Y'all, big changes are coming to Etsy in
2025, and if you're not paying
attention, you could be leaving money on
the table. New updates mean new
opportunities, but only if you know how
to use them to your advantage. So, if
you want to maximize your profits and
boost your sales, you're going to want
to stick around because this could be a
game changer for your shop. Let's talk
about shipping prices. So, Etsy recently
released a statement saying that anyone
that did not offer shipping below $6 was
not going to have as much traction in
the Etsy algorithm, meaning they weren't
going to be pushing your Etsy listings
out unless you were offering shipping
below $6. Now, while this may seem like
not a big deal if you're a digital
seller or someone who doesn't
necessarily have a high cost in
shipping, lots of our print on demand
people here with Makers Going to Learn
were having issues with this because
they were having to raise their prices
in order to make up for that decreased
shipping. So, this is something that I
want you all to try in your Etsy shop
for a month or two. I want you all to
decrease your shipping cost to $6.
Obviously, depending on how much you
take off of your normal shipping, you're
going to need to add that cost to your
current product pricing to make up for
the difference. I want you to do this
for just a couple months. See how it
does. See if Etsy starts pushing your
listings out a little bit more. And then
once you get in there, once you get your
foot in the door and Etsy sees that you
are selling things and they're still
pushing your listings, you can bump your
shipping back up to the normal price
that it was previously and then lower
your product price. This is simply a
strategy that I'm suggesting for you all
to try. We have seen it work in some of
our shops, but it's not necessarily a
promise thing. But it is a good way if
you have not been seeing your listings
pop up when you're searching products of
the similar type. This is a good way to
see if Etsy is more likely to push those
listings out. So, we're going to
decrease our shipping cost below $6.
We're going to put that cost into the
price of our products to make up for it,
and Etsy is going to do its thing. Have
you all considered leveraging your shop
by adjusting the category that you're
selling your products in? I want to give
you all a really good example of this.
Last summer, Etsy created some new
categories, and one of those includes
the handpicked by a seller. This
category may include something like gift
basket. So, you are actually handpicking
products to go in the basket. So the
basket is not handmade per se, but you
are putting the items into the basket.
So it's handmade by seller, but this
could also include tote bags if you're
wanting to sell towards bachelorette
parties. You could do little gift
baskets for teachers and things along
those lines. So deep dive into the
categories on Etsy and see where you
could really start optimizing those
categories to make a profit with the
products that you currently sell. Now,
let's talk about quantity versus
quality. This is something that people
will debate on and on about for Etsy
shops. Do I need to have 150 listings?
Do I need to have five listings? I think
that it's honestly a coin toss, but I
want to give you some insight into why I
think that quality is going to trump
quantity every single time. Whenever
you're putting out products that are
produced with meaning behind them, they
are high quality products that are being
created very mindfully and thoughtfully,
I think that your customer begins to
realize, hey, this person is actually
putting a lot of thought behind these
products. They're not just whipping it
up, throwing it out there to see who's
going to buy it, but they're actually
taking the time to curate these specific
products that I am going to purchase for
myself. What this does is create
longevity in your customers. So, your
clientele isn't just in and out off of
Etsy and things like that. They're going
to actually be coming back to see what
else you're creating. If you're selling
highquality shirts, if you're selling
something in a specific niche that they
absolutely love, they're going to
remember your Etsy shop and they're
going to come back every single time
because they know that the quality is
unmatched. A lot of times, this tactic
can also increase your average order
value. So, what that means is they will
typically buy one product and then
they'll maybe add on a couple other
things while they're there as well
because they know and trust the quality
of your products. These are just a few
things that you can start incorporating
into your Etsy shop to really optimize
the Etsy algorithm in 2025. I hope that
you all learned something new in this
video and you're able to take some of
these tips and start incorporating them
