A very warm welcome back to your latest industry recap. Emirates has confirmed a record profit.
There's news on Airbus deliveries and A330neos to be parked temporarily. I want to begin with
Airbus who experienced a slower month in April after a highly successful March with its latest
deliveries and orders being published. The planemaker delivered 56 aircraft during April.
This represented a drop of 8% from March but still all things considered a healthier figure
than in the first two months of 2025. The latest figure means they've hit 192 commercial plane
deliveries for the first four months representing certainly the effects that are being felt
on the supply chain with turbulence throughout the business. Airbus' figure of 2025 so far
is also a 5% reduction from the same point it was at one year prior. Furthermore, the planemaker at
the beginning of the year actually increased its target for end of year deliveries and while it
does believe things will smoothen out in due course it still faces a bit of an uphill battle to
actually achieve its targets. That target I speak of is 820 commercial airplane deliveries that it
wants to hit by the end of this year. Despite many hurdles as early as two weeks ago the company
confirmed that it was still aiming to hit this target in the next couple of weeks. This guidance
could change and or months but they're sticking pretty firm. Ultimately a slow start to 2025 has
put greater pressure on Airbus to hit this figure and many onlookers still believe the 820 may be a
little bit too steep. For reference Airbus has been unable to hit its initially forecast delivery
figure for many years now consecutively due to the hurdles it faces but this hasn't stopped them from
at the very least remaining optimistic and you feel this is the least they can do. 2025 was at
the very least earmarked as another year where improvements would be felt however it became
quickly apparent that while stability can be achieved in due course consistent challenges
are going to continue impacting the planemaker's business. Notably struggles have stemmed from
supply chain constraints around key elements such as fuselage parts which have not been delivered
on time and therefore thrown off production timelines. With timelines thrown out the window
Airbus has struggled to maintain delivery targets with its airline customers across
all its commercial airplane divisions. Airbus also feels pressure from engine manufacturers
who have been entangled in a crisis of their own mainly since the COVID-19 pandemic which has
affected a large portion of the next generation active global fleet but equally is playing a role
in emerging units too. In some instances planes may be ready for delivery but the inability to
acquire those all-important engines on time throws off test flights and eventual handoff
timeframes to customers leading to frustrations and while I speak about engines, fuselages and
so forth it can stretch as far as cabin seats which need to be obviously installed for a plane
to be shipped out to its end customer even that has facing some form of delay. Over to the next
story and Air Cailin is pausing flights with its next generation A330neo as scheduled maintenance
is being conducted and therefore the grounding of the jets will occur on a temporary basis.
The New Caledonian Company confirmed that work will be conducted on its two A330neo jets which
it took in reality delivery of all not that long ago however Air Cailin is more than aware of the
importance that this plane has on its fleet and is certainly moving forward with great emphasis
on launching new routes therefore it's being very careful about the maintenance work it needs to
conduct. Air Cailin confirms that while it will temporarily pause flying with certain A330neo jets
it plans to do this through a staggered approach this means that one unit should remain in the
airline's operation while the other one is out parked. Moreover to maintain its flight schedule
it'll partner with Hi Fly to take on an Airbus A330-200 and continue operating during the peak
summer season commencing July 1 and concluding on September 7. As confirmed by the carrier the
drafted A330 will operate across the airline's international network including Singapore, Sydney
and Papiti. Meanwhile crews will try to present a familiar experience throughout the cabin classes
on what is at the end of the day a Hi Fly older gen A330-200. As for the work being conducted
on Air Cailin's A330neos well it centers around a very typical sea check occurring when a new
plane is delivered to an airline and usually after two years comes in for routine maintenance.
The program ensures that Air Cailin has a fit and working aircraft that can continue flying until
their next important scheduled maintenance and it also means that they are complying with regulations
right around the world. Their fleet is very modest at the end of the day they have four planes to
their name and three of which are listed as active at the time of recording this video.
The A330neo is really the bulk load of its operation yes it has some A320neos but if we're
talking high capacity international services the reliance is on those A330neo jets it is why
this maintenance is probably being heightened a little bit considering it's affecting its entire
fleet pretty much business-wide and we know that Air Cailin needs these in terms of achieving those
long-haul flights connecting New Caledonia to the world. Over to the final story and that is
Emirates who have published their 2024-2025 annual report which unsurprisingly showcases a record
profit and some more massive improvements across the board. The Dubai-based group confirms that its
record performance places it in an elite category among some of the most profitable aviation groups
for the period highlighted before. Its best results in history show that it is on the right path.
Underlying its fantastic performance was Emirates publishing a before-tax profit of USD5.8 billion
this is up 20% from the year prior and shows that strong investments are paying off alongside a
robust operation that is proving to be a winner for them. Record revenues were also reported to
have a 6% rise to USD39.6 billion. Revenues have really been a dramatic riser right across the
aviation industry especially focusing in on your major international airlines.
However, managing this has proved maybe the more difficult part as expenses have also risen and
airlines have had to find ways to really find a perfect in-between. Some have struggled some
have excelled. Emirates' total passenger and cargo capacity was also impressive with a 4%
growth taking it to 60 billion ATKMs recovering to not just near pre-pandemic levels but
remembering this also included its cargo division. There were some other noteworthy performances I'd
like to take a look at including the expansion of its international network with several markets
either welcoming the carrier for the first time or services that were previously part of the route
returning after a lengthy hiatus still trying to rebuild that pre-pandemic network.
Emirates confirmed that by the 31st of March 2025 it had a network including 148 cities across a
staggering 80 countries and territories. This is colossal for Emirates which primarily again
focuses on long-haul flying so therefore having 80 countries covered highlights its massive global
reach. However, for the company it extends just beyond that partnerships have formed an integral
part of their business beyond really its original route map with 33 codeshare partnerships existing
with 118 interline partners it means it extends access to 1,750 plus cities beyond just the 148.
The addition of the A350 did certainly mark a transition for the airline as it continues
moving towards some of your new gen planes and focuses on operating more flexible planes that
can fly towards more destinations. While Emirates has experienced delays in acquiring next generation
planes such as the 350 it is still progressing with renewal efforts and that renewal exists
just beyond the requirement for new planes but also a ongoing retrofit process. The company
confirmed that 99 planes were added to the retrofit program and now that means close to 220 jets
across the 777 and A350 fleet will be getting the substantial upgrades that Emirates feels
they deserve in a bid to really elevate the customer flying experience.
Thank you very much for your support here on the channel it means a lot. Feel free to drop
