Well, off-grid camping. What do you think of this for a spot?
Middle of a field in Sedba. So I've recently become
a member of off-grid camping and I've come to one of these sites near
Sedba, that's near Kendal. It's in this huge field
where I'm at and there's other fields over there near the
valley and you can just park wherever you like.
So what you do is on off-grid, on off-grid camping on the website,
you click like the location and then it gives you the details of the
the landowner and then you get in contact with them and then go from there
basically. So yeah, I've chose this and it's bloody
really nice.
Right, I'm going to go for a bit of a walk down to the creek
which is just down there and hopefully there's a bit of water I can have a bit
of a dip.
So I was chatting to the lady who runs the site here and she said you're not
allowed campfires just because we've not had
any rain in about three blooming weeks, maybe a bit more. So my plans to
have a campfire tonight are a bit, a bit scuppered really. So I'm gonna
cook tea just on the hob. But yeah, I'm just gonna sit out and
watch the sunset later on, a couple of beers and just chill out.
This is lovely, this little stream coming through.
I just want to find a deep enough pool that I can just get in it then.
A couple of shallow ones like this but ideally a bit of a deeper one.
Let's go and have a bit more of a mooch.
Here we are, this looks deep enough. It's a nice one there.
Now I'm gonna get in, a bit stripped off. Now I've not come in my swimming shorts so
lovely that, in the water, a bit freshened up now.
I'm gonna go back to the van, crack a beer open and
chill out in the sun. It's bloody well nice. Proper decent here, you feel like
you're just in the middle of nowhere because there's just no one around which
is ideal for me. I'll tell you something, if these
off-grid campsites are all like this, with no one around, it's just bloody
perfect. Look at this, you're allowed to park in
this, look at that. You can park anywhere in here. This is
another bit of the field. Look at that, and that river stream
thing's just over there. So you could come in here, you could
gonna do a spaghetti bolognese. Let's get set up.
Haldi special bolognese, see what that's like.
With a splash of red wine in it.
This is the first time I've actually used this to
do pasta. I normally use it for frying chips and fish and stuff like that.
Yeah boy. Big meal this one mate. Flippy neck, it's gonna be like this.
Flippy neckers. Quite a bit there. I don't think I'll go hungry tonight.
Look at that brimmed cheese on top. Couldn't be that great,
innit? So I still do.
That cheese is unbelievable.
Right we've got some pretty good sunset going on right now.
Look at the van here in this valley. Absolutely gorgeous.
Pretty clear skies as well. It's only the old cloud, so hopefully later on
if it's still clear we'll try and get some starry
pictures above the van and stuff like that. But
in the meantime I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the rest of this sunset.
Proper good camp spot here. I'm really impressed. I'll definitely, definitely be
back. Really good views of the fells over that
way and you can also also see the Lake
District in the distance on the other side. So you've just got
360 views of bloody stunning scenery and the sunset over
by the Lake District last night was proper nice
as it like disappeared behind the hills. Because the sky was so clear last night
at sunset I was hoping it would be proper starry but
it didn't happen. All the clouds came in over the fells over there.
Yeah, so I didn't get to see any like stars about. But yeah, I'll definitely be
back here. Absolute class spot and I'm looking
forward to trying more of these off-grid camps.
I might do a winter camp here. I think that'd be decent and I'm looking
forward to trying some other off-grid camps as well and see what
them sites are like. But in the meantime, hit the subscribe
button, hit the like button. Yeah, I'll see you next time. See you in
a bit.
