I first posted the image of the painting on Instagram,
and people said,
it's a picture, so I just moved on.
My name is Kim Young-sung.
I'm an artist who works with animals to create extreme realism.
Extreme realism is not a difficult thing to say.
It's an art that reproduces the daily life around you.
This is an animal called Giant Day Gecko.
The actual size of this animal was about the size of a pinky when I took a picture.
It was fun to describe each of these skin curves.
I feel like my eyes are going to get dizzy if I draw a skin tone.
It's like the magic eye I saw when I was a kid.
What I think a lot when I draw a picture is that
the colorful colors and the combination of colors they have are art.
These are the ones who like humidity.
I keep taking pictures with fog spray.
I think they're more alive when they're moist.
The downside is that when I take pictures, I use fog spray.
It's a very small drop of water.
There's a downside to having too many of these things.
A lot of people are curious about the process of work.
I plan it in my head.
I'm going to have to draw something that's worth it.
I plan it like this, take a picture with a close-up lens, and draw it on the canvas.
It usually takes about three months to work on one piece.
In big cases, it takes six to ten months.
I hide my signature like that because I'm afraid it'll have a bad effect on the picture.
There are a lot of fun and difficult things when I take pictures.
They're not like puppies.
I've been asked if snails are slow and easy to model.
If you spray water like this, they slide very fast.
In the case of frogs, the most difficult thing is that they jump infinitely.
They jump endlessly.
Unlike other canvas works, this work is expressed as oil painting on stainless steel.
This work is a ready-made, already commercialized material.
Everything is projected like a mirror.
I've planned to make it look like an audience is watching a painting or a different work on the other side.
These are the models I planned and brought.
The concept of this work I'm drawing is a little wild and dramatic.
These are so cute.
Even if I take a picture, they're so cute.
I think I need to do more research.
There are many small animals that we encounter in our daily lives.
Ants, bees, and many other small animals.
It's nice and fun to find them.
On the other hand, I think I'm using it for other purposes, such as food, physiognomy, and experiments.
I think I'm using it for other purposes, such as food, physiognomy, and experiments.
This is one of my early works.
I took it out a while ago and I'm working on it now.
It's a deer bug called Mueller.
It reacts to three things around it like a chameleon.
It's smaller than I thought.
It's been a few years now, so it's very good.
When they were babies, they had a little black light.
But the black dot is gone, and it's completely gold.
My goal is to go one step further in reality than photos, monitors, and television.
I really enjoy it.
I woke up in the morning, went to the gym, and sat in front of the easel.
I listen to exciting music and enjoy it.
And if it's not a work that the artist really enjoys,
It's probably hard to do this for a long time.
