In today's news, the King of Play has imported some of his most beloved Roland Garros treasures
back home to a new exhibit at the Rafa Nadal Museum in Manacor. It's a Rafa lover's paradise
filled with his trophies, rackets, and apparel. Rafa says it's a reflection of his career and
achievements at Roland Garros, which has been the most important place in his sporting life.
And now it's there for everybody to enjoy. The display includes his 14 Roland Garros trophies,
the Babilat rackets he wielded, his Nike bandanas, and the shoes he wore tearing up all the red clay.
It is a spectacular montage of Rafa's unprecedented success in Paris.
Video graphics display Rafa's most remarkable clay court feats, including his astounding 137-3
record in best-of-five set matches on dirt, his 81-match clay court winning streak,
and mind-blowing 479-48 record overall on clay. A couple of centerpieces in the new exhibit include
a replica of the steel sculpture recently presented to Rafa, and a spectacular life-size
sculpture of Rafa celebrating his victories. This iconic artwork, created by Nike in 2014,
weighs about 330 pounds. For years, it was on display in Nike's European headquarters,
and now it stands in the Rafa Nadal Museum. Both of Rafa's Olympic gold medals are also there,
and it's all open to the public just in time for the French Open, which starts on May 25th.
By the way, proceeds from the entry fees at the museum benefit charity initiatives by the Rafa
Foundation, so it's a win-win for Rafa fans and for charity. A couple of members of the
Tennis Now team have visited a branch of that museum at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center in Mexico,
and they tell us it really is spectacular. If you visit the new exhibit in Manacor,
we'd like to hear from you, so let us know what you think in our comment section.
