just gonna leave them out for you.
Okay.
Wow.
This looks fancy, man.
So our cocktail and non-alcoholic programs here are very special.
We use a lot of technology in our drinks.
So for example, this one is called the El Mariachi.
It's a clarified strawberry.
And we actually distill a Morita chili pepper with a water base.
And it's a carbonated drink.
Over here, we actually have...
It's more like a science class, I feel.
A little bit.
Thank you.
Cheers.
Enjoy.
Yum.
This place is amazing and definitely worth the visit.
I'm gonna come back again.
Let me eat now.
Go away.
I would have loved to explore more as well, you know?
Dive into the city's vibes.
But I had an early start today.
Rajveer toh gaya to enjoy the nightlife.
And guess who made the itinerary?
Do you know what I planned for him?
I have picked some seriously rad spots.
Like the Nighthawk.
Level 33.
And Zook.
These places are next level cool and perfect for chilling.
Clubbing, partying, meeting amazing people.
It's the perfect way to end the night.
And let me tell you, the nightlife vibes are something else.
These places know how to set the mood right.
If you love partying, it's just the place for you.
The energy, the music, the crowd.
Everything comes together for an unforgettable experience.
Sipping on fantastic cocktails or enjoying your favourite beverage
while surrounded by the lively atmosphere enhances the entire experience.
Trust me, these spots offer the perfect combination of great food,
fantastic drinks and a vibe that's just too good to miss.
From bustling hawker markets to the serene ambience of chimes,
we found more than just places.
We found a community of diverse experiences woven together.
But what made it even more amazing were the wonderful people we met along the way.
Their warmth and stories added an extra layer of magic to our adventure.
Thank you Singapore for welcoming us with open arms and unforgettable memories.
Until next time, happy exploring.
