I find it hilarious that Chelsea had 2 managers that could be top 10 greatest ever with Mourinho and Ancelotti. They also had a magnificent season with Conte yet they reached the final with Grant and won with di Mateo
Frank, was that beyond cruel?
Yeah, it was.
This is Champions League.
Man United done it, I don't know, ten years ago,
whatever it was, one in the last minute.
I think we dominated the game.
I think credit to Man United.
They took control of the first half an hour of the game.
Maybe could have gone more than one-nil up,
but once we woke up today and got playing after about half an hour,
I don't know how many shots we had.
We hit the bar, we hit the post.
We looked a stronger team for sure.
And then we were in the driving seating penalties
and John slips on taking the last one.
It's very cruel, but you know that's football.
What's John said to you?
Is he inconsolable?
Well, you see him out there because John is Mr. Chelsea.
He's Chelsea through and through.
He's the club captain.
He wants this more than anyone, as much as anyone at this club.
And I just want to say that not many centre-halves
will stand up and take penalties,
the fifth penalty of this importance.
And that's testament to his character as a man.
No one at Chelsea will criticise him for that.
No one at all.
At the end of the day, it's a game of football.
John is a man's man and he's done what he's done.
And we'll be back.
Manchester United had the best of the first half,
if not most of it, until you scored.
What did the manager say at half-time
or what was said at half-time and by who?
Well, the manager spoke and everyone spoke.
We were frustrated with ourselves because we got this far
and then we played sloppy for the first half hour.
But we knew that once you started to pass through midfield,
we could dominate the game.
And once we'd done that last ten minutes of the first half
and in the second half, I just felt very comfortable.
I felt if anyone was going to score, it would be us.
An extra time again.
As I say, we hit the woodwork twice.
And that was really the message at half-time.
Get on the ball and pass it and keep it and don't lose it.
And once we'd done that, we created a good few chances.
You've been through an awful lot.
Do you feel emotionally drained?
Yeah, I do. I do.
I feel very emotionally drained.
It's been very tough.
I've been sort of hanging on in the last couple of weeks,
trying to prepare myself for what is the biggest game of my life.
But it's almost become not that important with recent things.
Personally, I'm just disappointed for my team-mates.
My team-mates have been fantastic to me through these times.
Everyone saw what they'd done in the Man Utd league game.
They've been frightening, the support they've had.
I'm very fortunate to have them.
And I wanted to be a part of them winning the Champions League
and part of our fans winning the Champions League.
But not today.
Frank, thank you for talking to us.
Cheers, yeah.
