Rebeka Masarova vs. Peyton Stearns | 2025 Madrid Round 3 | WTA Match Highlights

It's good work again from Peyton Stearns. Tennis player is Blaz. Oh, wasn't the most conviction drop shot, was it, from Masarova? World number one. Oh, but could Pliskova hit that shot? I'm not so sure. Masarova moving a little too early. Oh, I can't quite believe it. Masarova left it. And Peyton Stearns takes the first set. Six games to two. Well worth the effort of running that one down. Got a good kick on her. Ball really moves after it bounces. She's done it again. That's not coming back. Oh, lovely volley. Using those long arms. Oh, what a defensive lob from Peyton Stearns. Alongside Bryce Nakashima. Oh, that's a tough ball to pick up from Masarova. She's thrown in the seventh volley. Masarova will know she's a little lucky to get that point. And it just hasn't worked, the seventh volley. But not because Masarova isn't trying and not doing the right thing. She is. Picked up her first win in Madrid against Kim Birol. Three sets, then took out Amanda Anissimova. Well, that's nice from Masarova, going back behind regularly enough. A rare time the drop shot has worked today. Peyton Stearns into the round of 16 here in Madrid for the very first time. Came through two, three set battles to get here, Stearns. But lost just two games today. What a performance from the world number 44. A mixed 2025 season so far. But this is certainly the highlight. And she will have a go now at the world number one Arena Sabalenka.
