Giants vs. Cubs full game highlights from 5/6/25
The Giants getting ready to bat
now you're scrams in the lead
off spot Colin Ray plugged into
steals spot in the rotation once
he went down with Tommy John
surgery and J.D. he has pitched
magnificently for the Cubs.
He sure has.
The Cubs are four on his starts
he's two and oh personally
Stravinsky first pitch swing
lifts it to left there's Ian
Hack one pitch and one out.
And here is Willie Adamas.
Swing did he go.
Yes he did says Bill Miller
Miller struck him out.
Adamas is gone two away.
Yeah he definitely won two down
here is Jung who Lee swing and
miss struck him out and a good
start for Colin Ray.
It's the veteran right hander
still looking for his first
Giants win Justin Verlander.
And he's been outstanding in his
last three but overall Owen to
with a four three eight Ian
Happ leads it up and he gets him
with a good tight slider.
And you saw right there really
had the slider working for the
strikeout pitch lately in the
four Seamer as well.
So now facing Kyle Tucker these
two know each other very well
Tucker with a one out walk.
And that's the first base runner
of this ballgame first pitch
swing ground ball to Chapman.
There's one wisely to first got
him double play.
OK after the walk one pitch two
outs Chapman gets the lead off
one scoreless game second inning
to one out.
Here's Lamont Wade Junior left
handed hitter.
He pulls that one sharply into
right field base it Chapman's
going to tear around second and
head for third.
Wade with the first Giants hit
and the Giants have first and
third only one out in Elliott
Ramos now to try and put them
ahead against Colin Ray chops
that one toward third and it's
going to be a hesitation and a
late throw to first gets away.
The Cubs don't get it out.
Chapman's into score and over to
third goes Wade Verde was
thinking about coming home.
Look that way and that cost him
an out.
He didn't get a single one.
I mean at that point just eat
it right.
There's no way you're going to
throw out that base runner.
So the Giants with the early one
nothing lead.
Here is Patrick Bailey Bailey to
left.
That should be plenty deep enough
half all the way back near the
warning track and he'll catch it
tagging from third is Lamont.
He comes in to score and it's a
two run inning Giants lead to
nothing to nothing Giants in the
third Willie Adamas Adamas up
the middle base hit for Willie
Adamas.
The Giants are having some good
swings here runner at first one
out Jung who lead for his second
one at bat it's that one high
and deep to right field Tucker
watches gone into the bleachers
John Lee.
Welcome to Wrigley his fourth
home run of the season and the
Giants have a four nothing lead.
He has such a pretty left handed
swing and when he hits it that
good and Tucker just gave it a
courtesy job.
But there was no doubt about
that one.
Jung who Lee fans like to smile
and Jung who Lee likes to make
him smile.
Last of the third inning the
Giants had four nothing.
Dansby Swanson leads off he's
got a seven game hitting streak
going and make that an eight
game hitting streak with a solid
ground ball between third and
short.
Now the catcher Miguel Amaya is
drilled out to run homerun just
like that.
The lead is cut in half and the
Cubs are with it to have gotten
eleven home runs from their
catcher so far this year their
second in the majors as a team
and catcher OBS base hit for
Ramos Bailey with the single to
right.
The Giants have first and third
one out and now wisely this is a
big at bat.
Great opportunity to add on with
one out doesn't necessarily take
a hit to do it.
The Bunt over the head of
Baseman and they get the one out
and now they've got the other
one in the throw is lost by
Swanson and safely back to first
is Bailey.
The Giants do get the run.
Wow what a crazy play.
Wisely went to drag Bunnett and
Michael Bush the first baseman
came charging in and wisely
Bunnett it so hard and with a
little height to it that it went
right over Michael Bush.
The Giants now have a five to
two lead.
Dan speak Swanson continues to
rake his second hit of the ball
game one away Swanson advances
to second on the one out for the
ninth place hitter John Birdie
pick off play and it gets past
the second baseman wisely in the
center field Swanson advances to
third.
I have no idea what just
happened.
That looked like a good throw
and they've charged the air to
Verlander that can't be on
Verlander.
I think they got to charge
wisely with the air.
That throw is right.
That has to be caught up the
middle wisely knocks it down.
Birdie's got to be safe.
Rose scores RBI infield single
John Birdie and the Cubs move a
little bit closer.
It's now San Francisco five and
the Cubs three.
They're in the fifth.
He goes the pitch taken Bailey's
first throw tag out at second.
Oh man what a throw and what a
tag by Adamas because Birdie got
a big jump first time caught
stealing all year.
Cubs look at it.
They won't challenge two down.
That was tremendous.
Apple take his base Tucker with
his first hit of the night.
They're at the corners and it'll
bring out the D.H.
Sanchez Suzuki.
Here's the pitch Suzuki liner to
right.
Yes.
He is there to make the catch.
And so Verlander survives the
fifth with the lead intact just
one for the Cubs a strand to
that is only the second walk
allowed this year by Rodriguez
in 15 in the third inning.
So now you've got two on with
two out for the catcher Miguel
Amaya who hit a home run against
Verlander earlier in the game.
It becomes a much more stressful
situation for Rodriguez.
He strikes out swinging.
So Rodriguez gives up the blue
pit and a walk but no runs.
And here we go.
The time run in D'Angelo
Swanson got him.
It's just devastating on a
righty shows him three straight
sliders hasn't seen the fastball
yet doesn't chase the slider
away.
So oh you're looking slider.
So I'll throw you the freeze
ball right here and Kelly will
take his base.
So pretty uncharacteristic only
two walks on the season rally
cat rally cat rally cat Walker
has issued two bases on balls.
The tying run is at first Justin
Turner at the plate right side.
Shunsky eyes up for hits the
baseball half trying to come
through the infield is back.
Got a ninety seven two down Bob
Melvin going to the Briggs in
the hard drawing lefty Eric
Miller.
What a moment of drama here
you've got Kyle Tucker coming
up.
The tying run is 90 feet away.
That's Carson Kelly pitch.
Base hit and we're wasting no
time.
Brand new ball game tied at five
say Suzuki stepping in to.
Did he go.
Yes he did.
Strike three.
Miller does get the third out
but not before Kyle Tucker ties
the game on to the 10th.
We go we go to the bottom of the
10th inning five to five.
The possible winning run is at
third base but now with two down
Swanson has two hits in the
game.
On we go to the 11th neither
team able to score in the 10th
in a tough spot now game tied
five five 11th inning nobody out
runners at second and third
Bailey a left handed batting
catcher.
He lines out into center field
and it gets down base hit six to
five Giants win a chance to get
more which is a good idea to get
more.
He squares to but Buntz it
Ramos breaks for the plate the
flip the slide he's a ball not
handled cleanly wisely his
second but for an RBI in the
game it's seven to five and the
Cubs still haven't gotten it
out.
That's exciting baseball right
there.
So that loads the bags and the
Giants already leading by two
have the meat of their order due
up now way inside it gets by
Kelly and late breaking Bailey.
Everybody just stopped maybe
maybe thought that Adamas got
hit Bailey comes in to score and
it's eight to five but they say
it was a hit by Bill Miller
called it a hit by the bases are
still loaded.
So here is Jung who Lee Lee
Leidreich base hit right field
wisely in over to third and
stopping there Yastrzemski four
runs are in still no outs nine
to five in the eleven.
Here's Chapman with the bases
loaded into left field another
hit Yastrzemski scores Adamas
around third Hill score.
Eleven to five.
Here's Wilmer.
Here's another base hit Wilmer
into left Jung Lee comes around
third the throw off line Hill
score standing twelve to five.
Keep going.
This is just having one of those
nights.
Yeah.
Giants fans have not gone home
Ramos down the left field line
and it's going to be his second
and double of the inning.
Chapman scores 13 to five.
Now Patrick Bailey swing and he
hits a high drive in the center
field drifting back is a Crowe
Armstrong.
Now he comes running in to make
the catch and he's going to
throw to third Wilmer Flores
trots home with run number 14
the ninth run of the inning.
This is the most runs by a team
in a single extra inning in
Wrigley Field history.
Wow.
Two down last of the eleven
fourteen to five Giants got him
with the fastball the Giants
finish off an amazing win and
they win this game fourteen to
five.
