I do not believe there is a hell.
I believe everybody goes to about the same place.
But those that are not kind and good individuals
need to understand what they've done.
And until they understand that,
and until they forgive themselves.
Hello, I'm Becky Austell-Clawson,
and I am so thrilled to be here to talk with you all.
And thank you, Mia, so very much for having me share
my information about near-death experiences
and spiritual transformative experiences
and sheer death experiences.
I'm an occupational therapist.
And in, gosh, in 1995, my brother passed
and I discovered the ability to communicate with him
even though I had no psychic
or spiritual awareness at the time.
And it took me over 20 years to find the courage
to share this story.
And I'm delighted to be talking with you.
I am not religious.
I am spiritual though.
And so I don't necessarily go to church,
but I do have a awareness of the continuity of life.
I have an awareness of a heavenly being.
And I very much enjoy teaching people
that we can all communicate with our loved ones
that have passed on.
And that's how I started to get involved
with the International Association for Near-Death Studies
is because they very much support the fact
that life lives forever, that we all live forever.
People have asked me if I'm an atheist or an agnostic,
and I definitely was as a child.
When I was in my teens,
I decided that there really was a God,
there was a heavenly being,
except I had not met this heavenly being
and I wasn't really sure what I thought about that,
except that I did believe it was real for many people.
When I first learned how to communicate with my brother
who was 37 years old and passed,
I looked for a teacher, found a shaman,
and the very first journey that I had with this teacher,
I met God.
And since that time, and that was in 1996,
I have had a very clear understanding
that we do have a divine leader,
for lack of a better word,
that can assist us throughout our life here on earth
and for all time.
I did not have a near-death experience,
but what I had was what's called
a spiritual transformative experience.
And Dr. Bruce Grayson,
who's one of the most preeminent researchers
on near-death experiences,
has found a very clear correlation
between the aftereffects of those
that have had a near-death experience
and those that have had
a spiritual transformative experience.
And so what happened with me
was my 37-year-old brother, David, passed,
and he passed in 1995,
and he died of AIDS.
And for those of you that may be a little bit older,
you may remember in the 1990s
that thousands and thousands and thousands of people
passed of AIDS,
and AIDS was very common in the gay community.
And my brother, David, had come out that he was gay
when he was in his early 20s,
and it was very well accepted by my family,
which I very much appreciated.
So David passed of AIDS.
In the time that he passed,
he was considered a long-term survivor,
and I couldn't understand why he died.
It made no sense to me whatsoever.
I think everything in life is positive,
and I could find nothing positive
about the fact that my 37-year-old brother passed.
He was four years younger than I.
So I was in my early 40s.
About six weeks after he passed, I'm filled with grief.
I couldn't understand why he died.
Yet I was riding my horse through a Christmas tree farm,
and that day I got the best present of my life.
It was a beautiful day.
I live in Pennsylvania,
so this was in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
And we had just had our first frost.
It was middle of November.
And so icicles were hanging from the trees,
and rainbows were sparkling, and it was a beautiful day.
And I opened up my heart that had been closed
because of the grief.
I was just ignored.
I just couldn't believe that my brother had passed.
But that day I opened up my heart just a little bit,
and I said, thank you, universe, for a beautiful day.
And I closed my eyes, and there was my brother.
And he was in human form.
He was wearing a black and red plaid flannel shirt,
dungarees, and sandals.
I had never, ever, ever seen, heard,
or done anything like this.
I wasn't psychic.
I wasn't spiritual.
I couldn't believe that I was communicating with my brother.
Yet after about one to two seconds,
I realized that I didn't need to talk with him
because I was talking with him.
I could just send thought.
And he was great, and I was great,
and I looked to the right, and there were my grandparents,
Abe and Bessie Dole, that had passed about 10 years ago,
holding hands like they always did.
Beside them was Edward, a childhood family friend,
one of my brother's best friends.
He had passed about six months ago.
Beside Edward was a friend of mine, Holly,
who had passed in a car accident about 20 years ago.
And then I looked behind them,
and there was about 20 other people.
And I was looking at these people,
and I realized most of them, if not all of them,
were people that I had played the organ for
at their funeral.
And I thought, oh my gosh.
The scene was luminescent, filled with love,
filled with beauty.
I looked back to my brother,
and behind him was a golden arch.
Now, when I found out that my brother had AIDS,
David asked me to keep it quiet.
And so I didn't have a support system,
which was an interesting experience,
but of course I'd do whatever my brother asked.
I found myself in the bookstore.
It was Exton, Pennsylvania, Bonds & Noble.
And I was in what's called the New Age section.
At the time, I didn't even know New Age's word.
I didn't even know what that meant.
But I started to read about the afterlife.
And by the time David had passed,
I'd probably read a couple of hundred books
about the afterlife.
And so in these books, it had said,
if you ever see a door in any of your experiences,
your meditative experiences or whatever,
and it feels right, feel free to go through it.
So behind David is this golden arch.
I thought he would take me through it,
but instead my four foot, 10 inch grandmother
takes me by the hand and we skip through the door.
Now, on the other side is a fuchsia colored land,
brilliant fuchsia.
And our two sons, Kenny and Ryan have said,
they're now in their mid thirties.
Mom, don't say it's fuchsia.
Do not say it's fuchsia.
It sounds like you're tripping.
It sounds like you're loaded.
It sounds like you're high, but it really was fuchsia.
And within the fuchsia colored land,
I heard my paternal grandfather.
Now the grandparents that I had seen were my mom's parents,
but this time I heard my grandfather from my dad's side
and he had passed about 15 years ago.
And he said with very much love and joy, get over here.
And he takes me by the hand
and we fly through this fuchsia colored land
for what seems like hours.
And all of a sudden I'm on my horse.
All of a sudden my horse starts to move.
And I say, Gramps, I need to go back.
And we immediately did a U-turn, came to the Golden Arch.
I flew through the arch, landed in front of my brother.
My horse is still moving.
Everything's still the same.
My grandparents are there, Edward, Holly,
two dozen other people, the horse is moving.
And I said to everybody all at the same time,
this is in my mind, because I was just sending thought,
I have to go back, I need to go back.
And what they all said exactly at the same time,
we will always be here.
We will always be here.
And I pulled up the reins and thought,
oh my gosh, what just happened to me?
And that is what's called
a spiritual transformative experience.
It changed my life ever.
One of the really interesting things
about the fact that my brother passed
is that he has continued to this day
to communicate with me.
And not only has my brother continued,
but it has opened up a whole new realm
of communication for me
with pretty much anybody that's passed,
particularly those that are loved by me
and that know who I am.
But it doesn't mean that I can only talk
with people that I know.
I've received multiple messages from my brother.
And probably the most important message,
at least for me, is that love
is the center of our existence.
And I didn't know what love was.
I didn't know that there was anything different
than the love that I would have for my husband
or the love that I would have for my children.
I thought that was love.
But when we think about love,
it's a awareness of how beautiful,
how important, how generous, kind, and compassionate
we all can be to everyone.
There's no need for us to think any differently
about anybody that we meet or anybody that we know
if we can share love and we can share it from our heart,
not necessarily from our mind, but from our heart.
And we can let our heart lead our way.
That is the primary message
that I've received from my brother.
And I, by this time, have communicated
over 1,000 times with David.
And it's always very healing and very filled with love.
Now, I don't mean that he didn't have a time
where he needed to be healed,
but he has been healed and now he shares his love,
not only with me, but I'm sure with thousands,
maybe millions of people and entities
that he's connected with.
Because we all are connected.
We are all connected.
And that's the other big, huge message
that I have received from my brother.
Not only is love the primary center of our existence,
but we are all connected.
And if we're all connected, let's be nice.
Let's be pleasant.
Let's be appropriate.
Let's trust each, sorry, let's trust each other.
Let's be kind.
And so, yes, David has continued
to share very, very many messages with me.
So with love being the commonality
between our life here on Earth and the afterlife,
why is it that there is so much trauma,
so much distrust, so much anger
with and between cultures and generations?
Like, where does that come from?
It is a curiosity to me.
It doesn't make sense.
On the other hand, since life is eternal,
it is my opinion and the opinion of many
that we decide to come here on Earth
at a certain particular time.
And so I believe that people are here on Earth
to help heal, to help heal the distrust,
to help heal the trauma, to help heal all the judgments
and all the horrors that seem to be happening these days.
And so you, Bia, this show, myself,
and people that are awake, people that are alert
are here to help heal.
And so it's a challenge to try to figure out
why our societies are so traumatized
and so filled with anger.
It doesn't make sense,
but it also is an excellent, excellent opportunity
for those that recognize the power of love
to help share that love throughout the world
and throughout the universe.
When I think about the distrust, the challenges,
the lack of love, people that do horrible acts,
rapists, people that kill,
I often wonder how it's going to be when they pass on.
You know, what's their life going to be like
when they're not here?
And the thing that I've explored a lot,
the concept that I've explored a lot
is that people that are not nice,
people that are really very much filled with hatred,
those that do not care about others,
those that cause a lot of killings
and a lot of issues that are not good,
what I believe happens is that they do go to heaven.
I do not believe there is a hell.
I believe everybody goes to about the same place.
But those that are not kind and good individuals
need to understand what they've done.
And until they understand that
and until they forgive themselves,
they're going to remain at the same place.
They'll remain just with themselves.
They need to understand the hurt, the anger,
the sorrow, the trauma that they caused.
Once they can understand that,
then they can start to raise their own level
of consciousness.
Once they forgive themselves
and possibly and ideally forgive the people
that they have hurt, they've expressed their sorrow.
They've expressed their sadness
that they've hurt others here on earth.
Once they allow that to penetrate their own mind
and their own soul, then when they forgive themselves
and they forgive what they have done to others,
then they can continue to grow and learn.
But until they reach that point
of recognizing what they've done,
they're going to stay at the same level.
They're not going to be able
to expand their own consciousness.
And that to me seems pretty interesting
and pretty relevant to why we have healing on earth,
why we are here now as good, kind,
intelligent, loving people.
But there is a lot of people that are not like that.
And until they reach that sense of awareness,
until they reach that sense of love,
not only for themselves, but love for others,
once we have that continuity of love,
then we'll continue to expand and grow
and change and share love.
For a long time, for the 20 years
that it took me to find the courage to share this journey,
I thought a lot about if love is the center of life,
why do we have suffering?
Why do we have people that are homeless?
Why do we have people that are poor?
Why do we have people that are disabled?
I couldn't understand it.
I'm like, what is the meaning of that?
In my opinion, because there is no time,
we do have the ability to experience multiple lives.
And each life that we have, we've decided ahead of time.
We've decided ahead of time, okay,
I'd like to understand or I'd like to receive
this type of benefit from this next life
that I'm going to live on earth.
Past life regression is a common philosophy
to describe many lives that we've lived on earth.
And we can use what's called a modality past life regression
to actually receive enlightenment of our past lives.
If we've been not a very nice person in a past life,
possibly what we might decide
is I'm gonna make up for being a bad person.
I'm going to experience
what I've caused someone else to experience.
And so therefore, I'm gonna choose to not have money,
to not have a home, to not be in full physical condition.
And so in my opinion,
people that are experiencing traumas on this earth
are doing that as maybe what's called a penance
to make up for what they've experienced in the past.
Now, it's not a very pleasant concept,
but once they acknowledge the goodness in life,
I believe that everybody has free will
and everybody has the ability to move away
from the current condition that they're in.
Whether they do it in a physical manner,
an environmental, cultural, societal, or individual manner,
everybody has the ability to change
because each one of us is responsible for our own health,
our own wellbeing, our own psychological expertise,
each one of us can control our own existence.
And sometimes we feel so limited by what our options are,
we don't feel that we can control it.
But I do believe that each one of us
has the ability to share love.
But first, we need to recognize and understand
that we need to receive love from ourself and for ourself.
And once we can understand that we, each one of us,
are the most important person in our own universe,
then we can move forward.
So you think, well, if we are the most important,
how does that help us relate to others?
Once we can understand who we are,
we're not looking for something else
or someone else to help us feel better.
We know that we can feel better ourself.
And it's a marvelous way to elevate our own sense of being
and our own sense of self.
When people suffer, it's very, very hard to understand.
Why are we suffering?
And how can we get out of the suffering?
One of the ways that I've discovered works
is to spend time in nature.
And it's a tricky concept these days
because a lot of nature is disappearing.
But nature is very healing,
whether it be to be spending time with trees,
to spend time outside, to spend time looking at the sun,
to spend time sharing love with the moon,
to spend time closing our eyes,
taking a couple of deep breaths
and really feeling our inner soul,
acknowledging love, acknowledging thankfulness,
acknowledging gratitude.
And if we do that outside,
hopefully in a place where there is some grass
or a place where there's trees or the ocean,
a place where we can actually feel nature's benefit.
I really do think that helps.
And there's a wonderful concept these days.
It's called forest bathing,
where you actually go into the woods
and there's medical prescriptions now being written
to reduce stress and reduce trauma and reduce anxiety
and become relaxed by spending time in nature.
And forest bathing is called Shinrin-yoku,
was started in Japan.
And it's actually traveling around the world.
And it's been really fun to recognize
the healing powers of nature.
And if we can go and spend time in nature,
ideally, three or four times a week if you can,
but even one time a week or even one time a month,
but one time a month is a long time to wait.
But ideally, one or two times a week would be great.
And just feel nature's bounty and feel nature's beauty.
I really do believe that that can help us.
It can help us with our struggles.
It can help us connect with ourselves.
It can help us feel that we are the most important
in our world to help us feel love.
When I look around the earth these days
and I see so many people at war,
it doesn't make any sense to me.
I can't understand it and it's getting,
seems to be getting worse.
Yet, it's an opportunity for us healing people
to share love, not to participate in this war,
not to say we're the best,
therefore I'm gonna fight to continue to be the best.
It's unnecessary.
Each one of us is the best we can be.
It's helpful to hang around with people
that have like-minded souls,
to be with people that have like-minded souls,
to join a community of peace, to create peace,
to share peace, to share love,
to not support those that are in war.
We don't need to be in war.
War is not necessary.
It's divisive.
It's challenging.
People think I'm the best and therefore I need to win.
There's no need to win.
We win by sharing love.
I think we're at a pivotal point.
We can either destroy the entire world,
which seems like that could possibly happen,
or we can all of a sudden wake up
and realize we do not need war.
I can't imagine that we're gonna destroy this earth,
although lots of things are being eliminated.
I mean, gosh, even these days with the heat,
the environment is just becoming very challenging to live in.
People are getting upset and people are getting worried.
And COVID, I mean, holy mackerel,
the whole world stopped with COVID.
But it did cause us to recognize what's important in life.
And what's important in life is relationships,
positive relationships, value, family,
friendship, colleagues.
And I mean that in a very loving manner.
That's what's important.
With COVID, we all stayed in our own little circle,
but it was a circle that we each had
that was one hopefully filled with love
because we were all sort of fighting that same battle.
How can we take care of ourselves?
I personally think we're gonna survive this,
that we are going to experience love as an entire culture.
And wouldn't that be great?
And so if we feel love,
if we're comfortable sharing love, speak up.
Speak up and share your loving, kind, generous,
compassionate thoughts with others.
Be kind, be kind.
Many, many, many people are not kind these days.
It seems very silly.
Why aren't we kind?
Doesn't hurt.
Compliment people.
You know, if somebody's doing something great,
say, hey, thanks.
That was really well done
because the more courage people have
in order to be themselves,
the more love they're going to be able to share.
And that love will overcome darkness.
You know, love is light.
Love is light.
And if we have one light in a very dark room,
that light is going to expand.
It's a very interesting concept
to think about why did this happen to me?
What caused this so that I could receive this information?
I've thought about it a lot.
And the conclusion that I came was that I was ready.
I believed that there was an afterlife.
I had read hundreds of books
by the time my brother had passed.
And so I was aware that other people believed
that they could communicate with people,
with spirits, with entities that lived in another realm.
I had never done that,
but I did believe it was possible.
And that's why I think that I was able
to receive my brother's information and message so easily.
When I had my spiritual transformative experience,
it taught me that life is eternal.
It taught me that love is the continuity
between life here on earth and life beyond.
It taught me that we live forever.
It also taught me that there is no time.
Now, I'm a businesswoman
and I've started five private practices.
And one of them I had for 32 years, started myself,
ended up with over 350 staff.
And I build in five minute increments.
And I thought, how can there be no time?
How can that be a concept?
Yet, if we do live forever,
which I fully agree and fully understand,
we live forever.
Our consciousness remains after bodily death.
If we live forever, there's no time.
And that took me years to understand.
But once we realize that life is eternal,
it really causes us to think,
what do I wanna do on this earth?
What do I wanna do now?
What is it that I'm here to provide?
What is it that I'm here to learn?
And so it really brings us to question our own values
and our own worth.
And it's been a blast.
I spent 20 years after my brother passed
exploring all sorts of complimentary modalities,
all sorts of concepts, meditation, spiritual premises.
And it provided me with the ability to learn who I was,
who I am at the core, at the center,
at the very heart of me.
And it's been marvelous, a marvelous experience.
