PIXBOOM Spark High Speed camera– 4K 1000fps, & 2K 1800fps
New shooter coverage of NAB 2025 is sponsored by B&H Build Expo, June 17th and 18th at the
Javits Center, New York, and Atlas Lens Co.
Hi, it's Matt here for newshooter.com and NAB 2025, I'm with Hong Hao from PixBoom.
Now, this is a brand new company and you've got a new high-speed camera called Spark.
Just tell me about it.
It has a BSI S35 sensor that can support up to 1,800 FPS for 2K resolution and 1,000 FPS for 4K resolution.
It's a BSI camera, so it has more brighter than regular sensors.
So you have a back-stacked, eliminated, super 35 sensor.
Yeah, super 35.
We also have the unplugable SSD for the continuous recording.
That means when your storage gets full, you just plug it out and plug in a new one and do continuous recording.
It's up to like tens of minutes, instead of just a loop mode for several seconds.
Yeah, we can do continuous recording.
So is it a proprietary SSD or you can use any off-the-shelf SSD for this?
It's just an exclusive SSD.
It just looks like this.
Then you can buy it from our website and it will come with the camera.
What sort of capacities will the SSD come in?
It's like 2.4 terabytes.
2.4 terabytes.
Terabytes, yeah.
In terms of how do you operate the camera?
Onboard controls or is there an app?
Yeah, we have antennas for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
We can do remote control via mobile apps.
We also have an external port here.
We can control our serial port to do remote control.
And we also have pogo pins here.
You can connect to a grip or a handle here to do active control directly via this mod.
And that's it.
That's it for the remote controlling.
In terms of outputs on here, what have you got video-wise?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We have Kailh GSDI HDMI 2.0 for 4K monitoring, which is very sharp and clear.
We also have the sync port to synchronize with other devices,
which is important for high-speed recording units.
So what are the powering options for the camera?
Yeah, power options.
We have a built-in V-mount that you can use any kind of V-mount batteries.
And we also have a DC supplier, which supports like 12 volts to 24 volts to connect continuously to the supply.
And in terms of dynamic range, do you know how much dynamic range this camera has?
Actually, the dynamic range we haven't like fully decided yet
because this sensor is very like still optimizing with our manufacturer.
So maybe it's too early to talk about this for now.
We also have the options for like active locked V-mount and also PL-mount.
Now in terms of, I guess the most important thing is pricing and availability.
Do you have a ballpark figure about how much the camera is going to cost yet?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's a very important and interesting question.
Since we are the first time to NMB now, we haven't decided the precise price now
because we also want to learn about, like hear some suggestions or opinions from our customers to hear their voice
before we finally define the price.
So any sort of indication? $5,000, $8,000, $10,000?
Maybe like let's just keep it secret right now, but must be a surprising price.
Much more affordable compared to those very high-end, very expensive scientific use high-speed cameras.
So when do you expect this to start shipping?
Oh, it's like several months later we will have an official launch in Kickstarter
and like after that we will start shipping.
