Hey, my name is Nicole Fiore and I roller skate.
You know the old school roller skates,
two in front, two in back?
Yeah, those ones.
I'm gonna be teaching you how to roll
and entertaining you along the way.
Come roll with us.
Welcome back, guys.
Today we are going to learn how to take our two foot spin
from last week,
this guy,
to this guy.
But first, we are going to start with kind of a scissor.
You may want to reduce scissors
if you haven't learned that yet.
It's the down, up.
You can get a lot of speed from them.
Try to fit two in here.
Down, up.
But today to learn the spin,
and by the way, who doesn't want to learn how to spin?
It's the coolest trick in the game, I think.
I'm not a jumper, so spinning is pretty much what I got.
But you can learn how to do this, to this,
to then a two foot spin with a heel and toe,
which looks a lot faster and smoother.
Today we will go over how to roll your two foot spin.
We will be starting in a T position
with your left hand in front, your right hand to your side,
and doing a half circle with just your right foot.
Then when you're doing it, move it around like that,
like a parenthesis, kind of.
And you can go back, just like this.
By the way, I will be spinning in normal skating direction.
If you want to spin opposite, you will just reverse this.
Then you will take the back foot,
in my case, my left foot,
make that do a half circle back to the right foot.
So if you do that in a circle,
that's a good way of pretty much doing
what we did last week, the mohawk turns.
But now rolling it.
Once you practice this quite a few times, honestly,
you want to get your core tight and your upper back tight.
BBC, boobs, butt, chin, all in place, nothing droopy.
Get your arms out, however you want to do it, honestly.
I would start with them out.
I start with them out, my left hand in front,
my right hand out to the side,
and start to just do this a few times.
This could be cold, actually, I don't know.
Really.
Okay, then you want to move your right leg
and your left leg at the same time.
Start like this, both of them parallel,
shoulder width apart.
I, again, start with my left hand out in front,
my right hand to the side.
Then you bend both and kind of do a scissor,
kind of do what we just did.
Combine both methods.
So you're kind of doing a scissor,
you're kind of doing that half pivot thing.
Combine that, bend both, then move them in those directions
and try to make it back to the front.
If you can only make it halfway, do that.
Down, up, down, up.
So you're basically just doing this.
You're just doing like little squats
with your feet parallel.
And damn, that's a workout in itself.
Shoot.
So, do that with me.
A half circle, a half circle.
Then, when you're ready to do one full circle,
what I want you to do is pull your hands in and cross them.
Since my left hand's in front,
my right hand's out to the side.
I cross my left over my right,
so my left is on top, my right is touching my chest.
Then I check when I'm done with the spin.
Remember to check.
You can't just spin and let your body keep going
because you are getting momentum
and you don't want to keep going.
You want to stop eventually.
And you don't want to stop by falling down, probably.
So, you want to be able to check.
Whether you check back in this position
or if you're out like this,
you can do this and stop as well,
but it's like a safe.
You need to stop your momentum.
Okay, so, all you have to do is do that.
It's just down, up, down, up.
Booty goes to the floor.
Chest stays up.
Core stays tight.
Upper back muscles stay tight.
That's all it is.
And then it's just that rotation.
The right leg goes forward, down, up, down, up.
Now, when I say down, up,
please do not come to a straight leg, ever.
Down, up is like down and then up,
as in my straight skating leg,
which is still slightly bent always.
So, you may see a lot of people do heel toe.
We'll get into that next week a little bit,
but this spin is just to get your momentum,
getting you ready,
taking you from this to an actual spin.
You'll feel as you do it
that your skates start to come closer together.
That's okay.
You want them closer together.
You don't wanna be spinning like this.
Make sure you guys are stretching before you're skating
because a lot of us,
especially people who have skated for a long time,
we just jump into our skates
and just start doing whatever we do.
We don't think like, oh, yeah, this might hurt us,
especially as we're getting older.
You need to make yourself limber
and you need to stretch and make sure your body is ready
and stretch after you skate because that's important too.
Also, as you get into skating this summer,
please, please, please make sure you are drinking water
and hydrating and make sure you are eating
before, after you skate.
Make sure you're well nourished
because it is hot out there.
Just PSA, hydrate, please, and keep skating.
See you next week.
Well, wasn't that educational?
Go ahead and like this video
and subscribe to my channel while you're at it.
You know, if you wanna learn how to be cool
and not fall down so much.
Let's see how many times I can go around doing this.
Also, make sure if you get dizzy, you take a moment.
Okay.
