In this video, I'm visiting two different all-you-can-eat restaurants in Tokyo, Japan. The first one is a restaurant run by a sushi academy where they train professional sushi chefs, and the second one is a higher-end restaurant that serves a course meal with refillable sushi. Which one was better? Watch the video and find out!

There are two things that I really love in this world.
One is all-you-can-eat restaurants, and two is sushi.
And today I've come to Tokyo, Japan, to try two different all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants.
One more budget-friendly, and the other might be one of the most expensive all-you-can-eat sushi in Japan.
So how do they compare? I'll show you in this video.
Okay, let's start with the first place that's more affordable.
What's so cool about this place is the fact that it's run by a Japanese sushi academy,
like a school that trains people to become sushi chefs.
And I'm standing in front of the building now. It's supposed to be on the second floor here.
It looks like it's just below $30 a person for two hours of all-you-can-eat sushi.
Let's go find out how good it is.
So it seems that the way you order food is by using your phone.
So let's pull out my new Samsung phone.
I believe I just need to scan this.
And once I scan it, so they have an English offering too, which is great.
And after that, you can just order the food from your phone.
There's a lot of sushi that looks extremely promising.
So you can order up to 10 pieces of sushi at a time, which I just did.
So it seems that there's a self-serving buffet as well. So I'm gonna go see what they have.
Their buffet section wasn't huge, but they had some really nice appetizers.
Tempura here. I love tempura.
So you get this really cute plate on your table.
Let's serve myself some amazing food here.
That's gotta be some good Japanese miso soup.
I don't know if I'm just imagining this, but I feel like their miso soup smells really fantastic too.
They only had a few kinds of appetizers,
but all of them felt extremely clean and well put together.
Not a whole variety, but that looks good.
Guess what's really cool though?
I got my sushi right here.
I haven't put the sushi in my mouth yet,
but for all you can eat, this looks almost too good to be true.
The sushi had a generous size of fish on them,
and the fish looked like they had a good quality.
Just visually speaking, I must say that I'm very satisfied with what I'm seeing.
It's probably the best looking sushi that I've seen in an all-you-can-eat place.
I want to start by trying some of their side menu though.
And I must say, it wasn't like mind-blowing mastercrafted good,
but it was definitely up to the local Japanese standards.
Wow, even that egg was really delicious.
I don't know if these things are traditionally Japanese.
I think they were fried chicken and fried shomai.
They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside,
and they just felt very homemade.
I could really appreciate this pumpkin tempura.
Okay, they didn't fry it just now, just now.
So it's kind of like room temperature, but it's still really crispy.
If you guys want one too.
Let's try their miso soup.
Let's be honest here, no matter where you go,
I don't think I've ever been impressed by miso soup.
That's pretty good miso soup.
That wasn't too far from any miso soup that you can get in any country.
I'm gonna start by having my favorite, this otoro sushi.
Generally speaking, I feel like their rice to sushi ratio is okay.
There's a tad bit of more rice than there's supposed to be, I think.
Okay, I was just being polite.
But regardless of the rice amount, the sushi tasted surprisingly good.
So I understand.
That was really fantastic sushi.
I'm gonna try the salted tuna sushi.
And as expected, this was a really good sushi too.
Although I have to point out again that the rice was a little too much.
Like take a look at this one.
This unagi sushi might be a little disappointing
because look at the eel.
It's almost like a little potato chip.
It's so thin.
I think that's about the only complaint that I have about the sushi though.
At least the fish was good.
It still tastes good.
But I do feel like they're using that all-you-can-eat trick.
You see, otoro like this, these are more expensive cuts of the tuna.
So you don't really see them when you go to an all-you-can-eat place.
I'm really surprised that they have it here.
That's seared salmon.
I think their salmon sushi could have been a little better.
Unlike the others, I felt like the quality of the fish was a little behind.
Some kind of fried fish.
So my first impression after the first 10 pieces.
On some of the sushi, the rice to sushi ratio just didn't feel right to me.
Like there's just a little too much rice.
Understandable, this is all-you-can-eat.
And there's a little bit of inconsistency as far as the quality of the food.
Like I like the otoro far better than the unagi sushi.
This time I'm gonna try to get some other cuts of tuna and see if I can compare them.
There's my second plate of sushi.
This time I got something cool as well.
I got some uni sushi.
Uni sushi is typically very expensive.
So I wonder how good this is going to be.
And I want to say I was in love with it.
But it was just a little fishy.
But fishy or not, I always eat it.
Okay, I'll be honest with you guys.
That was okay uni.
There's the more affordable part of the tuna.
That's akami sushi.
I really like their sea bream though.
How about some ikura sushi, my friends?
I felt like their salmon roll was really good.
A lot of the times they're fishy when you go to a cheaper restaurant.
Their ikura sushi was really good.
Didn't taste fishy or funny at all.
It was just delicious.
I have to say my favorite in the restaurant is their otoro sushi.
So after trying some of their sushi, I realized that they're all pretty good.
But some are far better than the others.
It's not quite like some of the best otoro sushi that I've had before.
Like the type that melts in your mouth.
But it's still very fatty and very tender.
I think it's very good for an all-you-can-eat sushi.
Horse mackerel.
Their horse mackerel was also very good.
But again, maybe a little too much rice.
I think the best strategy here is knowing the ones that they make better.
And the ones you personally like.
And keep getting those sushi.
This is something new.
I'm trying some sardine.
Unless you're very sensitive about the proportionate amount of rice,
some of their sushi is very good for an all-you-can-eat restaurant.
I thought that was pretty good.
Got more ikura.
I also felt like their gunkan maki had much more balanced amount of rice.
So I got them over and over again.
I'm gonna have this tobiko.
I love when I chew this, they pop in your mouth.
I got some snow crab legs as well.
As you guys can probably imagine, I had many many plates of sushi.
And here's what I thought.
It's easy to order, the sushi comes out fast.
And yes, they taste good.
They're using good fish.
But I wish they decreased the rice amount by just a tiny bit.
Even if it means increasing the price for the restaurant.
I think that's enough sushi for me.
Let me go get some desserts before I go.
So these are some of the desserts that they had.
They didn't have a whole lot.
Pretty much just snacks.
But this is a cream puff.
This is like a supermarket cream puff.
But I'm not complaining, I like it.
This is some kind of a rice cake, I think.
It feels kind of like a jelly too.
So it's really interesting.
Inside of this, this is like a clear jelly.
But on the surface, they have this really sweet matcha powder.
I thought that was really good.
They got some roll cakes here.
Their desserts were obviously not handmade here.
But it's all you can eat, so I'm glad they have something.
Of course, this green tea that you can get for free as well.
Unfortunately, other drinks weren't free.
Like, I would have loved to get some Coke.
And with the dessert, I think I've had enough food here.
Alright, so I thought their sushi for all you can eat,
and for what I paid for, it was really good.
If you're not expecting a once-in-a-lifetime sushi experience,
I feel like that place, it'll make you pretty happy.
Now, I've come to Shinjuku to try the second restaurant.
This one's kind of expensive, so it's kind of a shame to enjoy it alone.
So, I've invited my good friend, Mii-chan.
So, this all-you-can-eat restaurant,
And I know you love sushi.
It's in some kind of a business hotel.
I think it's a pretty nice hotel.
So, this is the restaurant.
So, this restaurant was much larger,
and it had this amazing view of the city.
And we're facing towards the window.
That's kind of cool.
So, the way it works is that you get a course meal
with appetizers and 15 different kinds of sushi.
And after you finish the first round of sushi,
you get one chance to reorder anything that you like as much as you want.
So, it's not like you can order as many times as you want.
You get one chance to order again.
I mean, that's not completely free, but that's free enough.
It's not like there's real freedom in this world anyway, right?
I really like the lighting here.
Although, I think because of the glare,
I might have to take off my glasses.
Do you want to try?
Thank you.
Your head is too small.
Her head in real life is like so extra small
that regular-sized glasses doesn't even fit.
For 1,000 yen, about $6.50 in US dollars,
you also get all-you-can-drink soft drinks.
I'll just drink carbonated water.
And here are the appetizers.
So, this is tuna and amberjack sashimi,
some kind of spinach and mushrooms,
eggplants,
and some potatoes.
Even the chopsticks are kind of nice.
So, how good is their sashimi?
Let me try.
That is pretty good.
Pretty good.
I thought their sashimi was okay.
Not like super fresh and delicious,
but I felt like it's from a decent restaurant in Japan.
How is it?
So, we got our tempura here.
Steamed egg?
Oh, wow.
This steamed egg has a bunch of different things in it.
They look like chicken.
This steamed egg is really good.
Very soft and even texture all throughout.
And the shrimp tempura was also very good.
The shrimp was meaty,
and the tempura batter was light and crispy.
And the kisu was very firm and meaty,
very savory too.
Lots of protein.
So soft.
I kind of know what you like though.
You like guys that are kind of emo and depressed,
like sad boys, you know?
Yeah.
That's exactly what she likes.
Any of you guys are watching this,
and you guys are mentally unstable,
and you need lots of help,
PM her.
Send her messages.
Mi-chan, I need your help
Our first piece of sushi was the ikura sushi, the salmon roe sushi
and the way they serve it is quite insane
The waitress asked us to do this chanting with her
I was too shy to do it, but at the same time I was too shy to decline it
Yoisho!
Wow!
Yoisho!
Wow!
It's crazy
Yoisho!
So much
Wow!
Oh my god!
Can I look at that again?
That's a big bucket full of ikura
And I'm going to eat it like this
Huge piece
And let me tell you, it wasn't just about the huge portion
The salmon roe was actually really good
Wow
When you get it from a wrong place, ikura sushi can be a little fishy
But that was definitely not the case here
So how good is the rest of their sushi?
Well, there's the box full of sushi that they serve all at the same time
And visually speaking, they look like decent sushi
I'm seeing some tuna, amberjack, salmon, tuna roll, squid, shrimp, and even a sea urchin
And as I was filming, Mi-chan already started eating
How is it?
Their shari, or sushi rice, was brown
Which means they probably used brown rice vinegar to make it
So is the sushi good?
Yes, the sushi is quite good
Significantly better than the first restaurant
I like the fish to rice ratio here too
It's a very ethical proportion, I must say
You know, like the restaurant that I visited earlier
All yukini restaurants, they tend to have kind of an upsetting rice to fish ratio
But here, they're doing it right
Salmon sushi
The sushi here is very, very good
Compared to the sushi restaurants that are like 20,000 yen and plus
It's not quite there
If that's like a 10 out of 10 sushi, this is like 7 or 8 out of 10 sushi
Which is great sushi
Like, I walk into a random sushi restaurant in America
That's like a 3.0 at most sushi
So this is like far better than, I would say, sushi roll or kura sushi
You just can't compare
This is actually properly made sushi
Like chef made sushi
Sometimes I go to like all those kaiten sushi
Like conveyor belt sushi places
And the sushi, like the fish looks like some kid cut the sushi with scissors, you know
Would you say Japanese people eat sushi often?
Everyday?
No
But people love sushi
How come they don't eat often?
Don't I buy sushi every two months?
I'm her actual uncle Jimmy
So having tried all of their sushi
My impression is that it's not the best of the best
But it's quite delicious
So as a sushi restaurant, it'll be on like better than mid-range sushi
But all you can eat, so that's really awesome
I'll be honest, uni that I had here
There's just a hint of fishiness
So it's not like the best of the best
But it's still pretty good
And there's a good amount of uni in it too
We also got this unagi wrap thing
I'm gonna try this unagi wrap
Wrap it up like that
So out of the course is sukiyaki
They come in this really cute portion
And that's a dipping sauce I believe
I'm gonna take this beef
And dip it in this sauce
The sauce is very foamy
Well the portion wasn't huge but it was definitely delicious
The meat was extremely tender
And the sauce had a slightly fruity flavor that I really liked
The beef is actually really good
For someone like me who cares about the quality to a degree
But also wants to eat a lot
This would be a pretty great place
That being said, I feel like the first place that I went to
At least the quality wise, there was more to be desired
Pretty good
Miso soup is pretty good
This year's ending
Time flies
Yeah, really
At this rate, Chimi-chan is going to be an old man
She might still be an old man
Chimi-chan is going to be an old lady
I never see you, or at least I never hear about you
Going out on like dates or you know
Going out to see guys
Not at all
I wonder why
Nothing in my life
That's the same for me
When are you getting married?
I don't know
Maybe in my next life
You can only see good people in anime
That's right
The guys you want to protect
When you watch anime
This person needs Misa
Without Misa
I look so nerdy in the glasses
Doesn't this look like an otaku?
The glasses
Really?
I only recognize the First Gundam
When the First Gundam was over, the Gundam was over
Only First Gundam
Anyway, we just got five more pieces of sushi
The first round of sushi was quite a lot
So we weren't really hungry
But I just wanted to have some of my favorite pieces again
Let's eat
And she just wanted to have her favorite uni sushi again
Yeah, it's a very satisfying meal
Don't you want to protect her like an otaku?
I don't think so
The size of your arm is different
This is like your body
I heard that you started working out
Macho?
Yes
Am I?
Maybe
As part of the course, they give you a dessert
Which is Häagen-Dazs ice cream
I want strawberry
Okay, you can have the strawberry
Yes
Strawberry
I love cookie and cream
Well, it is not their house-made matcha gelato
But it is Häagen-Dazs
It's good ice cream, you know?
Yeah
It's Häagen-Dazs, so you know what you're getting
I would have liked it to be a little fancier and more customized
But this is honestly good enough
Which one was the best?
I like uni the most
But the tempura was also good
Sukiyaki was also good
The miso soup was also good
The chawanmushi was also good
Everything was good
Häagen-Dazs was also good
But you're doing a live stream now, right?
Yeah
If you can do better, will you do a full-time live stream?
But I'm a little worried about doing a full-time live stream
It's good to have a hobby like YouTube
But for training, even if everyone comes, if there is no donation, they won't come in
That's right
I think YouTube, where you can go without a donation, is amazing
That's why Mi-chan took a lot of videos
I also took a lot of videos today
I have to upload YouTube videos soon
I want to buy a new car and see the ocean
That's right, the ocean is nice
I want an Hermes coat
That's nice
Anyway, that was a very satisfying meal with a great view
And that was one of the most satisfying all-you-can-eat sushi experiences that I had
Thank you for the meal
Grandpa, thank you for the meal
It was delicious
You don't have to do that, you're already tiny
Grandpa, it was delicious
Have you ever been to a school trip alone?
Not at all
It's like Haruka-chan in a school trip alone
I know
What kind of Haruka-chan?
A child?
Yes, a child
I gave her a quest
A quest?
Okay, so I had a great time there, I thought it was a great meal
Pretty good
Is it worth 12,000 yen?
I think it's easily worth 12,000 yen
Now, if you're expecting some heavenly sushi, it is not the place
I feel like it's just a place where you can have a casual course meal
And you obviously get lots of portions too
Alright then, well thank you for joining me
Thank you
Hopefully I'll see you in Korea, possibly
Okay, Korea!
Thank you guys so much for watching
And please go ahead and watch my other videos so that I can make a few more dollars
And possibly invite her over to Korea
