I love them all and totally agree, typography is a must. I have collected fabric with words for so long. People say, that is not a thing anymore. Well, it is for me. I love your ideas . Your creativity is 2nd to none. I found 3 older pots and have started to work on them. I can't choose a favorite. I have to watch again, especially the little pots.

Hi everyone, it's Erin from the Provincial Farmhouse. Today I'm going to be doing some
French Country Thrift Flips. For my first project I'm going to be working on this
sweet little mail holder that I got for just $4. I loved the shape of it but obviously it
definitely needs a makeover. My first step was to remove the hooks down the bottom and then I took
out Redesign's new Blooming Banners Mold and I'm going to be using Paint Couture's Rapid Casting
Resin in White. I'm also going to be using Redesign's Angelic Aura Mold, specifically
these sweet little florals. I'm going to cast a few of those. So I'm going to first begin by
pouring out step one into my silicone cup and then I'm going to pour out equal parts step two
into the same silicone cup and then I'm going to stir that for 30 seconds.
Next I am going to carefully pour out my resin into my molds. I did get a little bit of
overflow in a few areas but that doesn't really matter. You can usually peel that back or cut
that back with a craft knife pretty easily and then I'm just going around and filling in some
other molds because obviously I don't want to waste my resin. These castings will be ready
in about 10 minutes and they will become opaque white. I then took out Paint Couture's 2-in-1
Primer in White and I'm going to be applying two coats of this over my nail holder. Now this
particular surface felt quite shiny and slick so I definitely felt like this was a necessary step
but also I am going to be using light colors today so adding the primer definitely saves me
some other coats of paint. As you can see here my castings are ready to go so I am going to take
those out and I have my two coats of primer on there that's already dry so I'm going to take
out some Gorilla Super Glue Gel and I'm going to apply a generous amount to that. This is going
to cover up that little heart also the little hole there I will add a different hanging attachment
and I'm also adding some hot glue so that I will have that immediate hold and obviously the Gorilla
Super Glue Gel will be that permanent hold so I'm applying some super glue and hot glue and then I
am adding my resin casting over the top of that heart design. I'm not going to add anything else
just yet wasn't exactly sure where I was going with this as yet but I did take out Paint Couture's
Italian Ivory and I started adding that so I did cast some other little roses as you know but I
wasn't sure exactly where I wanted them to go at this point so I just went in with that nice
beautiful neutral cream tone. Often I'll do this if I'm not exactly sure which direction I'm going
and I find that having this lovely neutral tone definitely helps get those ideas going so I ended
up painting it with two coats of the Italian Ivory. I'm not going to paint the back I will
just clean that really well so it's just got a nice plain black back to it and then I went in
and had a look at those little florals. I'm going to use this sweet little set of two roses and I'm
going to use my super glue gel on the back of that and I'm going to glue that down the bottom
between where the two hooks go. Once that glue was dry I added in another two coats of the Italian
Ivory over my resin casting. This mineral paint has a built-in sealer so it is going to save me
another step. When that was dry I took out Redesign's new Blushing Bloom fiber paper. This
is the smaller paper that comes in the set of two. I am just lining that up I want it to go on the
front of my little mail holder but I do want it to also curve around the side so I'm just working
out how much I'm going to need and then I'm going to use Paint Couture's decoupage medium in matte.
I'm going to apply a generous coat on the front and you definitely do want to be a bit more
generous with your decoupage medium or you could use Redesign's decoupage gel medium instead
because this fiber paper is very thick it's a lot thicker than a lot of the other decoupage
papers on the market so I've been very generous with that. Then I'm going to position my fiber
decoupage paper where I want it to go and then I'm going to smooth down the front and then smooth
down the sides making sure that I don't have any air bubbles and then I'm going to come in with
another generous coat of my decoupage medium over the top of that. I used my hairdryer to dry it
really well and then I took out my craft knife and I'm going to be using that to remove the excess
paper from around the sides so I'm just running that craft knife along the edge of my project
and it's cutting that paper really well I've had no issues with that I'm going to cut it off the
back section next and then I'm going to work my way around trimming that excess off and then once
I have the majority of that off I did go in with some 80 grit sandpaper I'm using that to tidy up
the edges but also to reveal a bit of that darker tone underneath so I've got a little bit of a
distressed worn look. The next day I came in with Redesign's classic vintage labels this is one of
the designs from that pack and I'm going to have that on the front I do really love to add typography
to my projects sometimes they don't look finished to me if I don't add this step obviously you could
leave this step out or use a stencil instead so I'm just lifting that transfer as I'm rubbing
it's coming off really easy onto my dry decoupage medium and then I'm going to seal that with
Paint Couture's extreme guard in satin. As I mentioned previously the Italian ivory mineral
paint has a built-in top coat I'm just adding that clear coat to protect my transfer. When that was
dry I took out Paint Couture's Van Dyke brown glaze and I am really working that into all of those
details of my resin casting there I also used my mister to help that product move around I'm also
using a tapered bristle brush that definitely helps getting down into those details and then
I'm going to wipe back the excess with a wet wipe. I am doing a bit more of a dabbing motion on some
of the flat surfaces I find this gives me a bit more of an authentically aged look and I'm going
to continue adding that glaze down inside of the little male holder section and again wiping that
back I've got that built-in sealer so I can wipe back as much as I want and then I'm going to
continue to work my way around my project adding that glaze in all of those other areas and then
wiping it back. Obviously if the grungy look isn't for you you could leave this step out.
When that was dry I took out Paint Couture's bronze luxe metallic and I am just using a small
flat artist brush to go over the top of the raised details the raised elements of this casting I do
love to bring in a bit of bronze if I can and I'm just very lightly going over the top I don't need
full coverage here if bronze wasn't to your taste you could go in with more of your sort of classic
traditional gold or silver perhaps I'm also going to add it to the roses down the bottom.
When that was dry finally I went in and added those hooks back into place I mentioned at the
beginning that I was going to cover over the hanging hole that was there so I'm going to be
adding in this little golden hook attachment instead and here's a look at our finished
male and key holder I love how this turned out the blooming banners mold looks beautiful covers
that heart perfectly and I love the combination of the fiber paper and the transfer let me know
what you think of this in the comments. For my second project I'm going to be working on this
terracotta pot that I thrifted and I'm going to be using Redesign's angelic aura mold again I'm
dusting these sweet little angels or cherubs with cornstarch and then I'm working my DAS air dry
clay into one of the angel designs now you can use resin if you're not very confident with clay
but I'm just pushing that excess out and then I'm going to flex the mold flip it over and then
roll my mold back to release my casting I'm going to be casting one of each of these angels
again just in clay I really like the ability to mold the clay to my project surface so I'm just
releasing that casting there and then I'm going to be using the blooming banners mold again so I'm
just dusting one of those designs with cornstarch and then I'm going to work my DAS air dry clay
into it just like before pushing that excess out and then once I'm happy with that I'm going to
flex the mold flip it over and as I said before gravity is definitely a big help getting those
castings out I'm adding some wood glue to the back of my mold and then I'm just going to be
gently pressing that into the surface and then I'm going to layer in the beautiful little angels that
we cast I'm going to have those either side of that blooming banners mold there and I feel like
these two definitely go really well together I'm loving the really little florals that are
being held by the cherubs as well and I'm just going to gently press the other one into place
and then I took out the regal trimmings mold by Redesign as well I'm going to dust one of the
designs with cornstarch and I'm going to take out that dust clay again roll it into a sausage
sort of a shape and then I'm going to start pressing it into that design I'm pushing that
excess clay out as you can see at either end just with my thumb then I'm going to flex the mold flip
it over and then just like before I'm going to curl that back and release that casting I'm using
my Celia's quick set wood glue on the back of that as well spreading that glue out making sure that
each section of that mold is covered and I'm going to wrap that around the top rim of my pot
and then I'm going to cast another one of those and I'm going to finish off the design
and glue that in place I then took out my little stamp set that I got from Amazon and I am going
to press those stamps into my wet clay to make an impression I'm spelling out the word Fleur
which is obviously French for flower which I thought was perfect to go on a pot so I'm just
gently pressing that down and just sort of smoothing out any of the sort of extra marks
on there that I don't want and then I'm going to add some pitch black chalk paint to pine cone chalk
paint by paint couture and I'm going to be mixing in some salt wash texture additive this is going
to thicken up my paint and it's going to allow me to create some lovely texture I'm stirring that
really well and then I'm going to begin applying that to my pot using a chip brush I'm going to
apply it in a dabbing and stippling motion I'm not going to go in too heavy over my castings
with this I don't want to hide any of the details I'm being gentle my castings have had a few hours
to dry so they do have a crust on them but I'm still being gentle not to damage those details
so I'm going to work my way around the pot applying the salt wash mixture there and then
I'm also going to add it to part way down the inner rim of the pot when that was dry I took
out my cozy beige chalk paint by paint couture and I'm going to be applying that over the top
you'll notice that I am not going for full coverage I'm going to allow some of that darker
color underneath to peek through that's why we put that down so we could have that look of age
like the paint has worn away over time to reveal the darker color underneath so I'm just going to
continue to apply that paint over the entire pot I only ended up needing to do one coat the
coverage was really really good and again it was really nice to be able to see that texture
underneath it definitely added to that look of age I will be adding paint to the bottom of the
pot as well I just had to wait until the other sections had dry had dried until I did that and
then I'm going to paint the inside here now when that was dry I took out paint couture's van dyke
brown antiquing glaze and I am going to be applying that over the top of my castings first of all I'm
focusing on that blooming banners mold really working it into the details also using my water
to help that glaze to move around and I am going to be working in sections because obviously I'm
applying this over the top of the chalk paint which is quite porous and then I'm using a wet
wipe to pull back the excess I do want that glaze to sit down in the impressions that we made in the
clay I do want that to be visible so I am being careful with how I'm wiping that back and I'm just
going to continue to pull it back as much as I want that's why I'm working in sections so that
it doesn't get stuck in the paint before I can pull it back I'm going to continue to add the
glaze around the entire outside of the pot and the inside and as I said before don't worry I am going
to paint the bottom of the pot I'm using the glaze to create definition and obviously to see the
impressions that I created in the clay but if this look wasn't to your taste you could leave that out
when that was dry I took out Pancature's Basel chalk paint and I'm going to be going in and
applying that on the leaf details from the castings that we added I'm just carefully going in there I
am using a smaller artist brush so that I'm only getting that paint in those smaller areas
I went with this green it's a really nice sort of mid-tone it's not too dark not too light
and I felt like it definitely went with the look that I was going for so I'm just going to continue
to add that chalk paint I'm just doing one coat of this and then once that was dry I took out
Pancature's French rose now this is a mineral paint and I'm going in and I'm adding that
over the top of my florals before the paint had completely dried I did take out a wet wipe and
I'm going in and pulling some of that back you guys know I love a vintage look so I am going
in pulling that back not just from the flowers I'm also pulling it back from the areas where
we added the Basel chalk paint I want this to look worn and weathered so doing this step is
definitely going to help me achieve that look when that was dry I took out Pacific Pearl chalk paint
I'm going to get some on my brush offload the excess and then I'm going to go in and do some
dry brushing however I am going to be a little bit heavier I do want to lighten up this pot it
is looking quite dark so I'm going to bring this dry brushing in and it's going to hit all those
high points and give us a really lovely effect just all that layering definitely works together
really nicely so I'm just going to continue to do the dry brushing working my way around
the outside and inside of the pot once my paint was dry I did seal my pot with white night gloss
clear coat and here's a look at our finished pot I'm really pleased with how this turned out I
think those two molds go really nicely together and they are perfect on a flower pot let me know
what you think of this in the comments for my final project I'm going to be working on this
little ceramic bird that I thrifted for just one dollar I'm going to be using the beautiful
blooming banners mold again I'm going to work my Darcy dry clay into the same one that we actually
just used I'm then going to flex the mold and release my casting and I'm going to be adding
my Sealy's quick set wood glue to the back of that and then I'm going to add this to the base
of my statue there and I think that this is a really nice added detail and something that
you could do to a lot of those sort of plain statues that are out there I'm just the only
thing I've covered up is just a simple little flower but I think this looks a lot more elegant
I then took out those same Amazon stamps this time I am going to be stamping the French word
for house which is mason and obviously you could do whatever you wanted I did look up the French
word for bird but it wasn't sort of as appealing looking in my opinion I did try a few other
options but just went with this and again I'm just pressing that into my wet clay and I am just
making sure that I have those positioned best I can and then I did use a wet wipe to go in and
smooth out any of the sort of edges that showed up in between those letters and once I was happy
with that I decided to take out the angelic aura mold again because I'm going to cast a couple of
the roses I felt like we needed to add something to the back section of the bird this is probably
going to sit on a coffee table so I do want all of the angles of the bird to be appealing and
for the front and the back to tie together so I've cast a couple of those I'm adding glue to the back
of those and I'm going to begin gluing them down I'm really loving the scale of the latest molds
by Redesign they are just that little bit smaller so you can definitely use them on your smaller
decor crafts I think the blooming banners especially just has so many possibilities
I've already used it on a couple of projects but I like to be able to show you guys how you can use
them on different surfaces so if you have a plain statue that you want to add a little bit of
interest to that's definitely a good option once I finished gluing the florals down I did give my
clay several hours to dry and form a crust and then I took out Paincature's Cozy Beige chalk paint
and I'm going to go in and apply that over the entire piece now I did spray this with a spray
clear coat just to give it a little bit of something for my paint to stick to but this
chalk paint is pretty good it does stick to most surfaces and because I wasn't going with a really
obvious different color except for down on the base I didn't think it mattered too much in terms
of saving me any coats of paint so I just ended up going in and doing two coats over the top of
the entire bird just making sure that I was tidying up any areas where I might have paint
pooling and again still being gentle over the top of my castings once my two coats of paint
were completely dry I took out Paincature's Van Dyke Brown Glaze and just like in the last project
I'm using that to really create some definition over the top of those castings I'm using a mister
to help move that product and then I am coming in with a wet wipe to pull back the excess I
am going a little bit lighter on the body of the bird itself I did feel like down the bottom could
afford to be a little bit darker again just going over the top of my castings gently wiping back
that excess glaze and then I'm going to continue to add that glaze over the rest of the bird and
I really love how this glaze is bringing out the definition of the bird's feathers as well when
that was dry I came in and decided I was going to do some more dry brushing with that Pacific Pearl
just like we did in the last project I am going in a little bit lighter than I did on the pot in
the previous project but I'm just really going over the top I'm loving how that paint is catching
the details of the feathers on the bird and then I did move on and start doing the dry brushing on
the base and again I'm loving how this is bringing out the details and the definition of those
beautiful castings I did use my mister to help move that paint a bit more and it did sort of
turn it into a little bit more of a wash but in the end I actually really liked that look so
it was definitely good to have a bit of a play around with that technique I then went in and
lay it in just a little bit more of that glaze just over the section where we have the impressions
from the stamps and then I took out Pankajor's Virta Green glaze and I'm going to go around
and start dabbing that in certain areas this is meant to sort of look like moss just to sort
of simulate that look of age I really was envisioning almost like an old garden statue
when I was working on this project so I'm just going to go around and continue to add that
Virta Green glaze in the areas where I think that it would accumulate where we might find that moss
accumulating on a garden statue and it did sort of create some nice definition as well around
the castings that I added I didn't add too much of it on the bird body I felt like less was more
it came to the top section and I knew that I was going to be coming in and adding a few more things
down the bottom as well so I didn't go over the top when that was dry I took out Pankajor's French
Rose and just like in the last project I'm going to be adding that over the top of the floral
details that we added I am however trying to not allow the paint to slip too far down into
the lower points I still want to see that glaze pretty clearly and once I finished doing that
I did then go in and take out Pankajor's Bronze Luxe Metallic I'm going to use this with a flat
brush and I'm going along the edge of the blooming banners detail there I really want that to stand
out also the edges as well I'm going up onto those different sections and I'm going to continue to
work my way around just adding it to the outside sections of that banner I think it'll really sort
of draw attention to that and make it stand out I also went on the ends of the banner ribbons I
think maybe you'd call it and down the sides again I just think it's details like this that make
different sections of your projects stand out next I switched to a really small artist brush
and I'm going to add the bronze into the impressions that we made and you can see I'm
sort of using my finger to brush over the top to sort of wipe off any that have come up the sides
but again I really think this made that banner stand out I also did then decide to go and just
add that bronze to the ends of the banners on each side just like with the previous project
when this was dry I sealed it with my white night spray clear coat and here's our finished
bird statue I think this turned out really sweet let me know what you think of this in the comments
