With 24,000 square kilometers, it's pretty big and, above all, diverse.
We were in the quieter west of the island.
Even in the high season, the small towns on the west coast are not overcrowded
and the beaches offer a lot of space.
There is not only tourism here, but also normal, tranquil life.
Beach holiday, city hobby and culture can be perfectly combined.
Our tip? Renting a car.
Many streets offer spectacular views.
Sardinia and the sea, that's a very special chapter.
The west coast is adjacent to the open Mediterranean.
The waves can get quite high on some sections
and often a fresh wind blows.
Ideal for almost all types of water sports.
We particularly liked the charming coastal town of Bosa with its colourful houses.
Underneath the castle, narrow alleys run through the medieval town.
Acceleration is completely automatic here.
A small open-air museum has been set up on the castle, which is located above the city.
If you want, you can paddle from the city centre to the sea on the river.
The beaches are only about 2 km away.
A dream road, the SP 49 from Bosa to Alghero.
After about 1.5 hours you arrive in the coastal town of Alghero.
With 44,000 inhabitants, it is much larger than Bosa,
but still small enough to explore it on foot.
Small shops and excellent restaurants make Alghero a place to visit.
And in between, just take a break at one of the countless beaches.
Or visit Taros, one of the archaeological attractions of West Sardinia.
