How's it going everybody? I'm Nikki Delventhal and this is my dog Camper Delventhal.
We live in this four-wheel Tacoma pop-up camper and we're here to take you along on the wild ride.
So fasten up your seat belts and let's have some fun.
Don't forget if you like what you see, like, subscribe, comment,
share with your friends, and turn on notifications. Camper and I would be so thankful.
On last week's episode, Camper and I do something we've never done before. We were craving some
community and ended up meeting up with a group of van lifers who we would be meeting for the
very first time. We hit it off having a blast wild camping together, going for bike rides,
cooling off in the icy cold river, having a hot sauce challenge,
and so much more. Leaving off our adventures, saying goodbye, and heading to town to seek
out a vet. Noticing Camper had a big bump appear on his arm. Good morning. All right,
today we are going to go meet my sister Kayla and Camper's cousin Boa in the Mount Hood area.
But before we could do that, we did stop by the vet to make sure Camper's ringworm was in check
and to check out a few other things. Good news, Camper's not contagious anymore, so him and Boa
can hang out. But bad news, the doctor did find a tumor on Camper. At the moment, they are unsure
what type of tumor it is, but I'm going to do whatever it takes to make sure Camper is okay.
We just scheduled a surgery and biopsy for Monday when we will find everything out, so that means
we're going to stay in the area. And in the meantime, we are going to head a few hours north
and go see our family. It is the weekend in Oregon, and it's going to be a super hot one,
hitting 90 degrees Fahrenheit, so anywhere with water is going to be so crowded. So hoping to beat
the crowds, we're going to try to find something off the beaten path. Ways that I find this are
very similar to how I'll find free camp spots, is I will go on Google Maps and I will turn on
satellite, and I will just search all the dirt roads and see what's around. Sometimes it's a
bust, and sometimes I find a hidden gem. Hopefully it's not a bust, but it looks like five miles down
this dirt road is a trailhead that intersects with the Salmon River, so let's cross our fingers.
But either way, we are so excited to see our sister Kayla and cousin Boa. There she is! Hi, Boa!
Hi, dear Bo-Bo! Hi, dear Bo-Bo! Is this the lady that got you a new hip? You got a new... oh my god, his hip is so good!
Hi! Oh, I'm so happy to see you!
He's so happy. Oh my gosh, look at our children playing. Oh, they're being so cute.
All right, I think we're ready to go. Yep, through the trails.
This has a lot more up and down than I expected. I like it. Look at that leg!
In case you guys missed it, a few months ago we helped with Boa's leg surgery through our
charity, Camper Cares, and he is running so well. If you want to check that video out, it is right here.
Boa's camper, look at him.
We got the stick, Meister.
Kayla, what is that on the trees?
Uh, Spanish moss. It's actually not a moss. Kayla, what are these red things?
Um, it's in the rose family. I don't know what species it is, but you know because of the serrated
leaves and many to one leaflet. Also, it's got spines. It's one of those two things together
that make you think it's a wild rose and then every flower creates a berry. So, those are berries.
No way. All right, we have found today's summit. River access. All right, back to our hotels for
the night. Oh, I can't believe we almost missed this. How's the view, camper? Let us know.
Is it worth it? Yep. Come on, guys. We did it. We made it back. I am so hungry.
Should we find camp or camp here and just make food?
Yeah, there's not here, so it's not a bad option. I'll just move my car.
Kayla, what are you doing here? Very cool. And that's a spot for Boa.
Well, this is glued on now.
We got some Reflectix. That's insane. That thing's huge.
Welcome to my home. Wow, camper's sleeping. All right, let's get some light and some venting in
here. Yeah, that's pretty cool. We're gonna make some food. Is this just here to tempt me or?
Okay, wait, hang on. It was like, just, yeah. Oh, look. Ten second rule. What about camper?
Can you touch it in your mouth? Well, we tried.
Have some more sloppy joes.
All right, who's ready for dinner?
Cheers.
All right, we have an outdoor shower, but it's getting cold, and I don't feel like
doing that outside right now, so we are going to sponge bath. Kayla, you want a sponge bath?
Okay, Mr. Cute's already in bed.
Good night. Night.
Love you. Love you. What'd you do? Here we go. You want to put them on my feet? I would love to.
Perfect, perfect fit. Like, finger off. Okay, if you were me, and I were me, where would we put
my head mat? We are definitely in the same family. I can never find anything.
If I were me, I'd probably put it on top of my bed. Where was it?
Rock one. Wow, you're so graceful. It's like, very spacious, so.
Honestly, I want, like, less room, you know?
Night, love you too.
Morning, camper. Ready to get up?
Good morning. Good morning. Good morning.
When you are camping, there is a very, very specific way that you're supposed to use the
bathroom. This is all one-handed. First off, look up leave no trace ethics. If you don't know it,
don't go outside. Second, pooping in the wild. You'd need to dig a hole and stop leaving
toilet paper all over the place. It's like, you show up at a beautiful place, and you're like,
oh my god, and you're like, and you look over, and there's a big old human turd
and toilet paper scattered, and it's like, this is not what we want, you know? Leave things just
as nice as you found them. It's okay to poop outside, but dig a hole about this deep. Little
shaka. Yeah, it's a good way to do it. Six to ten inches deep is how deep you want to dig your hole.
So if you show up at a campsite, don't leave your trash, don't leave your toilet paper.
Now, there's actually certain climates you're not supposed to put your toilet paper in that hole,
so bring a bag with you as well. Let's say you're in a desert. No, because there's not enough
moisture to degrade that toilet paper. Try to get toilet paper that doesn't have bleach in it.
Yeah, a lot of toilet paper has chemicals, which will not be good for the little guys down there
taking all your poop and eating it. Exactly. Gross. Listen, that's the name of the game,
so be responsible. I think sometimes people just don't know, they don't know what the etiquette is,
they don't know you're supposed to dig a hole, so they're like, you know, like animals do this,
I'll just do this, but the thing is there's like nine billion people on this planet,
so if everyone's leaving shits in the woods, we're gonna get buried in it. Literally. So
you can't do that. Leave no trace ethics. Look it up. Like don't leave trash and don't leave shits.
What's another thing? Staying on trail in places where there's restoration projects. Yeah.
All right, let's make some breakfast and pack up and hit the road.
All right, about 15 minutes up the dirt road, there is a super cute lake, so we're just gonna
stop there for the day before we say goodbyes. All right, here we go, taking a little hike
Oh, he found a log. Oh, good boy here. That's so funny. Joke.
Just in case I can't find a shower tonight. Yeah. So fresh and so clean, clean.
Look at them hopping out. All right, everybody, the smoke in the air is really starting to get
to us. We're like coughing and it's just not very good, so we are gonna pack up and get back to our
homes. Kayla's gonna go to Portland and I am going to go wherever there is less smoke than here.
Bye, Boa. Love you. We'll see you soon. All right, now we're off to go find a shower. We're probably
gonna go to my favorite public showers in the middle of Sisters, Oregon, conveniently placed
right next to a kid's playground. I find that kind of weird, but that's fine.
And then after that, I'm super excited. We're gonna go meet with my buddy Chad
and go find a place to wild camp for the night.

High five. We're actually gonna use a real knife to actually cut carrots. Not the Nikki method
with her mouth, which I love, but yeah, we're gonna use a real knife.
So you sure you don't want me to have a go?
