Americans have been shouldering the cost of medicines, while the rest of the world has received a discount, according to the White House. And now, the Trump administration says it’s putting an end to the practice. The president’s new executive order is expected to reduce the costs of medications in the United States while causing the costs to rise in other countries. In other news, the Trump administration is now negotiating a trade deal with the Chinese regime. After meetings over the weekend, it was announced that both countries would temporarily lower their tariffs, and that this will last around 90 days while talks continue.
We’ll discuss this topic and others, in this episode of Crossroads.

Americans have allegedly been
shouldering the high cost of medications
for the entire world while most other
countries have gotten a discount. And
now the Trump administration is putting
an end to that practice. President Trump
has signed the most favored nation drug
pricing executive order which plans to
reduce the costs of medications in the
United States by up to 80%. This plan
will require pharmaceutical companies in
the United States to offer the lowest
prices found in other developed
countries for certain high-cost
prescription medications. According to
the executive order, the inflated prices
in the United States fuel global
innovation, while foreign health systems
get a free ride. Americans will no
longer be forced to pay almost three
times more for the exact same medicines,
often made in the exact same factories.
As the largest purchaser of
pharmaceuticals, Americans should get
the best deal. According to a 2024
report from the Department of Health and
Human Services, Americans pay higher
prices for prescription drugs than any
nation in the world, more than anybody.
And now the White House is alleging that
the exact number is actually three times
other comparable countries for the exact
same prescription drugs. And also,
according to Trump, the United States
accounts for more than twothirds of
global pharmaceutical profits. Now,
under this new order, there's going to
be oversight in place to make sure that
other countries are not using unfair
trade practices to undercut market
pricing, a practice that has led to the
extra cost to fall on the backs of
Americans. HHS will also work on new
ways for Americans to buy their
medications directly from the
manufacturers. is going to be based on
most favored nation prices, meaning the
lowest offered to other developed
countries. And that will also help cut
out the middlemen who tend to tack on a
lot of extra costs that are on
medication.
