I got an invitation to the mountains, and couldn't say no :). Come along with me on Travelbases' Dolomiti Trail - a 100 km hike through some of the most beautiful and spectacular parts of the Italian Dolomites. The trail is self-sufficient, so Travelbase arranged everything for me, but I hiked alone (just the way I like it :) ).
// h i k i n g g u i d e s I make guides on every trail I do! For this one, I won't be making one since it's arranged by Travelbase, but you can find the others here: https://floordenil.com/en/product-cat...

Say hello to the Dolomites. This mountain range is located in the north of Italy and is infamous
around the world for its dramatic scenery with steep peaks and deep valleys. I've had this
destination on my radar for years now and when Travelbase invited me to try out their Dolomiti
trail, I could not say no. It's a six-day hut-to-hut hiking trip that takes you along some
of the most spectacular parts in the Dolomites. Join me on my first day on a short loop hike
towards Lago Sorapis. Yeehaw! Ladies and gentlemen, I'm here. This is where I am.
I've seen the Dolomites on pictures multiple times because somehow my Instagram algorithm
knows that I like these mountains, but standing here still hits different. Today is a loop hike.
I'll be hiking to a lake and I haven't spoiled myself yet with images of the lake, so I have
no idea what it's gonna look like, but apparently the views are spectacular. Apparently the climbs
are also spectacular. Welcome to the Dolomites. Let's go.
Oh my god, my face! I feel like I'm in a huge sauna. I look like I'm in a huge sauna because
the smells are all pine forestry and it's super warm. Just a big open sauna in nature today. Wow.
And after some climbing, I made it to the lake. Believe me, the color is as blue in real life as
you're seeing on screen now. It's so bright because of a special reflection of light
in combination with algae and plankton. I chilled here for about an hour and a half
and then I headed back down.
Sometimes meeting people on a trail is so much fun. Wow. They're gonna teach me how to do
when I'm done with this trip. I've been wanting to learn that for years now.
Well, let's get down the mountain.
Last night I gave in to what looked like the beginning of a story line.
Lifting mood of mind, where seats are filled all show us all out.
But the size of a room filled with ease and a colored light couldn't change her mind and that's
all right. I can hide in another life. As you can see, day two started peacefully. A steep climb took
me all the way up to the infamous and breathtaking Trecimi, but soon after I passed them, the weather
started to change.
So this is a trail now. Nice.
Yeah, here I am again. That was a pretty bad thunderstorm, pretty close by, but there's lots
of people on this trail, so I don't feel so scared. However, I would like the thunderstorm to leave,
but it looks like it's leaving, so that would be nice. Let's go.
Oh my god. Right now we've got two views for the price of one. This is view one and when we turn
the other way, we've got this one. Dolomites, what are you doing?
Season
Just had our chocolate. Time to go to sleep now.
Sleep time. See you tomorrow on another day of hiking. Bye bye.
Day three. First of all, there are blue patches in the sky.
Today has a tight schedule because there are buses to be taken. I've never hiked
against the clock before. It'll be interesting to see how fast I hike because actually I have no clue.
First part of the day is just descending, so let's descend. Boom, biddy boom, bidim bidim.
And we're climbing again. That means good views are coming. This is actually the first time I hear
several birds on the trail. I've been thinking, where are the birds? Apparently they're all
collected here. Lots of finches. Oh my god, I thought I had a big bug on my arm, but it's my shirt.
Let's climb to those good views.
Let me see what it's like to dance with me
Take off your feet
Can I come along into the back of your mind
Let me see what it's like to dance with me and all our lives into the night
My lord, this descent is never ending. I thought I already did something and then I looked at the map.
Push on, push on
You didn't expect to see me like this, did you? Oh, me neither. So normally we would be sleeping
in Erifujo right now, but a couple of weeks ago something went wrong with the booking and
Travelbase really just said, say no more. I'll handle this and now I'm sleeping in the most
luxurious hotel room I've ever been to. I could give you a tour, but one, I'm tired and two, this
is a video about nature. Tomorrow we're sleeping in a tent, then I'll be back to my regular habitat.
I'll see you tomorrow in the mountains. Good night
Good morning! I'm feeling so ready for today. The weather is good, my body is feeling good,
my headspace is good, everything is good. Climbing and talking gets me out of breath, man. Let's go
That would be it, not falling on the trail but falling from the bench
If I would live here, I'd be on this swing every morning, every evening, every day.
Look at this view! This is the view from the swing, insane.
And it's time for a swim. Epic, epic, epic, epic. And with those views, benissimo
and sleeping in a tent, so I fully went for the descent and ran down the mountain. Campsite,
here I come! Made it to the campsite. I hope this is the tent I need to be in because I think it is,
but I haven't seen anybody, but I think it is. These tents are so spacious. I could do yoga in
here. Look, I'm not even touching the back now. Now I'm touching the back, it's insane.
Then I'll already say sleep tight. See you tomorrow, bye bye. Listen to birds
I'll wake people up so I'm not gonna speak much but it's 5 30 and
let's go
again
As I started hiking so early on this day, the trail was basically empty and this warmed my heart
a lot. The birds could sing freely and other than that, the trail was as quiet as it could be.
I did forget how cold it could be in the mountains so early throughout the day though,
but luckily the sun came out after a couple of hours.
My god, the trail is beautiful today. It's so lovely to get up early
and explore the trail while it's less busy. It really adds another layer of beauty.
Look at the scenery.
Final pass of the day. I'm almost at Refugio. It's 11 30. I will have a very very chill day.
I am incredibly curious about Refugio because people have told me that it's situated on an
incredible place, but I haven't gotten any spoilers yet. Discover the Refugio
now together with me. I'll be there in about 20 minutes.
There it is, this is it.
Good morning. It's a good one. I'm at Refugio Nuvalau.
Bugs, bugs, bugs, bugs, bugs. They're very interested in the camera always.
Today is a very short hiking day. It's just getting down this mountain and getting into
town and that's it. Not too happy about it, but for the time being I'll enjoy breakfast
here and the sun here. Let's go.
While hiking on this trail for the past couple of days, I met up each night with the same
eight other hikers that were doing the Dolomiti trail. We had a lot of banter and I grew very
fond of them throughout the trail. So as this was the last day, I decided to hike together
with everybody. Meet our travel base hiking group.
And we're here. This is Cortina. We're here. It's ice cream time.
Dolomites, I'll be back. Let's get that ice cream. Bye.
