Hello, I'm Lari from Deutsch mit Lari and today I brought Anna with me again.
Anna and I are going to have a conversation in German again.
We are going to talk to each other and you listen carefully.
Because at the end of the video I have prepared five questions for you,
so that you can check your listening in German.
You can answer the five questions in the comments.
And I will look at your answers again.
Well, are you ready? We are ready.
Well then, let's go.
Hello Anna, you look tired.
What did you do on the weekend?
I was in Wimbledon.
Wimbledon? What is that?
Oh, Wimbledon is the tennis tournament in England.
And it takes place in the town of Wimbledon.
Oh, that sounds great.
But why are you tired?
What did you do there?
Well, I went to Wimbledon right after work on Friday
and stood in line until the next day in line
to get tickets for Saturday.
Wow, how cool.
How does that work with the line?
Well, you arrive the day before and get a number.
So the first person who gets to the line gets the number one.
And that's exactly how the sequence continues.
So I got my number and then you camp overnight on this big field
with hundreds of other people who all have the same goal,
which is to get really, really good tickets.
And the next day you can watch the tennis games.
Really? Isn't camping totally uncomfortable?
Yes, it can be uncomfortable.
On Friday, for example, it rained all day,
all day and all night.
Luckily I had rubber boots with me,
but it wasn't really comfortable that night.
I may have slept two or three hours
because it was really cold in the tent.
But it's the only way to get good seats in the short term.
Okay, and what does the sequence look like the next day?
So in the morning around 5.30 or 6 o'clock
the stewards woke us up with drill pipes and cowbells.
That was the signal for all the people there on this field
that we have to wake up and pack our tents.
Fortunately, there are also drill paths there,
which open early,
where you can get yourself a hot coffee and something for breakfast.
And then there is also this luggage rack,
where you can put your tents and your backpack with all the luggage.
And then it actually goes pretty fast,
because around 8.30 or 9 o'clock you get your armband.
And these armbands secure your place for the three big tennis courts,
Centre Court, Court 1 and Court 2.
I think there are 500 armbands,
i.e. tickets for Centre Court,
500 armbands or tickets for Court 1
and 500 for Court 2.
And luckily I was among the first 500
and got a ticket for Centre Court.
Around 9.30 o'clock you go to the security check first
and then to the ticket counter.
And there you pay for your ticket
and get the valid ticket, the valid ticket.
That sounds well organized.
When can you enter the tennis courts?
Usually at 10.30 o'clock.
The games on the outside courts start at 11 o'clock
and on the three big courts at 13 o'clock.
Was there a game that you were particularly looking forward to?
Yes, I saw the German tennis player Alexander Zverev play live.
I was really looking forward to that.
Wow! And who did he play against?
Zverev played against the Englishman Cameron Norrie.
That was an exciting duel.
Germany against England in England.
The atmosphere was great.
Ah, is Alexander Zverev the tennis player
who is together with this German actress?
Yes, exactly, with Sofia Tomala.
Sofia Tomala, for example,
played in the German-Austrian TV series The Mountain Doctor.
Oh, I love this series.
Were you there alone?
No, I wasn't there alone.
I met my friends and colleagues there.
And if I may ask, how much does a ticket cost?
Well, the price depends on the day of the tournament.
The closer you get to the final game, the more expensive the tickets get.
On this Saturday, a center court ticket cost 140 pounds,
a first court ticket 130 pounds
and I think a ticket for court 2 cost 80 pounds.
Wow, that's pretty expensive.
That's right.
And I was very lucky
because I got the tickets from my friends as a farewell gift
because we play tennis regularly.
And with the tickets,
my friends surprised me with these cute earrings.
How beautiful!
These are little tennis balls.
But Anna, why a farewell gift?
Farewell?
Well, I've been living in London for the last few months
and I'm going to move now.
So Wimbledon was a unique and very special experience for me and my friends.
Oh, but that actually sounds like a farewell
that you will always remember.
Did you also take photos or videos?
Oh yes, I will definitely do that.
Yes, of course, I can bring them to you next time.
Yes, I'd love to.
See you.
Bye.
