CAMPING in my SUV | Backcountry Camping

In today's camping adventure, I'm going to make my first solo camping trip in the spring. I may be a little rusty, but I didn't let that stop me from having fun. I took advantage of a new camp inside. I fished a little, cut wood, cooked a good meal, fished a little more and then relaxed near the campfire. For the old Dave, any camping day is good. My first camping trip will be in the spring. Camping in the SUV, I've done this before, I like it a lot, very simple trip, go up there and enjoy it, I know where I'm going. However, the problem is that I was in this area a few weeks ago and there were some floods and, even worse, there was a lot of falling trees. So much so that I couldn't get where I wanted. So, if that's the case, I'll have to think about something else. So, the plan is to camp in the SUV. If I can't camp in the SUV, okay. I brought my things to make a little camp with my network. So, I'm going to camp in a network and find a place close enough where I want to go and then I'm going to walk somewhere. I hope to find a cool place. So, this is the neighborhood plan. So, plan A, camp in the SUV. Plan B, camp in a network. Anyway, I'm going to love it because I'll be in the desert, in the forest, on my first trip. The weather looks good. A little cold at night, but that's okay, I'll be fine. So, wish me luck. The roads so far look decent. And I hope that when I get a little closer, the roads are good. If not, hey, I'll find a good place to park the car and follow my path for a walk. So, wish me luck. I could probably get around. But why not go to the next person? Anyway, a little of this has happened, but it wasn't that bad. Let's see as we get closer to our place. All right, let's go. Not bad. I got it. The place is pretty cool. I'll show you real quick. Nothing spectacular. I think the water level is pretty high because I think there are more areas to fish. So it's going to be a little complicated. But other than that, I think everything will be fine. So, it's about 2 and a half in the morning now. So I have plenty of time. So, I can do some things. I can unload the SUV and leave everything ready for me to be perfectly prepared and do the right thing. I can do all my camping tasks now. I can do this now or I can go fishing. That's right. Let's fish. That was easy. Absolutely. No luck. Okay. So, the fishing didn't go exactly as planned. I didn't catch anything. No bait, nothing. I'll say it's still the beginning of the season. The water is still very cold. After all, it's still spring, the beginning of spring. And, to be honest, there aren't many species. So, yes, fishing won't be good. There aren't many species you can fish now. So, it won't be good. Let's blame that and not the fact that I'm a terrible fisherman. I don't care about that. But it's good to have a little fun when you get to the camp. But now I have work to do. I have to go get firewood. There's a lot around here. I just need to go look for a little and then chop, leave everything ready. I always take my electric saw and I have a stick for it here. And this year I decided to buy a handle for it. It's just a simple handle. You can buy it in any store. It's something I can put on my shoulder to be able to carry when I'm in the forest looking for good firewood. It's easy for me like this. I don't need to drop the stick and lose the stick or something like that because I forgot the leaf in certain places. Sometimes even the saw. See, I know it's bad. But anyway, with that, I hope I can always have it with me so I don't lose it. I also have a new ax that's right there and I can't wait to distribute it and try it. So, let's work. I think there are many options here. So, get to work. I'm going to fish a little again and then we'll light the fire and I'll prepare the car. Sometimes you need to rest from the laziness of nature. Wow, it's never easy to collect wood. I need to go back to shape for many things, but especially for wood. All right, all right. Come on. So, I decided to order the hamburgers today. Let's try them. Very good. I managed to put out the fire in the embers this time. I'm getting better. Patience is not one of my priorities, so sometimes it's a little complicated, but it's very good. I always suggest going to the butcher, right? Ask them what the dish of the day is or what you want to order. Ask them. Sometimes I go there and say, surprise me. And they surprised me with a very spicy sausage last time. I didn't let that happen this time. Yes, they try to catch you. But anyway, I think this will be good. I'm going to fish a little more after eating. And I can explore a little. Let's see. Nice place. I didn't have a chance to explore. The fishing hasn't been very good, unfortunately. But what are you going to do? I still need to get the car ready. But since there's no beer, all I need to do is get my stuff ready. So, it's not that bad. Overall, it was a simple and pleasant trip. It was something I needed. I'm going to enjoy this campfire later. Right. So, I need to get ready. I took almost everything out of the car. This is a car that the family uses every day. I take it to work. I take the kids to hockey. I take the kids to school. Whatever you want. We have two cars at home and this is one of them. We need it to be a normal car. Although I would love it to be a camp car, we haven't gotten there yet. So, I don't think I'll make it. So, this car has to come back after I finish this trip. It has to go back to normal. So, I have the seats lowered. I have a carpet or furniture carpet down here. A blanket, I think. So, I'm going to put my things on top. And that's it. No exaggeration. I have all my things here now. I'll bring some back for tonight when I get ready to sleep. But that's it. No exaggeration. Very, very basic. I have an air mattress, a sleeping bag. That's it. Pillow, I have to have a pillow. I'll leave the sleeping bag to fluff a little. And, of course, I have my canine patrol pillow, which I stole from my son. Don't tell him, it's our little secret. Okay, I've been stealing from him for a long time. Other than that, I think we're fine. I'll have to bring some more things here. Yes, I think we're fine. Let's light the fire again and we should be ready. Here we go. Oh, right. So it's all packed, ready to spend the night. I just need to go to bed. Actually, I change clothes and go to bed. I always change clothes before I go to bed. But, uh, this fire is good. I have enough firewood to keep it lit tonight and start a little in the morning, if necessary. But I think it's good. I think I'll go to bed a little earlier. It's weird, I'm camping in a car, so I didn't have to set up a shed or a tent or anything. But, uh, it's my first trip of the year, so it took some time to get used to it. And being a different place here, you know, it takes some time to get used to it. The fishing wasn't good. I fished a little again and it didn't work out very well. But that's okay, maybe I'll try to fish a little more tomorrow. I don't know how I'm going to sleep, the birds are going crazy, listen. So, I caught the birds, the birds, maybe the squirrels. There's a lot of noise here. So, I don't know what's going to happen, but you know one thing, whatever. I'm sleeping in the car, so this should block me a little. And I'm very tired, so I hope I can sleep soon. But, the night is beautiful, the sun is setting, the sky is beautiful. I don't know if there will be stars, the moon is kind of showing up. It's kind of beautiful, a little more than a rising moon, but, in general, it's very beautiful. Ah, the camping season has begun, I'm so excited. I really want to go out more this year. Of course, I mentioned before that I love camping in the fall. And that's something I love to do. Last year, I didn't have the opportunity. I was very busy with work, family and everything else. Which is great, no problem. But I love camping in the fall. Of course, my favorite camp is with the kids. Don't tell them that, of course, but it's with the kids. I love to take them camping and see them enjoy what I like here. The beautiful nature, the animals, the frogs, everything, the sounds, the peace and tranquility of being in the forest. I think it's very important that young people enjoy it. And being in Canada, are you kidding me? It's the perfect place for that. And I hope my children take my love for life outdoors and continue with it. Whether they have children or not, show them the love for life outdoors. Because I think it's something that many people don't value. I know, as I said before, I grew up living in the city. But I love to go out and be outdoors. Whether camping in a canoe, backpacking, bikepacking, camping in your SUV, anything. As long as you go out, I'm loving it. So, this is a little different trip for me. But it's okay. From time to time, I do these things. I think it can be one of the new traditions. Like, my first trip of the season can be a car camp. And my last trip can be in the fall. With all the leaves falling and things changing color. I think it's something I'll consider. So, yes. All right, I'll take advantage of it. And, uh, I didn't bring any snacks. Sad day, but I'll take advantage of it. And then I have to put a little more on the fire and wait until it gets a little dark and then go to bed. So, a little colder than they said it would be. No rain or anything, so it was good. My setup was pretty decent. Actually, the mattress was good. It wasn't the most comfortable, but it was pretty decent. And the sleeping bag was very good. It kept me warm, so there was no problem. Anything outside the sleeping bag was kind of cold, but overall it was pretty good. So, it was very quiet and very isolated in there. So, this is very good. Tomorrow here is excited. Everything is radiant with life this morning. Lots of noise, lots of birds and animals singing. Everything is happening in the morning here. So, this is great. So, spring has definitely arrived and life is growing in the forest. So, this is good. So, let's get started. I'm going to have a coffee and eat some oats. I don't know if I'm going to light the fire. Let's see. I have my gas stove. Maybe I'll do that. But the plan is to fish and take a walk around here. There are some trails that I think are good. Let's see. But, anyway, let's get started. It wasn't easy. Wow. My old body. So, as I said, let's simplify. Today, I'm going to try this Farm Boy oats. I've never tried it before. Most of the things I buy at Farm Boy are very good. So, I hope this is also good. It says here that just add water. Stir, it's ready. Let's see. Let's leave this for the coffee. I'm simplifying. Well, not so simple. We are not making instant coffee. But there is one of these things here for my normal coffee that I've tried before. They work very well. They are a little complicated, but in general, they are not so bad. This may take a while to happen. Let's talk a little about it. So, they are super useful. Actually, I don't really like them. Especially when you're camping indoors, if you're filming something. I think they're kind of ugly. This is very good. It's obviously well done. It's welded. So, I buy to clean fish, all these things. This thing is amazing. They would do a great job. But to camp indoors, I like to stay more in the field, in the middle of the bush, and I don't really like these things. So, if I can, I try to avoid places with them. Many campsites indoors don't have them, which is great. When you're camping in Land of the Crown, it depends. It's a hit or miss, just like anything else in Crawlland, right? But I understand. I understand how useful they are. So, I understand. I will never damage them. I know some people who disassemble them. But, yes, I won't do that. Someone put them. I'll leave them. Yes, I understand why they are useful. Because it's very useful when you go to a place, a campsite indoors, that has something for, you know, if you're cleaning the dishes. That's good. Or just keep some things, right? I mean, it's very useful. So, yes. Okay, I'm ready. I packed my things. I checked the camp twice. There was nothing left. Everything looks good and beautiful for the next people. By the way, I left some wood for them too. So, everything is fine. It was a very decent place. I'm very grateful to have it. I think I would have preferred to camp on a canoe, of course. But you know what? It was a good test for my first trip. And it's always fun to camp a little in your car. The old Santa Fe never let me go there, so that's good.
