Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea,
and one of the 20 regions of Italy. It is located west of the Italian Peninsula,
north of Tunisia, and immediately south of the French island of Corsica.
Sardinia is an island of ancient traditions, still dominated by wild and uncontaminated nature.
Located in the heart of the Mediterranean, Sardinia is predominantly mountainous,
but without high peaks, offering visitors a unique natural environment.
It's a paradise for people who love the sea and beautiful beaches,
as well as for water sports, trekking and climbing.
Cagliari is the most important city of Sardinia, with a metropolitan area of
about half a million inhabitants. The capital of the island has a soul consisting of history,
culture, beach tourism, and nightlife. It's an attractive mix that fascinates the visitors,
charmed by the views of Castello, the ramparts and the Roman remains,
the Sardinian Sea, as well as by the dynamism of a surprisingly lively city.
The River Temo flows through the center of the colorful village of Boza,
with the medieval Saravaje Castle, also known as the Malaspina Castle, a number of churches,
a few museums and even ancient tanneries, there's plenty to do and see in this village.
Plus, Boza overlooks the sea, and there are several sandy beaches nearby too.
Stintino is home to one of Sardinia's most popular beaches, La Palosa. It's a stunning
strip of white sand and calm turquoise waters with views of the Torre Palosa in the distance.
But the town and port of Stintino are just as beautiful.
And, Stintino is also known for having some of the most delectable seafood on the island.
Fan favorites are the sea urchin, octopus, and clams.
Castelsardo is a picturesque town located just a short distance from Badesi on the northern
coast of Sardinia. This historic town is best known for its ancient castle, but there are also
beautiful sandy beaches which make this a somewhat strategic stopover between West Sardinia and the
islands in the east. The castle that gives the name to the village is still in perfect condition
after almost a thousand years and overlooks the whole city, the gulf and the harbor.
When you hike up to the castle, you will get a great view, and you can even spot Corsica on a
clear day.
Alghero is a beautiful city on Sardinia, but its historical center feels like its own tiny,
quaint village. With a massively long stretch of city beach, it will be a toss-up to decide
whether to have a day of sand and sun or roam the old city's stone walls. As afternoon fades
into evening, one of the popular things to do is climb the walls built by the Spanish to protect
against attack by sea and join locals for an evening promenade along their wide bastions
to watch the sunset over the Mediterranean.
