The Boy Who Cried Wolf
Once upon a time, in a quiet little village surrounded by green hills and fluffy clouds,
there lived a young shepherd boy named Liam. Every morning, Liam would lead his sheep up the hill
to graze on the soft, sweet grass. Liam liked the view from the hill, but after a while watching
sheep eat grass got a little... boring. I wish something exciting would happen,
he mumbled kicking a pebble. Then, Liam had an idea. He ran down the hill waving his arms and
shouting, Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is chasing the sheep! The villagers dropped everything and
rushed up the hill with sticks and tools, ready to protect the flock. But when they got there,
the sheep were calm, nibbling away peacefully. And there was no wolf in sight. Liam giggled.
Just kidding, he laughed. There was no wolf. I was only playing, the villagers frowned.
That's not something to joke about, one said. We were worried, Liam shrugged, not really
understanding. The next day Liam was back on the hill, and again he got bored. So he did the same
thing. He shouted, Wolf! Wolf! Help! Help! Once again the villagers came running, and once again
there was no wolf. They were not amused. You can't keep doing this, Liam, they warned. One day,
we won't believe you. Liam promised he'd stop, but deep down he still thought it was kind of funny.
Then one evening, as the sun dipped behind the hills and painted the sky orange and pink,
a real wolf appeared. Its eyes were sharp and its teeth looked scary. Liam's heart raced. Wolf! Wolf!
Help! he screamed. But this time no one came. The villagers thought he was joking again.
The wolf chased the sheep, and poor Liam didn't know what to do. He sat down and cried.
When he returned to the village that night, he was sad and quiet. I'm so sorry, he said.
I should have told the truth. I've learned my lesson. The villagers forgave him,
and from that day on, Liam never told a lie again. The end.
