I'm Jacob. I'm Yuri. And we're going to show you everything there is to know about the new Ram RHO.
Is the RHO the TRX replacement? It is not. The RHO is this new separate thing, Yuri. It has a
completely different powertrain to the TRX of the previous generation, so Yuri. Horsepower jerk!
540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque from a three-liter inline six-cylinder high-output
version. And what does RHO stand for? It stands for two things. Ram High Output Motor. And Rhino.
Yes, so they had to put an animal attached to it because I guess they can't use the TRX anymore.
Ford's got the Raptor, and my theory is the only animal that works with RHO is Rhino. Okay,
so let's explain what this truck actually is. And if you know another animal that's RHO,
let us know in the comments below. It is a Raptor competitor. It is not a Raptor R competitor.
That would be the TRX. And what they've basically said, unofficially officially, is that
when the time is right for a TRX, there will be another TRX. But the powertrain is unconfirmed,
and our guess is likely going to be some sort of hybrid inline six-cylinder version of this.
So I think what they did, Ford, they put out the Raptor V6 first, and then they put out the
supercharged V8. Yep. These guys did it opposite because they knew emission stuff would come in,
so they put out the supercharged V8 first, and now you're getting the Raptor competitor. Exactly. So
it's all, it all works out. There's no need to be mad. We already have the TRX that exists,
and you should probably get one at tsp.truecar.com as soon as possible. If you can afford a used TRX,
go to tsp.truecar.com because I think the values are going to skyrocket on those. All right, Yuri,
let's get to the exterior right now. So the exterior is largely changed, but it's also
largely unchanged. So the biggest changes are obviously right at the front. So let's start
with these headlights. Yuri, what do you think they look like? Because Yuri's got a theory on
these headlights. This is a reverse Ford Escape. I sort of understand where he's coming from, but
it looks way better. But we have other, look, we have other Rams here, and they do not share the
same headlights, so that's kind of cool. Yeah, so we've got the Ram Rebel X right here. The headlights
are not illuminated. Let me turn them on, let me turn them on real quick. So that's what the
headlights look like in amber mode. And let me show you the power wagon quick. More of a single line
at the bottom. But the taillights are very similar, where they're actually outlined on the
power wagon as well as the Ram 1500 RHO. And the power wagon's a 2500. But if you look over at this
Rebel X, then it's just the middle. So back to the front end on the RHO. So we have the
lettering that you can actually see through, kind of like a Chevy Flowtie, except it's Ram.
And the grille is also, the actual shape of it is completely different. It's a little bit,
I guess, squeezed together. The whole front end, it's kind of been squished together,
where it looks a little bit more aggressive. So the headlights are actually smaller than the last
Ram. And then we have this like eyebrow looking thing, which is kind of a unibrow, I guess,
because it's looking pretty aggressive. And they did keep the ambers in the hood as well,
because this thing is super wide. We've got the ambers over here because it needs the marker
lights, just like a Ford Raptor. Shout out, I'm wearing the shirt, sorry Ram. And then we've got
tow hooks over here. We have a steel bumper. And look at this, we've got a radar sensor.
They have a lot of nice adaptive cruise features and all that stuff. And this is how
different the grille looks on a non-RHO model. It looks like you see the logo a lot higher up,
so it's not fully centered anymore. That's right. And we should pop the
hood on this thing before we check out the rest of the back end.
By the way, I want to name this the Flowram instead of the Flowtie.
So let's look at this all new Hurricane high output. Oh, this is going to be the first time
we're actually popping this. There it is. Jacob, have you ever driven a Hurricane
high output in line six? No, Yuri.
But I have in the Wagoneer L. It's pretty nice. Good power, especially for such a big SUV.
So this is the highest output version of the high output Hurricane so far. So we've got Ram
airflow right here. It's all carbon fiber, or at least it appears to be carbon fiber.
You know what I'm noticing right away, Yuri? The air filter.
There's no T-Rex eating a Raptor here. Yeah, what's up with that?
Because it's not a T-Rex and it's not eating a Raptor, although this has more horsepower
than the Raptor that it actually competes with. Because again, this does not keep up
with the Raptor R. This is meant to be a Raptor competitor. And it has like 90 more horsepower,
I think, than the Raptor. But is the price the same?
We'll get to the price later because this is actually very affordable in comparison
to the outgoing T-Rex. All right, so there's a big old K&N style filter.
I think you'll be able to shake this out pretty easily. So if you go off-roading,
it's easy to clean. Yeah. So we're going to close this hood
because we're getting some kind of sound from it. There we go.
The hood graphic, is that cool or not cool? It's pretty basic. I'm not upset by it.
RHO. Is RHO cooler than T-Rex?
No, it's just a different thing. It's meant to be different.
Is RHO cooler than Raptor? No.
Considering a Raptor R exists. The Raptor name was very iconic,
and especially with T-Rex because they were just like right there and there.
Okay, but let's talk side profile starting with these wheels and tires.
So you can obviously get beadlock capable wheels and the Continental recommended tire
would be the Terrain Contact AT. And these are 35s. They have not gone to a 37.
You can't really fit a 37 without sacrificing some of the suspension travel.
So suspension wise here, you come over here. Actually, let's show in the back is a little
bit easier right over here. Don't these kind of look like the same
wheels as last gen? Look very similar.
I mean, it's hard to redesign kind of an off-roady type wheel.
So we still have the Bilstein Blackhawk E squared shocks that they used on the previous gen,
but they did change the damping characteristics and all that kind of stuff to adjust for
the different weight of the whole truck because the engine is completely different.
So it is still a Baja truck. All that fun stuff is still there.
It is kind of relatively new underneath, but they changed enough to make it
adaptable to this new powertrain because we still have all the same drive modes.
We will show you guys the interior soon, but exterior wise, it's kind of very,
very similar. So we still have those wide beefy fenders.
We still got a nicer little vent over here. I mean, outside of that, Yuri,
do you like this graphic that we started the video with?
It's RHO right here. It's like the same font as the TRX, isn't it?
I'm like, I'm surprised there's no horn built into it, like a rhino horn.
Yeah. It's like, that could have been something.
Yeah. Yeah.
They'll probably do that because like, look at this, this big old Ram over here.
A Ram isn't a rhino though.
No, it's not. So we do have another RHO badge back here and that's really about it.
Can we listen to it from the outside?
Not in this video. They won't let us start it.
Let's rev the wagon here and hope for the best.
Although this is supposed to sound completely different because
they went to an equal length exhaust manifold. So this is supposed to have its own unique character.
And then the mufflers are also different because they have a valve system.
So apparently when this is wide open,
it's supposed to sound quite different than anything else they've made with this engine.
All right, Yuri, thanks for getting those exhaust shots here.
We've forgotten our slider, so I'm going to pull you out.
How did that shot look?
Perfect. So the Ford Raptor apparently sounds a little trumpety.
It's got equal length exhaust, not equal length headers.
So we'll see how that compares, but that's V6 and this is inline six.
Exactly. So this might sound smoother and it shouldn't sound very trumpety.
Okay.
Pop that down and it is powered. You got to hold it.
This is a pre-production model, so.
Yeah. We got a liner in here. It's all nice.
We got some power on the left side right there.
It seems like a very usable truck bed.
Jacob, as a Ford Raptor owner, first gen 6.2 liter.
Yes.
Do you approve of this?
I mean, there's no step.
Well, actually come over here, Yuri.
Kick that down right there and get in that bed.
There we go.
There you go. I mean, it works.
Is it better than the step on a Raptor or what?
I mean, you got up there, so it works.
I don't know if it's better. It's just a different approach to it.
There's none on this side, so it's only on one side.
Oh, you can't measure anything back here, like on your Ford or anything like that.
There's no phone holder.
Where's the bottle opener?
Yeah.
All right. We got all our tow stuff here.
Jacob, what is our towing in the RHO?
8,380 pounds.
So I think that's up from the previous TRX because I think the thing weighs a little bit less.
And even though it's kind of the same, but different.
Same, same.
Same, same, but different.
The wheel travel is 14 inches, I believe, out back and then 13 inches from the front.
And there is a promo video for this.
We should play a clip of that right now.
And it's got the guy from Top Gun, but the guy who had to sit out, right?
Yeah, I don't really remember.
And Scream Queens.
This is actually the truck that they use for that.
So there's still sand coming from the desert every time we open a panel or something like that.
When you kick this thing down, there's a bunch of sand that poured out.
This thing has lasted through a bunch of desert jumping and drifting.
And Tanner Faust?
Yeah, that's right.
Shout out.
Okay, Yuri, would you like to check out the inside?
Oh, my favorite.
Let's talk about the interior and the visors.
Let's do it.
Welcome to the interior of the RHO.
First thing I noticed, huge screen, vertical 14 inches, and a full digital gauge cluster.
Is this one bigger than the last one?
I think so.
I think it's two inches bigger, like taller.
We haven't driven the standard new Ram 1500.
Not yet.
So we don't know exactly what's in that one, but this does look nice.
It looks like we have a lot of good functionality.
I think we can get our full 360 cameras, which is awesome for off-roading.
Let me find that button.
Let him cook.
I would scroll here somewhere.
Let him cook now.
Let him cook.
I said, let him cook!
It'll call me Yuri the Infotainment to ration for nothing.
Here's the stage that we're on in a secret facility.
Okay, so this is a pre-production vehicle, so things are...
No, these are the buttons to make it work.
There we go.
We got trail reverse guidance.
That seems pretty cool.
Trail surround camera.
Yeah, again, pre-production vehicle.
Yeah, and we can put an auxiliary camera, which is really cool.
Don't expect this.
I don't want to hear it.
That's not the blue screen of that.
There's no camera hooked up.
Okay, so what I'm noticing here is that there's a bunch of hard...
Well, hard-looking buttons.
Hard-looking buttons.
These are actually baked into the infotainment for trailer steering gain and your parking sensor.
For a second, I thought these aux buttons were also digital.
Yeah, so these aux button buttons are actually physical.
So, Yuri, press them.
Let's see what happens.
That's Yuri's mouth.
And then we also have, what, this push to center?
Oh, so this is your...
Trailer.
Okay, cool.
Trailer brake.
So that makes sense.
And then what about USBs down here?
We have C and A.
And then we have an HDMI port.
Look at that.
Yeah, we like how you can use USB-C or USB-A.
And then we got the RAM charger right here with the little slot at the bottom
so that you can run your cable through if you do wired carplay, which is what we prefer.
And there is actually a RAM charger model now.
So that's a little confusing.
What if I want to order a wireless charger versus a truck?
What are they going to do?
I have no idea.
All right, let's go through this gauge cluster.
Okay.
I'm noticing the RHO right at the top, which is kind of cool.
What I really want to know is how cool is the startup graphics.
So let me turn it off.
Open the door.
Let's see what happens.
Put on the lights to auto.
Don't put your foot on the...
I will not put...
We're going to get kicked out.
Banned for life.
Not even one rhino.
No rhino.
Okay.
We do have a rhino right here though.
Yeah, right over here.
You can actually see it right beside the RHO.
Let me just film the correct orientation so you guys can see that.
Right there.
Yuri's going to get a...
We'll insert this into the video so everyone can see very clearly.
Actually, I need this for the thumbnail.
Ah, there we go.
This is how we do our thumbnails.
Yuri, the thumbnail.
Teresian.
You got the rhino.
Do you like this rhino graphic?
Like it's pretty cool.
It is cool, yeah.
I mean, if they're going to pick an animal, it's a good one to pick.
They should have had the rhino splash.
I'm actually going to film it off your phone so that everyone can see it.
Oh, yeah, there you go.
Look at that.
Look at that rhino.
That is pretty cool.
Everyone want to see this VIN number?
It's probably going to get crushed.
If this shows up on Cars and Bids one day.
Oh, look, we got a digital...
It's playing a video because...
Because the background is a video.
Yeah.
What do we have up here?
So these are just our controls for the sunroof, which is actually a massive panel roof,
which is pretty cool.
We have our button for our power tailgate.
Okay, so back to that gauge cluster.
Can we go through these RHO drive modes?
I like this RHO drive mode button, and I like that there's a launch control right below it.
Oh, yeah, because this 0-60 is supposed to be very comparable to the other one as well
from the old TRX.
And your Fox Body Mustang.
Yeah.
I'm actually faster than this in my Fox Body Mustang, but hey, this is a big truck.
Okay, so there's no real graphics.
Okay, well...
Go to Baja and just like let it play.
Where's Baja?
Did I see it?
Yeah.
Oh, there it goes.
So this does have a Baja mode.
Yes.
Oh, you're on snow.
Oh, okay, so the graphics change.
Okay, so let's just say that there is a ton of lag, but this is pre-production, so we don't...
And the car's not on.
Yeah.
Let me just press it the correct amount of times.
I'm trying, man.
I'm trying my best.
Snow.
Try harder.
Two, three.
There.
Four.
Okay, that's the correct time.
I'm back.
Okay, pre-production vehicle, guys.
So it's not letting us do that, but it's got some alright graphics.
Nothing like unreal.
It's just like a photo.
It is literally not the Unreal Engine like GM has been doing.
Then we got our tach left to right, which is pretty cool.
I'm sure you can change it up a little bit.
We got...
Oh, there it is.
We got screen setup, so we can do upper cen...
Oh, badge.
Oops.
Display style.
Traditional or modern.
Okay.
So there's a lot of cool stuff we can do with it.
It'd be really fun to get into the RHO and then test that all out one day.
And we will be eventually driving this as well.
And since you're holding on to that steering wheel, tell me about those paddles.
Did they do full-size paddles or are they still half paddles?
They are double halfsies.
Oh, okay.
Hollow in the middle.
Here, let me get some light on there.
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
So they're a full paddle, but with enough in the middle to be able to control your radio control.
Yeah, which is the most important part.
Yes, that's right.
I want to be able to control my Sirius XM.
Come on.
Okay, so things that they added to the RHO that they previously did not have in the TRX.
Let's see if this one has it.
There's an option package to get massage seats for the first time.
I don't think we have it in this one.
Do not put your foot on the brake.
I will not put my foot on the brake.
Yeah, I don't think this particular one has it.
Massage.
Oh, you're right.
Yes.
Okay, we're going to turn on both our massages.
Pre-production.
Yeah.
And then what this also has that the Grand Wagoneer that we're driving today has
is a screen here on the right.
And see if that works.
No, it's just me.
This is the button.
Okay, so anyways, there is a passenger screen if you get the option package,
which also includes the massage seats.
So this is the standard interior.
It is the upgraded one, but at the same time,
there is a separate option package that gets you some like red leather accents as well.
And then I do see a bunch of carbon fiber, like on the steering wheel.
I see it all the way up here as well.
And then we got a place for all your cigarettes and whatever.
And then we got a 12-volt up there.
It's actually for your white Oakley gas cans.
Yeah.
Look, we got this thing here, which will track your eyes,
which means it'll have a theoretically good lane keep and adaptive cruise.
And I'll see carbon fiber over there as well.
Really nice material.
This is a borderline luxury truck.
We have seat presets and a hard button for massage.
Show me those seat presets.
Oh yeah, I see them.
Let me put some more light on it.
There we go.
Jinx, owe me a Coke.
And we hope you guys are enjoying this like very authentic experience
as we're discovering this truck,
because we just want you guys to discover the truck the same time that we are.
Yeah, pretend that you're us.
And this is what you would do if you sat in the truck with your car buddy.
Yeah, on the toilet where you're currently taking a dump while watching.
What about the cup holder, Yuri?
It looks like it'll fit a small cup just fine.
We got good.
Well, maybe small cup.
Maybe.
I think it'll be okay.
This lip might be interesting.
Oh, but it has a carbon fiber.
I'm going to give that a...
A medium.
We don't know yet.
I don't think it'll pass.
This is a nice shifter, which is normal.
And you can put it to S on the left here.
Show that.
Okay, right there.
And then up for down, down for up.
So you know it's good.
Okay, and then this cannot do too high, right?
It can only do four-wheel drive.
And that's why this one cannot do burnouts.
So here are the lit up buttons.
Don't worry about your phone, Yuri.
So we got four-wheel drive low, four-wheel drive high,
four-wheel drive auto, and axle lock.
So we can't do, like you said, rear-wheel drive.
So that is reserved for the Raptor R still.
Let's see what revs we can set up our launch control at.
Launch control is unavailable.
Vehicle.
Oh, that'll probably be in apps.
Let's see if my...
How long, hold on, let's see how long it takes to load our SRT pages.
Well, this is a pre-production vehicle.
Oh, race options.
I see it.
Don't say it, don't say it, don't say it.
Wait, I'm gonna wait.
Yuri's timing this.
Three, two, one.
Oh, that was real quick.
Wow, 2.2 seconds.
Okay, so much improved from the last Stellantis.
Shift lights.
So we can program our shift lights, which is pretty cool.
Launch control, we can start at 1500.
Yeah, pre-production vehicle.
Race prep.
So let's see what we have in race prep.
Oh, you cannot because it's a new vehicle, low mileage.
We've got engine off, hooded jar, battery status.
So very previous gen-like, even though this is not a V8 anymore.
And then we do have hard buttons around here as well.
Yeah, for climate stuff, which is nice.
We got a tuning knob, which is actually awesome,
which also kind of controls what's going on inside.
Let's see if we got SiriusXM activated.
It does not look like it's activated, but let's...
Grab your internet connection.
No internet connection.
Pre-production, all good.
And then we have a shortcut key at the top
for our heated steering wheel and heated seats,
which is nice to have.
So you can get to that pretty quickly.
Yeah.
So, oh, Yuri, one most important feature.
Visors, right?
Visors, okay.
Show me those visors.
You want me to light it up or is that good?
No, no, we're good, we're good.
Three, two, one.
Yes.
Super truck pass.
Full pass.
All right, let's try and get this one just to make sure,
because some companies are cost-cutting.
So three, two, one.
Yes.
No cost-cutting here, baby.
And then we do have garage door opening buttons here
because if you do own this,
you probably want to lock it up at night in Toronto.
Yes.
Okay, let's show the seats
because right now sitting in them,
I'm actually pretty comfortable.
Although if we open the door, it's going to start beeping.
So...
Okay, let's see what's okay.
We'll show it right away.
I can turn off the engine and then put the lights to auto.
We're good.
Okay, so the seats, we've got RHO right in them.
That's very Rhino-like.
They did a good job with that.
It's a little bit, yeah.
That's like the little R thing is the horn.
So the seats do look comfortable and they are actually comfortable.
They are cushy.
This is like full big man-sized chairs.
They're very Hellcat from the previous generation in a good way.
Up, down, forward, back, lumbar,
not just forward, back.
So that's nice to have.
And then because it's a truck, we've got cup holders back here
and we should probably just check out the back seats.
First, if you are a smaller person, we do have pedals that move.
Oh, I mean, even as a tall person, I like to adjust them.
As a certified tall person at six foot one and a half.
All right, let's check the back.
I think I saw a stat that there's only like five NBA players who are six foot one.
Oh, good thing I'm not an NBA player.
You're not certified tall.
I am certified in the general population, just like in prison.
Okay, so this is the only crew cab or configuration you can get for this truck.
Same with the bed length, so there's nothing crazy here.
Lift these up, lift these up.
Oh, there you go.
And then we got this little thing for storing laser beams.
There, look.
Look at that.
You can see that.
Sorry, it's a little dark back here, but Yuri's going to light it up, I imagine.
I'm going to light it up.
Light them up.
Light it up.
Okay, so we've got a little panel here that moves.
And then we can fold this down and store that.
Store that, which is actually pretty sweet.
Then drop the seats down with a...
Press that.
Okay, and then are there any hidden compartments?
We have this.
Okay, look at that.
Oh, this is like suede as well.
Oh, yeah, it's like a nice armrest with a...
With storage?
These cup holders look awesome.
Yeah, for backseat room.
And there's so much room back here.
Yeah.
So much room.
Jacob, sit behind yourself at six foot one and a half.
Here you go.
Power adjustable, to be expected at this price, which we haven't got to yet.
It's actually a great price.
Lumbar is up, down, and left, right.
Okay.
In your headroom, tons.
Bro, it's a...
Wow, certified tall person.
Good.
Here, let me put some light on it.
Let me put some light on it.
Make sure you get my dandruff.
What dandruff?
Exactly.
So today's episode is sponsored by...
Selson Blue.
You know, The Rock has a hair shampoo brand.
And it's like, if I had hair, this is what I would use.
That's...
Amen.
What kind of plugs and panels do we have here?
So we have...
Proper AC power.
Yeah, which is really nice.
And heated and cooled back here.
With hard buttons, they can do that.
And no screens back here?
Is this for your smokes and stuff?
No, for your phone.
Okay, look, we've got these things for like Kirra Beaners or whatever.
MOLLE or whatever.
Here, look.
That's not for your phone.
What is it for then?
Maybe, maybe...
I just told you what it's for.
Smokes?
Yeah.
A couple of random darts?
Yeah, exactly.
But yeah, so that's about it back here.
Do these backs fold down?
Just out of here, so yeah.
Is there a secret?
And then I'm sure this window slides open with a controller up here.
Yes, it does.
So I think that's it with the all-new RHO.
Everything that we can do right now walking around it, except for let's get to the price.
I'm going to start with the US price, which is an extreme value compared to the old TRX.
$69,995.
Yeah, you heard me right.
$69,995 American.
Now, if we go to Canadian, a little bit more expensive.
It's actually $112,945.
So if we compare that to its closest competitor, the Ford Raptor,
it's a lot cheaper to get this over the Raptor in the States.
So the Raptor starts at $78,000 US dollars.
But in Canada, it starts at $107,000.
So it's the reverse in Canada versus the States.
So it's kind of crazy.
In the US, it's a big bargain.
In Canada, it's kind of a toss-up.
But you still do get more horsepower than the Raptor.
So I see why this exists.
And compared to the Raptor R, this is way cheaper.
But also compared to the TRX, this is way cheaper.
Yeah, but the Raptor R, you know, that is not comparable to this.
That's what I'm saying.
That is TRX, which you should check out on tsp.truecar.com
because that one is not going to come back the way it was
to compete with the Raptor R.
Yeah, we loved that thing, as I think everybody did.
But this is the new, not replacement,
this is the new successor to the Raptor competitor
that never existed before from Ram.
Okay, what do you think the new TRX is going to be?
Is it going to be all electric when it comes out?
I think it's going to be a hybrid version of this powertrain.
That's my guess.
It's going to be a hybrid three-liter inline hurricane.
I don't know, they're going to call it Hurricane NATO or something.
I don't really know.
All right, well, I think that's about it.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for subscribing.
Let us know what we missed while we were checking this out.
What would you check out if you were looking at cars with your car buddies?
Thanks for watching.
Really appreciate it.
I'm just going to keep pointing this way.
