A Creepy Night at Mansion Impossible: Canada’s Largest Abandoned Mansion – The Peter Grant Estate
On the very night we arrived in Haileybury, Ontario, we met up with Texas-based Chris Fischer and his film crew for a chilling late-night exploration of the legendary Peter Grant Mansion—Canada’s largest abandoned home.
This mansion, long a favourite among urban explorers, is now under new ownership! Chris Fischer has officially purchased the iconic estate and is launching a massive restoration project called Mansion Impossible—and it all started with videos from myself and @RiddimRyder, which inspired Chris to bring this place back to life.
Chris invited us, along with @Carlopaolozzayt and @moesargi, for an exclusive weekend to kick off the Mansion Impossible YouTube series. What better way to begin than with a pitch-black walkthrough of one of Canada’s most infamous abandoned homes?
This video captures that first eerie night—our flashlights barely cutting through the darkness, the mansion echoing with decades of silence. We returned the next day to fully explore it in daylight, so don’t miss the companion video below.
🔥 Be sure to check out the Mansion Impossible channel and subscribe to follow Chris’s journey as he transforms this abandoned giant into something incredible: https://youtu.be/QkCeOCa2Xyw @MansionImpossible

All right. What's up, guys? Very special
freak photography abandoned adventure.
Today we are at the Peter Grant Mansion.
The largest abandoned mansion in all of
Canada. $25 million, $65,000 square
feet. Maybe we can light it up. And you
can see it behind me
here. Maybe not. There it is. We are
here with Rhythm Rider. Oh yeah. Right
there we got Mo Sargi, Carlo Palosa, and
a very special guest. One second, guys.
We're gonna show
you the guy who bought the Peter Grant
mansion, Chris Fisher, right there. All
the way from Texas up here enjoying the
cold, man. Joining the cold. We got a
special invite from Chris Fisher to come
check out the mansion together. We're
here at night. Chris has not been here
for 6 months, right? Yeah.
Chris has no idea what he's in for when
we get inside. How much vandalism, how
much more graffiti. He hasn't been here.
So, we're going to go inside and have a
first look at how it how it looks, what
kind of damage has been done. Then,
we're going to come back tomorrow and do
a daytime visit. So, thanks Mr. Chris
Fisher right here, Carlo Pelosa right
behind me, Rhythm Rider, Mo Sarzi,
Fretography, cue the music, cue the
intro. See you guys inside.
[Music]
There's a chance I might key and go and
get
my All right, Carlo is in right in my
way. I love it when he does that.
You be seat, please. Whatever you do,
fall.
Chris, can we get ahead of you?
Here we go, guys. It's icy.
Wow. Oh, man.
This is crazy. Oh, look at this. Look at
this glass. Holy crap.
Yeah.
And it's thick bulletproof glass window.
Oh, this is what you were saying was
around the whole mansion before. Yeah.
It's all shot and busted out. Yeah. It's
insane. Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm so glad we bought these things. Yes.
Hey, look. I peed here.
This is crazy. It's been 5 years. Yeah.
Yeah. And look at this. Like everything
is just so [ __ ] in place. This is
these are window.
I can't believe this.
[Music]
Yeah.
Yeah. So, this here used to be glass,
guys.
Bulletproof
glass shattered. Now it's just got
plastic covering it.
UBC. Look at this wall behind you here.
There's a bunch of pictures of you on
the wall.
It's like the theory of evolution of
Carlo.
I think it's kind of it's really bad.
It's disrespectful, kind of hurtful. So,
I mean, if I was him,
look at all the ice, guys. Look at this.
This is the good part. So, this is the
good part. Oh my god. Wow.
I would say like this is definitely
that's wild.
Yeah. Got the elevator here.
[Applause]
Man, what a
difference. My favorite part with the
elevator is that the guy that snuck in
with bright sun guy. Yeah. He comes over
here.
Wow, guys. This here, all of these
panels here were glass. That really
thick
glass. and has just been shattered.
Wow.
This would have been a gas fireplace
here.
Wonder if this door will
open. No, I don't think it's No, that's
not going to open. I think it's probably
frozen shut anyways.
John.
This is This might open.
That's a fireplace. That's a fireplace.
Yeah. I have never seen a fireplace.
Yeah. The door frozen frozen shut. Well,
at least they didn't break the marble or
the stone. Yeah. There's a lot of stuff.
Yeah.
This fireplace is these fire big.
So hot air.
And there's one here. There's one
downstairs. Wow. Just massive. I mean, I
don't know. I
mean, that's huge. I'm guessing it was
all gas, right? Yeah, it's definitely a
custom. I mean, you don't find this on
the market. Yeah. I've been to a million
mansions and houses and I've never seen
anything like this. This is grand.
This will be much nicer tomorrow when
we're here in the daytime cuz from here
you can see outside and there's a lake
outside here that we'll be able to see
hopefully unless it's it looks like it's
actually broken on the other side of the
glass the other panel. So you got one
panel here, you got another panel on the
outside. This one's okay, but the
outside panel is actually shattered.
Yeah.
UVC.
Hey,
I was told my name's written on
somewhere or no.
Um, you know what? I think you're right.
I think it is. I I think I've seen it,
but I don't know where, though. If If
this was the place, it might have been
downstairs. I think I know what you're
talking about. I was told then. I kind
of want to see it. Yeah. If I see it,
I'll let you know. I I remember that
actually. Not the 19.
Huh?
Okay. Okay,
guys. So, again, I'll show you guys the
the floor is completely frozen. And so
we brought spikes to put on the bottom
of our boots so that we don't fall and
slip. There's the huge
door. And then you got this little
tunnel area here or the little bridge
that goes across. Underneath this bridge
is actually the
waterfall. So here's another huge panel
of the broken glass.
Like you know how much effort it must
take to break this
glass. So every thing you hear on my
feet is actually the spikes breaking
through the ice.
Okay. So, this side of the building, so
this side that we just were on is the
living quarters and then this side is
more the offices. This was going to be
the corporate offices for Peter Grant's
company.
And then here when we go downstairs,
these stairs go down to the pool. There
would be a pool down there, and we'll
see that when we get
downstairs. It's pretty cool being here
at
night, but you'll get a whole different
feel for it when I do the daytime video.
There's another elevator right
there. Look at the
floor. So, yeah, this one's supposed to
be the main entrance right
here to the uh to the corporate
headquarters side, which is where we are
right now.
Oh, this is the big garage right here.
So, in this garage at one point there
was a massive
generator and someone stole it. And I
believe Chris has tracked down who stole
it and he's in the process of getting it
back. But someone would have had to back
up a huge truck and probably bring along
multiple very strong guys to lift up
this
freaking generator. I'll see if I can
find a picture of it and include it in
the video and show you guys how big that
thing was.
What's up, guys? Freom Ryder back again.
Another epic adventure.
These things are really great. Oh,
they're so I'm so glad we got these. I
don't like the sound they make. So, but
we'd be slipping around like crazy.
I was going to say, I wonder what is
being protected by this plywood. It's
marble flooring under here. Oh, this is
marble flooring. Take that plywood off.
Marble flooring under. Oh, okay. Right
there. You kind of see.
Oh, okay. So, that's what's under there.
Okay. That off your floor. So, yeah. I
think you said the flooring was $2.2
million. Wow. Just on that half of the
house. Nothing over. So, so what you're
seeing here, guys, is marble flooring
and the plywood here is supposed to be
protecting it.
It's pretty bad. A lot of difference.
Oh, yeah. All this green writing, too.
That's new. Yeah. The green neon, orange
neon. That one here, it's all over the
house. Wow. There is a guy. What's his
name? Uh, we're gonna find graffiti the
hell. We're going to find him and his
girlfriend.
Oh, Chris, I meant to ask you, did you
did you get the generator back? No, we
the police know where it's at. Everybody
knows where it's at. It's kind of them
situations where you wait on them to do
something, right? Right. Oh, man. Back
in Texas, we would have got it. Yeah. No
doubt. Right. We would had it.
So, I haven't mentioned this yet, guys,
but Chris has his own YouTube channel
called Mansion Impossible, and I'm going
to definitely link that down below so
you guys can follow along with the
progress of what Chris is doing here. As
of today, he's got three videos and
they're getting some pretty good views.
So, if you guys want to keep up with
Chris and what he's doing with this
place, hit the link down below for
Mansion Impossible. Make sure you
subscribe, watch the videos that they've
got uploaded so far, and then stay tuned
for all the videos that he posts in the
coming weeks and months as he develops
and builds upon and fixes this huge old
unfinished abandoned
mansion. This is beautiful right here.
So, here you've got a balcony up there
and you've got you would have had
beautiful natural light. So, the windows
right there and you got big windows up
there and just a huge beautiful balcony
up there. This would have been a really
nice part of the building.
So, Chris was saying that the the
flooring is all I don't know about this
side, but over there it's all marble
flooring. Marble flooring. Yeah. Yeah.
Oh, wow.
Here's the main staircase, guys. The
main sort of spiral staircase that goes
all the way to the top floor. You want
to go up? Yeah. Yeah. A bonfire here.
Yeah. I'm going to go up. Nice.
Staircase.
Yeah. It's nice, eh? Main staircase. The
main staircase. Yeah. Yeah. Goes from
the basement where the pool is. Is it
unfinished? Yeah. Yeah. Cuz it's kind of
like industrial looking, right? Yeah.
Yeah. I
guess the ventilation's art. I mean,
making curved stuff like this. Uhhuh.
And you see it everywhere. I mean, that
is up there. And that's why people say,
you know, why am I not really upset? I
said, cuz that stuff's still good. I
mean, that's the hard part. I mean,
that's really the, you know, there's
stuff on the ground, the wood that be
tossed and redone. And we were redone it
anyhow. It kind of does. Yeah. You going
to say it's a blessing because we would
have to pull these walls off anyhow cuz
we want to insulate, make them more
efficient. I don't think Peter Grant
really gave a [ __ ] about his heating
bill.
We need to
God, I would be slipping all over the
place in here if I didn't have these
things on my shoes.
[Applause]
All this water. Black mold.
I think the original video.
Got to be careful, guys. It's slippery.
Go see the pool.
Yeah, they're a huge
help. All right. It's actually pretty
dry down here.
Surprising how dry it
is. It's probably where the change
rooms. And then here's the pool right
here.
[Laughter]
Just some water in the pool. Bit of a
skating rink.
This here is probably would have been a
hot tub right here.
I'll tell you guys, one of the things
that broke my heart the most the first
time I was here was this
wall. And all of the walls down here
have this this sort of brick stonework.
And I think about the guys who spent so
many
hours in this house putting up this
brick and this
stonework and it never got finished and
how much time and effort they would have
put in, how many days it would have
taken to do this.
Anyways, broke my heart thinking about
those poor guys. So, I really really
hope that with the work that Chris is
Chris does that the work that the men
and women that built this place put into
it that their work is finally able to be
appreciated. Cuz this was probably no
easy
job. And it probably didn't take
probably took a very long time to do
this.
Okay, guys. We're going to take the
staircase now. We're going to go all the
way to the top and then we'll work our
way down from the B from the top. Okay,
now we're in the basement.
I think the very very top is sealed up.
Oh, really? Yeah. [ __ ] I was going to
ask you first cuz I could I went to the
top and it looked like there was you
couldn't pop anything open. It could
also be frozen. Well, I didn't see
anything that was open. Oh, okay. All
right. How's the staircase going? It's
slippery. It's very slippery.
I didn't see anything. It looked like
you open. Oh, okay. If you find if you
can open it. Yeah. I'll let you know.
You should have got those little.
So this
here I think this is supposed to be
window right
here. Super lots of like natural light
up here.
Okay, so now we're up on the second
floor here. I'll show
you. This will be so much better in the
day.
Oh, it's a skating rink up here. Wow.
Yeah. So, this here would be nice. Lots
of not lots of natural light coming
through
there. Look at this, guys. It's just
like an inch at least thick.
It is cold in here,
guys. Huge thanks to Chris for the
invitation to come here. Get to meet him
in person. Spend some time with him.
We'll be here with him all day tomorrow
with his family, his wife, and his kids,
learning all about what they think and
their experience here for the first
time. Kids have never been here. So,
this will be really cool to get the
kids' perspective on what it's like to
be here, what they think about their dad
buying this
place. So, this side of the building was
going to be off offices and like a
showroom for the particle board products
that Peter Grant was selling. So his his
uh his
company invented some kind of uh
particle board for
construction and this would have been
the
showroom. And what happened was sometime
around
2008 when the housing market crashed in
the US and the banks were all getting um
or the all the the automotive companies
were getting buyouts from the
government. housing market crashed, real
estate market crashed, stock market
crashed. Well, so did Peter Grant's
business, and he was forced into
bankruptcy because nobody was buying his
particle board product anymore. And uh
he ended up having to sell give this uh
property to the
bank because as far as from as far as I
know, he was no longer able to continue
on with this project. So that's what I
know to be true.
So where we are now would have been a
corporate headquarters and a showroom
for his
products. There are so many penises on
the wall. Everywhere you look, there are
penises on the wall.
Okay, let's head back to the stairs. Oh,
here they are. Right there. Stairs.
Okay, we can't Jamie's Rhythm Rider said
we can't get up any higher from here,
but let's have a look. Anyways, this up
here is where I slept. The last time I
was here in
2023, I slept up here. This is like the
attic,
but this here is supposed to be able to
push up, but it looks like it's actually
been built and you can't push it up
anymore. It doesn't have anything to
push, so we can't get up here anymore.
That's too bad. Unless I can squeak
through there
somehow. So, there's a look all the way
down the stairs to the very bottom
floor. So, we're at the very top right
now. There is an attic space above us
that we can't get to, but that there
would be the staircase going all the way
down.
[Music]
You ask for it
[Music]
sometime everybody
want to go for a dip.
[Laughter]
Want to go for a swim. That is cool.
That is really cool. Yeah. Yeah.
Shooting up. Can you imagine if there
was a body frozen under there or
something? Probably this area. Yeah. I'm
thinking there's got to be something
[Music]
you.
Yes. Okay, guys. We're going to check
out the boat house now.
I've never seen those this big. They're
massive.
[Laughter]
What's really been cool is a lot of
people did this stuff or the work here
have reached out to us. Nice. That's
good. That's good.
This is what I was talking about when I
talked to you about all the time that
went in to building this. The poor guys
that guys and girls that stood here for
hours and hours and hours and put this
work together for nothing, you know. And
I think it's awesome now that you're
doing this that this kind of work will
finally be appreciated. Talking to Dave
the other day, the last time we were
here, a lady asked if she could come
down here cuz she washed every one of
these bricks. That was her job. That's
crazy. Train station bring them in and
she washed every single rehiring some of
the same companies that worked on this
place. I think
way it's kind of cool. I think certain
people Yes. Certain people I think took
feeder to the cleaner. Yeah, I mean I
think they saw as an open book and you
know I look at my dad and I see laying
around overcharged, you know, 15 20
grand and I think they just paid it.
They didn't question anybody and uh so
it's kind of a fun. I think there's some
great craftsmanship if I want in but
there's some people probably
[Music]
knowion Chris just said that Peter Grant
when he stopped working on this and he's
at $73 million.
There's some documents from when it was
actually getting construction documents
from 2002. Oh yeah. Yeah. back from when
it was getting worked on. 2000. Yeah.
2002. Wow. Haley Bar construction site.
Oh, wow. And it's got the grand name.
Grand name. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty cool.
It's pretty cool. Yeah.
[Music]
Chris said this
[Music]
entire floor.
All right. We're going to head
downstairs now.
I haven't seen where your name is yet.
I've been looking. You know what? I'm
[Music]
asking downstairs. Okay. He might.
[Music]
That's crazy.
Stealing my stealing my idea.
You got a good spot.
[Music]
[Applause]
[Laughter]
Even with these things on
theater all marble these are all like
stone
together movie theater. Yeah theater
that's what this would have been from
the ocean. Get out. So these are from
the ocean. Yeah. That's super cool. And
the movie theater in here. Okay. I would
have flex that is. Hey, I got Yeah, I
would have never guessed that with this
one. He's got two of them in here. Wow,
that's flex. You got two of them. See, I
thought this was going to be like a
utility room. I thought that this was
some sort of like I thought it was a
bar. See, this is what happens when you
break into places.
You make stupid assumptions.
Researching all this stuff and learning
because I bring you guys back saying
Peter's a big architect and we found his
book. So there was about well over
millions of dollars of art. It's going
to go in not just building outside. Wow.
We found a book of all that art. So we
got that. So this has been kind of a
treasure, huh? Finding the history. So
good thing the art never came in cuz the
locals Oh
god. Main living room area. Main living
room area. Check. Let's go.
some kind of OSVR. I don't know what it
is. It's pretty cool. They probably have
some metal laying around. All right.
Make
some If you move something supposed to
change, I guess if you walk, something
would change or whatever you're looking
at.
Some kind of art going on here, guys.
Different depths. Yeah. Oh, you know
what it says? It says abandon.
Yeah, they're all different depths. face
up. It does kind of look like over here
there's some dark. The thing is they
probably had different shades before the
rust took over. Yeah, but that's all
little pieces of wood. Yeah. Oh, that's
not metal. It's all his sandwich. Oh, I
thought that was made. I thought that
was metal. No, little piece of wood.
Huh? Oh, no way. I thought that was
metal. Never mind that. So, you are done
with that. We're cut pieces, put them
back in. Are you keeping that? I don't
know. I'm save. I would say that based
on the the artwork I've seen in the
house so far, if you look at this and
you squint your eyes, it's a great big
penis.
You guys were like, "What's he going to
say?"
[Laughter]
Look over here on this wall. there. Yep.
So, it's supposed to be like a 30 foot
prehistoric shark. It's supposed to go
up there for it. Like I said, that's
art, you know, you'll never know. Wow.
That was supposed to be You see the bolt
brackets for that? Is a beautiful shark.
Like an actual like a prehistoric. He
would have had a prehistoric shark.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Put it right in there
up on the wall. Put a picture of Carlo
in
a mermaid. Carlo
picture. Oh, we got another fireplace.
You got two big ones like this.
Well, on camera, this actually doesn't
look that big. Carlo, those beside that.
I want to show you for scale.
Carlo for scale. The penis for scale.
discretion.
[Laughter]
Don't just go to show you guys how big
the car is.
[Applause]
You're a mess, Carl. Look, you
got
[Music]
fireplace. Yeah.
Oh, it's a raccoon. Yeah. All right.
Got a ra We got a raccoon sleeping back
here, guys. So, we got cameras on site
and every night at like 9:00 like
clockwork. You go. The raccoon's coming
in here.
Quite make it out of here. Let's call
him Dirty Mike.
Hey, Dirty Mike. Where are you?
So, what happened here? This is a cigar
room over here. Cigar room. Okay. Yeah.
Yeah.
Holy crap.
What a mess.
Funny. I've only ever seen crates like
this in the movies.
I'm not even sure what came in those
things.
raccoon.
She's in here somewhere. Look at all
this glass. Hey. Wow.
That is crazy. Everybody is worth lots
of money. Come take it. Yeah. Yeah.
And actually sell them off. It's like a
puzzle. You could just piece them all
back together, right?
Glass. Each glass would have four of
these together. Have two together and
then another space and then two. So four
pieces of that are each window. That's
nuts. Really? Holy moly. Oh, look at the
baby fire. This one is
[Laughter]
probably not that big. This one's like a
10 foot problem. The other
one is pretty big. Lie down.
I
don't need to do it.
Oh, there's a swim truck. You're going
to Oh, there's your swim. Your swimsuit
going. The calling is going to go
swimming. You said you were going to go
in the lake. There you go, buddy. Maybe
I'll wake up a little warm.
Yeah, he said
[Music]
it. here, wasn't there? No. I thought
there was an elevator over here.
Oh, what is all this?
Everything's stripped. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Damn.
Back here. Wow. What a big electrical
room. And look at all the [ __ ] Oh,
wow. This is crazy. I don't think I was
ever in this room. I know.
All this pipe. Yeah. Doesn't know what
it does, where it where it goes, or what
it does. You just have to figure it out.
Yeah. I never went down here either.
Oh, you know what? The boat house is
stair somewhere.
Holy. Look at this. This Oh, this is the
other uh all the heating stuff. Yeah.
[Music]
[Applause]
All right, guys. We got Carlo coming
down the stairs. He's going to fall.
He's going to fall, guys. Fall. Fall.
Fall.
This is it, guys. Here's the boat house.
Oh, how did I ever find it before? I
guess I did. This is how I came in my
first time. Really? Yeah. I came in the
the far door over there.
Boat house. This is So, from what I've
been told, and I think Chris said this,
this was actually all that was supposed
to be here originally was this big boat
house to to house his 65 foot yacht. And
then they ended up building on it and
making this whole house. And they
actually had to take rock. They had to
blow blast the rock. You did all the
rock. Yeah. I never got up there either.
Or was that just a window? Oh, that's
just the window from the stairs. Yeah.
Yeah. You came through. Yeah. Was that
open back there? No, that's how I the
No, the that was closed, but that door
was open. That's how I got in there the
first time. Okay. But there was more
water in here.
Yeah.
This a big ass boat, man.
System
here. electric up the waves.
Yeah. Can you see the rhythm?
But you can see the whole thing like
little like looks like little kind of
like Yeah. Yeah. Like a pistons or
something. Not pistons, but it kind of
it'll move as the water's in here. The
dock will raise and lower. Yeah. It
raises and lowers with the water. And
look at all the poo there. That is a lot
of poo right up here. Yeah. Somebody
sitting on the light. Oh, look at that
gnarly looking like washroom on the
Oh, wow.
Wow.
We're backing pretty hard right now,
right?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
This is nuts. I never spent much time in
this room. Neither did I. It's pretty
crazy now that you just sit here and
look at it. Yeah.
Turn you like that one second.
Perfect. Hold on.
Oh no, I got to wipe. Okay guys, that's
enough of this one. We're going to come
back tomorrow and do some more. So stay
tuned. Like I said, Mansion Impossible
on YouTube. Follow Chris is Adventure
with his family, his wife, and his kids
in redeveloping and building and
maintaining and completing the job here.
That's awesome. We got Mosargi. We got
Rhythm Rider. And what's who's the other
guy? Carlo Palosa. He's here too.
Italian. the Italian guy. Links are down
below, but make sure follow Mansion
Impossible. Follow their YouTube channel
for the entire process from start to
finish of wrapping this place up. That's
it, guys. Got to go. See you next time.
Peace.
