Game one of a double header in the Bronx
between the Blue Jays and the Yankees.
Kevin Gosman on the mound. Got through
the first two innings rather easily.
He's got a one- nothing lead to work
with. This breakdown is brought to you
by SeatGeek. He's looking for quick
outs. Keep the lead. Keep it going. It's
a double header day. One pitch center
cut for seam fast. 91 miles per hour in
the air in the leather. One pitch, one
out. Like I said, double header. So, the
starter needs to go deep in the games.
He needs to keep his pitch count low. He
needs to just fill the zone and get
outs. What a good start thus far. Then
next pitch, fast ball, strike, ball,
strike, ball. So, that's okay. So,
that's one that's upsetting him. He says
that's at the knees. That's a strike.
Wasn't called. Foul ball. Foul ball.
Next batter is up because that was a
walk. And we've got He wants that one. I
think he doesn't get it. He says that's
a
strike. Give me a new ball. That's
a strike. That's a strike. Come
on. You stare at me, I'll stare at you.
Huh? You stare at me, I'll stare at you.
A little tear from the manager. He knows
what's coming. Ball strike. One andone
pitch hammered by Judge. There's two
runners on. Is that a homer? No. Off the
Bank of America sign. And everyone's
going to hold up. Bases are now loaded.
Still only one out. Gossman says, "Okay,
well, I didn't walk those guys cuz those
are strikes." What the hell? Another
one. He wants a strike there.
Bellinger's going to see the balls. He's
going to foul them off. He's going to
put one in play. That's the second out,
but it's also a tie game. And again, a
lot of pitches thrown in that at bat.
Now Goldie's up. Ball, ball, strike,
ball, strike, ball. Another walk.
He's mad now, but none of those were
close. None of those were missed, but we
do have some missed before. Jazz is up 2
0 3 0. Oh no, he wants that one, too.
Chris. Umpire's name is Chris,
and he thinks that pitch call was
The merrygoround is in motion.
Another run scores. Yankees have the
lead. Bases are still loaded. Manager
thinking about it. Spits. Pitching coach
thinking about it. Getting antsy.
Getting antsy. Getting antsy. Getting
antsy. Getting antsy. Yeah, should
probably get someone up in the bullpen.
Damn it, double header day. Need gossip
in the pitch, but we'll get someone up.
Okay, now Vulpi's up. Strike one. That's
good. One out away from getting out of
it. Ball. Ball. Ball. Fouled off. 3-2.
Fouled off. Ball four. Pin wheels. Walks
in. Another run. Three to one. Bases
remain loaded. Two outs. And now Austin
Wells is up. He gets a strike called him
that Wells is like, "Really?
Really?" Okay. I don't know about that.
0 and2 to him. Fouls some off. Doesn't
swing at those. Fouls some off. Fast
ball on the middle. Hammers it. Is that
a grand slam? Is it? Is it? Is it? Could
it? No, it's off the wall. Everyone
scores 53 pitches in the inning now.
Schneider is thinking, "Oh my goodness,
this isn't good." Yeah, not good. I'm
going to have to do something. I'm going
to have to pull my pitcher. I can't have
him throwing this many pitches. Can't
have him giving him fast balls with no
movement. Just right to the torpedo
barrel. So Gossman is out of the game
and he's mad because he thinks some of
those should have been strikeouts and
not walk. His pitch count should not
have gone crazy. Looks at the umpire and
he's going to say it's dog
And then the umpire ejects him from the
game and he says I'm walking off
terrible. They're
strikes
They're strikes And then I
could not figure out what he says when
he gets into the dugout. umpire looks
still barking and he's saying something
like uh you know I can't wait till you
take a look inside something like that
you know oh you're gonna see when you
get inside and then he falls down the
steps right here yeah just straight down
the steps falls I couldn't figure this
one out but there's a lot of lip reading
to come something something inside falls
down the steps we go to the next inning
and Max Freed pitcher for the Yankees
he's going to get a call under the zone
right there on the breaking All
Schneider's not happy. Spits
turn your head the other way. Spits,
barks, yells, don't look at me, man. You
know, I'm going to yell at you. Don't
look at me. He's like, well, it's
natural reaction for me to turn when I'm
getting yelled at. And then we continue
to the next inning. Vlatt's up and
that's a strike. And Vlatty turns and
looks and he's like, what are we doing?
Oh, no. Didn't agree with that one. As
he steps back in the box, get out of
here. He's ejected. And Schneider says,
good, great, grand, wonderful. I don't
want to watch your anymore.
You've been terrible.
send our pitcher out of
the game. And he's over here.
You're calling all these three
already against us. Yeah, he's playing
up way up here. Yanked that out.
had to pull Gossman right out of
the game. My fault. Yeah, it's
your fault. Okay. Your
fault. I'm sure you got one job
and you're it up. I'm glad I
don't get to watch your
anymore. Okay, great. Yep. You've been
terrible today.
terrible. Okay. All right. Right. You
cost us the game and you're good with
it. I got four guys that can
throw today. Great. Let's go. I
got you. So, yeah. Double header
situation. Doesn't have a lot of guys
available.
He was upset about the calls and there
was some lopsidedness to the lower part
of the zone. And now this guy, the
associate manager, he's like, "Hey, hey,
get out of the way. Get out the way. I'm
the manager now." That's right, baby.
It's me. The game continues. Max Freed
versus Vlatty continues. Another low
strike called. Vlatty doesn't like that.
He says, "Time, time. Is this because of
everything my manager just said taking
out on me now personally? Cuz that was
lower than all the other ones. I didn't
like that. One, two. Max Freed's like,
let's exploit the lower part of the
zone. Maybe low and away. Got that one
earlier. Fast ball. Low and away. I
think that does get the plate. Strike
three. Vlatty doesn't like it. Oh,
what's going
on? Not happy at all. Not happy at all.
Associate manager is like, "Oh,
Maybe I don't want the top step." If
